Forest Park Hotel - Platres - Cyprus - Simply Brilliant

Advantages: Family Friendly - Exceptional Service - Great Value and Location
Disadvantages: None

...other tourist hot spots, but also makes for some challenging walking (both uphill and down). The town is well served by the usual amenities ? it?s chock full of taverna?s and eateries of varying distinction, as well as craft shops, tat shops, a couple of local banks, a pharmacy, a tourist information office based at the town hall (useful for local excursions) and a police station. There are also a couple of small arcades, which have rides for toddlers and young children, air hockey, table football video games and other amusements. INITIAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE PROPERTY The excellent, family-run, Forest Park Hotel, the only four star property in Plátres, is on the outskirts of the town, and, after passing through an archway with the hotel name tastefully emblazoned on it, you drive up a winding, pine tree lined drive, past the pool...

Greenwood Forest Park

Advantages: Something on offer for the whole family
Disadvantages: Need dry weather to appreciate all that is on offer.

...This family park was set up in 1993 by Stephen and Andres Bristow and is situated mid way between Bangor and Caernarfon just a few minutes from A55 Coast Road at a place called Y Felinheli. For Sat . Nav users the postcode is LL56 4QN. The park in open from February half term to the end of October but the opening times vary, for example, from mid March to beginning of September the park is open from 10 am to 5.30pm. It is always advisable to get there early, as it can be very busy during the summer holidays. Prices also vary between £6.85 and £9.80 per adult and £5.75 and £ 8.95 for a child depending on what time of the year it is. However, you can get good discounts on family tickets. e.g. for 2 adults and 2 children the prices range from £22.50 in the low season to £33.60 in the high season. This price includes all rides...

The New Forest

Advantages: Surrounded by beauty and wildlife
Disadvantages: I haven't come across any yet

...Well I am one of the lucky ones how lives here now. I moved here only 6 months ago after being here four times on holiday - I loved it that much. It is a great place to get away from the rat race, to unwind and admire the beautiful forest. The New Forest covers about 200 square miles of south west Hampshire and it was designated a National Park in 2005. The New Forest is renowned for its large expanse of heathland, which can appear quite bleak during the Winter months, but in the Summer and Autumn can look quite beautiful due to the colours of the heather. If you are an animal lover then this is the place for you. There are horses, ponies and cows which just "roam around" the forest. So watch out when driving. When I first moved down here I was amazed to see that a herd of cows crossing the road was causing such a traffic jam...

Faliraki Water Park

Advantages: variety of rides, fun day out, enjoyable attractions, fair entry fee, easy to get to
Disadvantages: no straps on locker keys, limited shade on walkways resulting in burning feet, very hilly

...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Faliraki Water Park ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As a family we are fairly easy to please on holiday. We consist of my dad who is 42, my 17 year old brother, my 8 year old brother and myself (I am 20). We all enjoy similar things on holiday and our ideal day is lazing around by the pool and perhaps having a little wander round local villages then having something nice to eat and drink. One thing we all love are decent water parks. So whilst on holiday in Rhodes we planned a day out to the waterpark in Falraki as it was recommended by Thomson and we were able to purchase our tickets through them to save us queuing too much at the park itself. Thomson did not do a set day excursion to the waterpark on the basis that it is so easy to get their by taxi and that then leaves it open for families to chose which days they...

Diamond review  The New Forest, only 900 years old.

Advantages: See wild ponies and if you are lucky some deer.
Disadvantages: Busy in the summer holidays, public transport is poor.

...~~Summary~~ The New Forest is a great area for walking, viewing flora, fauna, ponies and other animals in the wild, also there are good beaches around Bournemouth. In the New Forest there are parks and activities for visitors, along with a variety of small towns and quaint villages to visit. Also there are many little gravel car parks dotted across the forest for visitors to park the car and have a wander at their leisure. ~~Location~~ The New Forest is located on the South Coast of England, it is about 90 miles South West of London in Hampshire. The New Forest covers an area of approximately 150 square miles and is roughly bounded to the south by the sea, to the east by Southampton Water and to the West by the River Avon. The New Forest is made up of woodland, heaths, marsh and some arable land. Approximately half of the area is...

