Most hotels will let you check your luggage with them for a small fee so we left our bags and went out again for a last look around. We had another quick trip to Macys and I bought some more presents before we headed back for our final meal before heading to the airport. We ate at an Irish bar and collected all our loose change to put in the charity box before heading out. The hotel doorman got us a taxi and we headed back to Newark Airport. This itself is big and has lots of shops for last minute gifts and very good value duty free. I paid $20 for a litre of smirnoff and a litre of bacardi. The flight left on time and we arrived back in Manchester the next morning, exhausted but very, very happy. New York is a truly amazing city...

Advantages: An amazing idea, it allowed us to see a lot more of New York

Review of Grey Line New York Sightseeing Bus Tours

The perfect location in New York

Advantages: Brilliant location, modern, big room, huge TV, one of the cheapest hotels
Disadvantages: Breakfast is expensive, toilet blocked a couple of times, not enough lifts

...The Park Central Hotel New York is in a brilliant location on 56th and 7th right in the centre of everything. A 10 minute walk downtown brings you to Times Square, 2 blocks uptown takes you to Central Park, 5th Avenue shopping is just 1 or 2 blocks to the east and a subway station 20 seconds away to take you to wherever else you want to go. Carnegie Hall is directly opposite and the Rockefeller Centre is less than 10 minutes away. The hotel is surrounded by gift shops and cafes and there's a nice little Irish bar just opposite. The location really couldn't get any better. When we first arrived it was difficult for us for find but that was only because we didn't have a map with us and because the grid system is so confusing at first. It is 15 miles from JFK airport ? (which is where we flew in from) 10 miles from Newark airport 8 miles from La Guardia airport. Everywhere we went to (and that was a lot of places in 3 days!) seemed easily accessible by cab. This was an experience in itself, the driving, the honking and so on, but the hotel itself is situated very close to Roosevelt Island and the East River. New York City's Best Kept Secret

Advantages: Small, Cheap, Quick to get around and beautiful animals
Disadvantages: Some animals looked way too hot in the heat we had. Wasn't sure if it was cruel or not?

...With the New York Pass we had the option of visiting two zoos, either the Bronx Zoo or Central Park Zoo. Well Central Park is only about a 20 minute walk from our hotel, so we decided it was probably better to go to this one rather than Bronx Zoo. After a very long day in the 90 degree heat, we finally arrived at the zoo, got our tickets and went straight into the zoo. The first obstacle you?ll face is the photographers, attempting to get more money out of you in the end; we declined as we all looked like utter crap due to the heat. We immediately found a little bit of shelter in the form of this huge gazebo situated in the main part of the zoo, we sat here for a while before going to look at the rest of the zoo. ...Gangs of New York, when i first started to watch this film i was struggling to get into it, but i am glad i stuck with it as its a great film, it is based in New York in 1846 where a battle is fought against the Irish and the native Americans over the five points area of New York City. The film is where Bill the Butcher played by Daniel Day Lewis kills Priest Vallon, whose son, Amsterdam Vallon Leonardo Dicaprio is taken to an orphanage. The plot then moves on 16 years to where Amsterdam returns to the five points to seek revenge against his fathers killer. Amsterdam then earns the gangster's respect, he must also contend with Jenny Everdean played by Cameron Diaz. The film is Directed by the great Martin Scorsese and this lives up to his other films. Then, one rainy, cold day, just before Christmas, my boyfriend of almost two years, told me he wanted to go to New York for his 21st birthday (yes he is a few years younger than me!) as he had been on his 18th and loved it. He wanted me to go and told me that he would pay for me (yes, he does have quite a lot of money too!) so we booked to leave on the 18th Feb. I couldn't wait! The flight from Heathrow was bearable (considering I hate flying!) and we flew with British Airways and I would definitely use them again as they were fantastic. We landed at JFK Airport in New York and it was absolutely freezing cold! We went the week after that big blizzard that was on the news that stopped flights...

Maybe it was not the best idea because my trusted Canon Powershot S30 was stolen without me even noticing it when we walked through the crowds at the flower market We flew Continental from Amsterdam to Newark Liberty Airport and from there we went to my sister in Ohio. On July 5th Nikki and I moved on to New York City. Arriving in New York City On July 5th we checked in at Columbus airport and got ready to take the flight from Columbus to Newark. Due to safety rules you have to leave your luggage unlocked now in case they need to inspect it. The flight to Newark only took 1 ½ hours and soon we had all our luggage with us and ready to go into the city. It seems like there are various ways to get to the city. New York Bakery Plain Bagels: Delicious bread treat for any time

Advantages: Great taste, lots of varieties available, fantastic price.

...New York Bakery Bagels are my favourite brand by far and a packet of 5 is available from £1.13 from Tesco or www.tesco.co.uk and these are packaged in a plastic bag with a neck seal tab and this means that you can undo the bag, take out just one or two bagels & then reseal them for freshness. These dough is produced, simmered in boiling water & then the bagels are stonebaked and they take on the most fantastic flavour & appearance. The outside of this particular bagel is glazed and a lovely light brown colour. These bagels can be toasted or eaten as they come, I generally toast these and I love a wide variety of toppings on them. Cut them down the middle & add any topping of your choice (either after toasted or if you are eating as a sandwich) the bagels taste fantastic with spreadable cheese & Marmite or smoked salmon & cream...
