New York City
Advantages: A lot to see & do, has something to offer for everyone
Disadvantages: Too much to see and do, can be exhausting, expensive hotels
...through the sub by a guide that told us a little bit about the different rooms. It is always fascinating to walk through submarines and see how much stuff they can squeeze into them. It must have been pretty challenging to serve onboard a tiny ship like this for weeks and weeks at sea.
The museum was fun at least if you are into history, planes etc. Check out their website on intrepidmuseum.org. It is pretty good and has lots of information. The general admission to the museum is 14.5 $ but once again we used the New York CityPass that we bought at the Empire State building.
Times Square
We walked over to this famous intersection already the first night. It doesn't take much to understand when you are there: large billboards where lights are flashing, people every where etc. The place is also on TV and movies quite a lot and every year...

A hotel in the heart of New York City
Advantages: Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi
...My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan.
Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington.
If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay.
The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue. The placement of the hotel was my favourite thing about it as it was just so easy to walk to some of the city's best attractions from here.
When we checked in...

The perfect location in New York
Advantages: Brilliant location, modern, big room, huge TV, one of the cheapest hotels
Disadvantages: Breakfast is expensive, toilet blocked a couple of times, not enough lifts
...The Park Central Hotel New York is in a brilliant location on 56th and 7th right in the centre of everything. A 10 minute walk downtown brings you to Times Square, 2 blocks uptown takes you to Central Park, 5th Avenue shopping is just 1 or 2 blocks to the east and a subway station 20 seconds away to take you to wherever else you want to go. Carnegie Hall is directly opposite and the Rockefeller Centre is less than 10 minutes away. The hotel is surrounded by gift shops and cafes and there's a nice little Irish bar just opposite. The location really couldn't get any better.
When we first arrived it was difficult for us for find but that was only because we didn't have a map with us and because the grid system is so confusing at first. We were walking up and down for about 20 minutes until we eventually came across it at practically...

New York, New York
Advantages: Fabulous shopping, bargains, great sights
Disadvantages: You will be tired and have foot pain at the end of the trip
...Ever since I was a teenager I had always wanted to go to New York City. It was probably the influence of TV shows such as Friends and Will & Grace but since then I've always wanted to see what life in the big apple was like.
There's the shopping (my number one priority!), the sights, the shows, the food, the list is endless.
I was nearly 25 when I finally made it over there, as part of a family trip with my mum, dad and sister.
I'd never been on an aeroplane for longer than two hours before, and I'm quite a nervous flyer, but the seven hours on Continental Flight CO21 from Manchester to Newark, New Jersey absolutely flew by (pardon the pun)!
Other friends and colleagues who had travelled to America previously had said about the lines at immigration so as soon as we landed everyone was ready and we walked as fast as we...

Fab priced hotel in the thick of New York City!
Advantages: Cheap, right by Times Square, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Rooms may be too small for some fussy travellers!
...When I was booking a holiday for my partner and I to go to New York, I did a lot of research about hotels, locations, sight-seeing spots etc and then tried to find the best one out of a huge list I made. I didn't want to pay a lot for the hotel because I knew we wouldn't be in it much, and when I saw the Best Western name, I thought it would be a good idea to stick with what I know! So I booked 4 nights in this hotel in December 2005, my second trip to the fantastic NYC.
We easily got a transfer from the airport, and gave the driver the address which I had printed out before we left the UK. We speedily set off into the manic NYC traffic in our little yellow cab, and were there within about 1 hour, not bad considering the traffic! The hotel had a nice frontage, it was all gold, had loads of Christmas lights and little Christmas trees...

New York City's Best Kept Secret
Advantages: Small, Cheap, Quick to get around and beautiful animals
Disadvantages: Some animals looked way too hot in the heat we had. Wasn't sure if it was cruel or not?
...to get onto 5th Avenue and then enter through there. You will be on Museum Mile at this point, I believe opposite the Guggenheim. As you walk into the park, you are taken back at how different it is from the hustle and bustle of New York City.
If you walk into the park, you?ll see a path leading down to the left, follow this and you?ll soon see the Children?s Zoo on the left, keep walking and you?ll then see Central Park Zoo on your right.
Exhibit Areas
I was shocked to see the different areas within the zoo, it is pretty much situated into three exhibit areas; tropic, temperate and arctic. All of these areas feature some beautiful animals, all of which seem to be well taken care of.
Animals
The first zone you come to within the Zoo is the Tropic Zone, we didn?t really spend too much time here as I?m not a huge fan...

Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!!
Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!
...Park, where you can almost imagine you are no longer in a built up metropolitan city. We took a helicopter ride around the city while there and Central Park looks very very strange from the air. Like a large slab of green in the middle of a grey island full of buildings. Amazing.
From our room we had a view of The Queensboro Bridge. It is quite amazing at night when all the lights are on. Incidentally this is the bridge they used in Spiderman, where he saves the people in the cable car. We watched Spiderman after we?d been to New York and it was instantly recognisable.
There is a large area at the front of the hotel where your cab can pull up out of the way of the main traffic. This where we arrived and then the luggage was carried in for us.
**OVERALL OPINION**
Overall we would recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to New...

New York, New York!!
Advantages: Fantastic city, great sights and landmarks, shops!
Disadvantages: You may emigrate!!
...I was rummaging through the closets of my brain this morning trying to think what my next review would be about and it struck me that even though I have New York in my username, because I love the city with a passion, I have yet to write a review about it. So here it is!
I have wanted to go to New York for as long as I can possibly remember. I think it may stem from watching lots of American films when I was a youngster (such as Home Alone) that centred around New York, particularly at Christmas time when it showed the big Christmas tree at Times Square etc.
I was lucky enough as a child to be taken on lots of family holidays, and while they were lovely holidays, New York, or America for that fact, was never on the cards as a destination as nobody else in my family wanted to go there. So, it was always a case of 'when you're old...

How to enjoy New York on a budget
Advantages: Greatest city in the world, lots to do, great food
Disadvantages: Never want to leave
..., list their price and label it a 'suggested donation'. This means that you DO NOT have to pay the price listed.
I personally never had the guts to do it myself, but when I visited the Metropolitan Museum with a friend, she actually paid only 1$ for the two of us and we were let in!
Naturally, some would disagree with such a practice, as money paid to the museum goes towards the preservation of art and museums. But if , for example, you are a student on a budget, you may want to just pay a little less.
ENTERTAINMENT - WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK - Music and other entertainers
So they are not big names that will ever enter the charts, but some of the musicians you can find in New York City are very talented and you can listen to them for free!
Once you find yourself in Washington Square Park, you may have to circulate a little...

NEW YORK- LOVE IT OR LOATH IT?
Advantages: Cheap shopping, culture, fun!
Disadvantages: Can be stressful!
..., and the atmosphere of sadness around the place is something quite unforgettable.
You can also get an idea of where the Twin Towers were and the effect the gap has on the landscape when you stand on Brooklyn Bridge and look across at the Manhattan skyline. Most people have seen the Manhattan skyline on films when the Twin Towers were there, and you can really see the difference now they are gone. Brooklyn Bridge is well worth a look at, and it looks especially spectacular at night when it is lit up like a Christmas tree.
The final landmark that I would recommend a look at is Central Park. It is advisable to put aside a whole day to explore the place, as it really is quite large. This is a real break from the stressful city atmosphere of the rest of New York. The pace of life is a little slower. You can sit by the fountain and watch the water...