The New Forest is Great

Advantages: Nice Forest. Attractive Heathland. Deer. Ponies
Disadvantages: Gets Busy

...the south is the yachting centre of Lymington facing the rustic Isle of Wight. The Park Headquarters are located at Lyndhurst. It attracts a goodly number of naturalists, campers ,cyclists, and "soft" adventure tourists, day visitors from the nearby towns of Southampton,Christchurch,Poole and Bournemouth, and an increasing number of foreign visitors. There are a number of well regulated camping sites and not surprisingly campers are pretty thick on the ground during the warm summer months. There are some well marked trails for hikers and the New Forest Otter,Owl and Wildlife Conservation Park is well worth a visit. If you are not into camping-and the British weather is notoriously fickle- you should not despair too much for the villages and towns of the New Forest have some very nice country-style hotels and homely bed and breakfast...

Touring the New Forest Dorset/Hampshire

Advantages: Brtish at its best
Disadvantages: Let Me Think!

...of the Solent, its magnificent setting gives immediate access to the country?s most popular Water sports location, Ashore. You are now heading towards lymington through the New forest, passing through the wonderful picturesque village of Beaulieu, near by Bucklers hard; sway; Lyndhurst and Brokenhurst, but watch out for the many horses and ponies that roam free throughout the park. www.burleynewforest.co.uk Burley is a must with its quaint little gift shops and thatched cottages; that?s if you can get past the horses and donkeys that stand in the shop doors. They roam everywhere. Eventually arriving in lymington, with its Boats and huge harbour, quite a substantial town with numerous shops of every kind and market day is on a Saturday this is a good one. Lymington is the largest coastal town in the new forest. Heading westward from...

Water and a Park... Kingsbury Water Park

Advantages: Cheap, a nice day out
Disadvantages: could probably be a bit boring for older kids

...*edited thanks to DrChazan's excellent advice!* On Monday, the kids school had (another) teaching training day and after our next door neighbour heard me screaming at the kids for the 100th time by 11am, he suggested Kingsbury Water Park. I'd never heard of it, so full of excitement me and Mark got the kids into the car and set off with a boot full of sarnies and crisps. Kingsbury Water Park is situated in Bodymoor Heath (just down the road from the Villa training ground). It covers 600 acres and inside all those acres lie 15 lakes. It was opened in 1975 and currently attracts more than 280,000 visitors a year. It was originally a series of sand and gravel pits but in the early 70's Warwickshire County Council decided to transform it into a Water Park. Half of the used up gravel pits were filled with water and thousands...

Low Down on Longdown Activity Farm - New Forest

Advantages: A terrific family day out
Disadvantages: A bit of sun makes it much more fun

...On Sunday I was at a loose end with what to do with my children, girls aged 6 and 2. All weekend they had been getting on each other's nerves and my wife was at breaking point. As the weather was reasonably bright we decided to get out of the house. After a quick search on the Internet for somewhere nearby, we packed a picnic and headed off to the New Forest. The place we had chosen to visit was Longdown Activity Farm. The farm is open daily between 10am to 5pm from 12 Feb - 30 Oct and weekends only in November and December. Last admission is at 4pm. Getting there was really easy; we followed the M27 to Southampton, picked up the M271 and then followed the signposts from there. If you know the New Forest, it is between Totten and Ashurst off the A35. The car park is a large gritted area, which at a guess could hold over 100...

The Naked Man I found in the Forest

Advantages: Breathtaking scenery, lots of history, many country pubs, close to major towns - Southampton and Bournemouth
Disadvantages: Need a car or cycle to experience all of the beauty, can get very boggy in winter

...of the New Forests best known sites, as well as starting off quite close to a lovely country pub named the New Forest Inn just outside Emery Down (again off the A31). Unfortunately due to my poor navigation we only got to see two of the sites ? but hey who says we have to follow the rules? Starting at Millyford Bridge Car Park (which was hard enough to find!), we walked towards the Portuguese Fireplace. It was quite moving to sit and ponder about the troops who lived in nearby huts during the First World War. The fireplace was part of the cookhouse and probably had many a tale to tell. Then we walked through a five bar gate (yep that?s the detail of the directions) until we found the reptiliary. I?d specifically chosen this walk as Paul loves all things slimy and scaly (stop there, me excluded), the unfortunate thing was that it was out...
