Light as the Air, Nikon D60
Advantages: Very small and light, wide range of Nikon lenses
Disadvantages: Slow Autofocus
... Nikon D60
The Camera Itself
Here it is, the slightly higher than entry level digital SLR from Nikon. On paper it seems very similar to many other similar priced cameras. So in this review, I dig a little deeper to see if there is enough difference to put you out of pocket.
First thing you will notice is the size of the body. It is impressively small, very good for travel photography and in general circumstances. The bodies? grip will fit the contours of your hand well even if you have large hands, like myself. The 10.2 megapixel sensor is expected, but possibly may have benefited from upping to 12 megapixels or more. As beginner to enthusiast photographers develop they will be left wanting more pixels to suffice their needs. The manufacturers? website states it also includes, ?Active D-Lighting.? This is said to...

brilliant Nikon D60
Advantages: fantastic quality images
Disadvantages: bigger than a compact digital camera
...I had been wanting to upgrade from my compact digital camera for a while as I was constantly disappointed with the quality of the images, (a fuji finepix in case you are interested). I was recommended this camera by a friend and although it seemed a bit more than I wanted to spend, the £60 cashback offer from Nikon swayed me. I have never looked back. This camera is amazing, even my snapping results in shots that look semi professional! Its incredibly easy to use and really responsive, with a 5 month old baby I am no longer missing those moments but am capturing every expression as I wish. I have only had this camera about a month and so far I love it. It's certainly bigger than a compact camera so less handy to carry in your bag, but the difference in the quality of images is well worth it. I can't recommend this camera highly...

Great Entry Level D-SLR
Advantages: Small (for a D-SLR), practical, easy to use, nice touches
Disadvantages: slightly heavy, relatively low FPS for burst mode, doesn't operate as a usb drive on the computer
...Recently my sister got one of these cameras, and I was lucky enough to be allowed to use it. It was a pleasure to use, even great fun. It offers great functionality for a fraction of the price of some D-SLRs. Much better than any compact camera I have ever used.
Construction
As with any SLR, this camera can be quite large if you are used to the bog-standard compacts you usually see. Then again, my Fujifilm E900 is already a large camera. However, the D60 is quite small for a SLR, especially compared to some of the professional monsters you see. It's also quite heavy, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. The camera uses the SD card, which is the de-facto standard for most cameras, which is pleasing, seeing as most D-SLRs used to use CF cards. The supplied battery is a Nikon proprietary standard, but lasts for quite a while (I...

Easy to use, high quality digital SLR
Advantages: Great price, excellent image quality & easy to use
Disadvantages: Night shot is not too good
...Having owned this camera for a few months now, I feel I have learnt enough about the camera to write a review on it. I would genuinely recommend this to anyone who wants a good quality SLR at an amazing price!
QUALITY:
With 10.2 megapixels, the image quality of the pictures produced from this is excellent. Fine detail can be captured with one simple click. The night shot is not as clear as daytime shots, and needs to be used with a tripod in order to stop camera shake and image blurring. The zoom with the 18-55mm lens is good, and is able to capture detail from far away.
SIZE & APPEARANCE:
Nikon branded this camera as 'its most compact yet', and weighing just over 16 ounces, it is very easy to transport around.
The camera looks similar to all other Nikon cameras; with its black casing and minimal colour. The strap has 'Nikon' in yellow...

D60!! ONE AMAZING JAM PACKED CAMERA!!
Advantages: So many features
Disadvantages: None
..., without loosing old photos you want to keep.
I bought a small carry case which is magnetic so my camera does not get damaged. This goes in my bag on most days and does not fail to protect the camera. Other accesories can be bought like new cases if yours does happen to get damaged, and you can buy accesories like dangley shiney jewels that you can buy for your mobile phone.
Overall the camera has done me proud. I have enjoyed taking and looking and sharing the pictures I have taken. Great for all ages, and will continue to use every day....

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.
Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode
... How I made my choice
I recently bought the D90 to upgrade from my Olympus 560UZ bridge camera, so this is my first foray into DSLR photography. Most people starting in DSLR photography will opt for the cheaper D40, or the D60, D70 and D80. I am not particularly rich, and in the end chose the D90 because I didn't want to grow out of the smaller DSLR and have to buy a new body quickly. I have found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel...

Nikon D90 - My Next 'Last' Camera
Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range
Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for
...bother to use anything but the P mode, although I do use A and S on occasions.
THE PROOF OF THE PUDDING
Compared to my old D70, the differences in results only become apparent when blowing up detail rather than looking at full-frame pictures, although the new processor borrowed from the ?pro range? of Nikon DSLRs does give noticeably better colour rendition. Of course, I?ve always stuck to the finest and largest JPEG settings, whereas a purist will only ever shoot the NEF (raw 12.3 megapixel mode) format for the absolute top quality. The camera comes with CDs including a utility to handle these NEF pictures, and if I remember correctly, a recent version of Photoshop also knows what to do with them.
Combined with my new 9600 dpi printer, the results would be difficult to better, although I can see this fascination costing me a fortune...

Nikon D70, new owner of entry level DSLR crown
Advantages: Its a full digital SLR with interchangeable lenses
Disadvantages: Slight noise at 400ISO, poor strap design, nowt else !
...of the system, with adjustments in the menu for +/- settings.
* CONCLUSION
OK its only a quick review, but in the 2 weeks I have owned this NikonD70, I can honestly say it has allowed me to take some of my best photographs, ever ! And that is not an exaggeration. What a star. I did a lot of comparisons some weeks ago between ths D70 and the Canon 300d, and the Nikon won (but that was a lot to do with astronomy !)
I bought mine from S W Optics, Bristol for £939 inc the 18-70mmDX lens & next day delivery (Thanks Steve). 70-300mm G lens from London Camera Repair (brand new) for £97 total, again with next day delivery.
HOWEVER - you may find these a bit thin on the ground right now (18 June) as Nikon appear to be limiting the quantity coming into the UK. If you are looking for one, I wish you luck !
I?m happy....

Nikon D80 DSLR + 18-135mm Nikkor lens
Advantages: perfect grip, large prismatic viewfinder
Disadvantages: doesn't have internal memory
... Nikon D80
My first real DSLR camera, which I have become addict to even if it requires me to learn a lot and keep challenging myself into operating it better and better ammoed with knowledge.
It had been my dream to own a SLR camera, I've always had a passion for the big cameras and I was jealous of the pro photographers and the pictures they got.
When I was little, my parents had an old Czech-made camera including all the stuff you need to develop the pictures yourself at home and so we were always full of photographs of me and my brother, that's where I started to love the stuff. Unfortunately the old equipment doesn't work anymore and my first camera was a simple automatic one and even if I liked to take pictures, I soon found out how expensive it was to have them developed and to buy new and new films. Now, in the age...
