...of fuel because of the weight of the car it does 35-38mpg. oil and water consumption is great. it handles very well round corners and in the wet, the snow and ice is where this car really comes in handy its powers through the snow with ease and makes quick work of the ice with barly an problems skidding, i was behind a new bmw when it was so icy the bmw was skidding everywhere mine was steady which was excellent. its has great security manufacturers immobiliser and alarm, you press the central locking fob once to open the drivers side and twice to lock the car, you can also hold down the boot button to open the boot when the rest of your car is locked. i get stopped all the time in petrol staitons to ask how much i paid and where from i got my car. the back seats are not very roomy and really could only fit one person or two children...

DO NOT BUY THE NEW SHAPE VW BEETLE 2,0 its awful

Advantages: streed cred (if youre a woman)
Disadvantages: Gas guzzler, high tax class, hard to park, tiny boot, patchy dealer service

...I own a 2001 2 litre beetle and it is the WORST car i have ever owned. Yes it looks great but its a pig to drive (try to NOT scratch the arches), driving position awful, our car has been in and out the garage with various problems including electrical issues, steering problems, all sorts of stuff and now the sunroof leaks. We had AWFUL service from the main VW dealer in plymouth too which didnt help. The car DRINKS fuel, is wobbly at speed if a small gust of wind is around, and the boot is about a big as a squirrels pocket and you can fit about 5 or 6 shopping bags and thats it, full! For a car of its size the cabin is cramped and dark. If it wasnt still on finance payments i would get rid of the car today. verdict:? Buy it if you want to look like a woman, or a plonker...

2006 VW POLO 1.4 Trendline with style packet

Advantages: Good allrounder, good handling, well built
Disadvantages: lack of equipment (unless paid for), low ground clearance

...We bougth the car from new in April 2006 and have been using it daily since. I do about 220kms(160 miles) per day and havent had any problems so far. I have small family, we are living in Turkey and we all love the car. On the downside, gauges on the dashboard are not clearly visible as top of the steering wheel hides the petrol and the temperature gauge from view. I should probably mention that I am in the region of 6'4'' tall. Head clearance is ok though. The packet we bought did not include digital AC, road computer and side airbags. Thinking about the rivals for example Fiat Punto Grande has all of that included for the same price. There is also no MP3 player as standard. The car is a little underpowered when climbing. 75hp struggles on some hills and I sometimes need to use it in the first gear. Boot space is quiet...

...days are all similar in build quality as they all comprise of similar safety features and are all partner companies to one another. Looks I believe the polo has average looks, which are simple and srong. It doesnt look aggressive but neither does it look like a girly car much like a micra or yaris! On the interior it is again simple and lacks inspiration but maybe that isnt soo important if it doesnt actually matter if it doesnt effect the driving. Summary The VW polo is proabably one of the best cars in its class, when it comes to overall performance, looks, safety and quality. However i do believe its cost and cost effectiveness need improving as does its look as the new models are becoming a bit "wishy washy" (pardon the phrase!).
