See All of New York For $45
Advantages: An amazing idea, it allowed us to see a lot more of New York
Disadvantages: Not always spaces upstairs, Annoying and Disrespectful Tour Guides
...of the hotel, turn right and then go right again and then you?ll get there. Bull. I?m sorry; I really wish we had moaned about this, because the woman had obviously never used this bus tour before. If you stay anywhere near Times Square then you should be fine, I believe the pick up for the uptown tour is near Madame Taussauds, find that and you should be fine. From our hotel however, considering this was our first day in New York, finding this took about an hour, especially considering the men in the RED waistcoats, kept on sending us the wrong way. We later found out they were sending us to the pick up for the downtown tour.
Once we found the pickup spot, we were already shattered, it was about 95 degrees at this point, so we were ready to pass out, we had also run out of water, from our walk.

New York, New York
Advantages: Fabulous shopping, bargains, great sights
Disadvantages: You will be tired and have foot pain at the end of the trip
...Ever since I was a teenager I had always wanted to go to New York City. It was probably the influence of TV shows such as Friends and Will & Grace but since then I've always wanted to see what life in the big apple was like.
There's the shopping (my number one priority!), the sights, the shows, the food, the list is endless.
I was nearly 25 when I finally made it over there, as part of a family trip with my mum, dad and sister.
I'd never been on an aeroplane for longer than two hours before, and I'm quite a nervous flyer, but the seven hours on Continental Flight CO21 from Manchester to Newark, New Jersey absolutely flew by (pardon the pun)!
Other friends and colleagues who had travelled to America previously had said about the lines at immigration so as soon as we landed everyone was ready and we walked as fast as we...

The perfect location in New York
Advantages: Brilliant location, modern, big room, huge TV, one of the cheapest hotels
Disadvantages: Breakfast is expensive, toilet blocked a couple of times, not enough lifts
...The Park Central Hotel New York is in a brilliant location on 56th and 7th right in the centre of everything. A 10 minute walk downtown brings you to Times Square, 2 blocks uptown takes you to Central Park, 5th Avenue shopping is just 1 or 2 blocks to the east and a subway station 20 seconds away to take you to wherever else you want to go. Carnegie Hall is directly opposite and the Rockefeller Centre is less than 10 minutes away. The hotel is surrounded by gift shops and cafes and there's a nice little Irish bar just opposite. The location really couldn't get any better.
When we first arrived it was difficult for us for find but that was only because we didn't have a map with us and because the grid system is so confusing at first. We were walking up and down for about 20 minutes until we eventually came across it at practically...

New York City's Best Kept Secret
Advantages: Small, Cheap, Quick to get around and beautiful animals
Disadvantages: Some animals looked way too hot in the heat we had. Wasn't sure if it was cruel or not?
...With the New York Pass we had the option of visiting two zoos, either the Bronx Zoo or Central Park Zoo. Well Central Park is only about a 20 minute walk from our hotel, so we decided it was probably better to go to this one rather than Bronx Zoo.
After a very long day in the 90 degree heat, we finally arrived at the zoo, got our tickets and went straight into the zoo. The first obstacle you?ll face is the photographers, attempting to get more money out of you in the end; we declined as we all looked like utter crap due to the heat. We immediately found a little bit of shelter in the form of this huge gazebo situated in the main part of the zoo, we sat here for a while before going to look at the rest of the zoo.
Location
If you manage to get into Central Park, then I would recommend going to the Zoo. To get to the zoo, you have...

Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!!
Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!
...My lovely husband booked a short stay in New York for my ?surprise? 30th birthday. This was in 2002 and we went there at the beginning of October of that year. Just as a side note before I start the review of the hotel, the weather was fantastic and for much of the time we went out regularly in T-shirts.
Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there.
**ABOUT THE HOTEL**
The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice.
It has 197 rooms in total, which range in quality depending on which sort you book. We had a regular room but found this to be very satisfactory. There was plenty of room from...

gangs of new york
Advantages: good film
Disadvantages: long
...Gangs of New York, when i first started to watch this film i was struggling to get into it, but i am glad i stuck with it as its a great film, it is based in New York in 1846 where a battle is fought against the Irish and the native Americans over the five points area of New York City.
The film is where Bill the Butcher played by Daniel Day Lewis kills Priest Vallon, whose son, Amsterdam Vallon Leonardo Dicaprio is taken to an orphanage. The plot then moves on 16 years to where Amsterdam returns to the five points to seek revenge against his fathers killer. Amsterdam then earns the gangster's respect, he must also contend with Jenny Everdean played by Cameron Diaz.
The film is Directed by the great Martin Scorsese and this lives up to his other films. Leonardo and Cameron play their parts really well, but i think Daniel Day...

New York City
Advantages: A lot to see & do, has something to offer for everyone
Disadvantages: Too much to see and do, can be exhausting, expensive hotels
...through the sub by a guide that told us a little bit about the different rooms. It is always fascinating to walk through submarines and see how much stuff they can squeeze into them. It must have been pretty challenging to serve onboard a tiny ship like this for weeks and weeks at sea.
The museum was fun at least if you are into history, planes etc. Check out their website on intrepidmuseum.org. It is pretty good and has lots of information. The general admission to the museum is 14.5 $ but once again we used the New York CityPass that we bought at the Empire State building.
Times Square
We walked over to this famous intersection already the first night. It doesn't take much to understand when you are there: large billboards where lights are flashing, people every where etc. The place is also on TV and movies quite a lot and every year...

GANGS OF NEW YORK
Advantages: Excellent direction, beautiful set, good story, superb soundtrack, high quality film
Disadvantages: One or two minor lapses in parts of the film
...Martin Scorsese?s Gangs of New York has finally been released. Its release date has moved from December 2001 to July 2001 and then to December 2002. Well Gangs of New York is finally here, so has it lived up to the hype and was it worth the wait? Absolutely.
As the American Civil War rages, 19th Century New York is a violent and fierce place as rival gangs clash in their fight for New York?s Lower East Side. On one side ? the brutal Bill The Butcher who leads the Nativists. And on the other, the Irish-Americans led by Amsterdam Vallon.
Filmed on location in Italy Gangs of New York wonderfully recreates 19th Century New York. The set is simply beautiful and massive attention is clearly paid to every detail. Though nothing you see is computer generated ? they built 19th Century New York from scratch and built a set over 2 miles long...

New York Bakery Plain Bagels: Delicious bread treat for any time
Advantages: Great taste, lots of varieties available, fantastic price.
Disadvantages: None.
...New York Bakery Bagels are my favourite brand by far and a packet of 5 is available from £1.13 from Tesco or www.tesco.co.uk and these are packaged in a plastic bag with a neck seal tab and this means that you can undo the bag, take out just one or two bagels & then reseal them for freshness.
These dough is produced, simmered in boiling water & then the bagels are stonebaked and they take on the most fantastic flavour & appearance. The outside of this particular bagel is glazed and a lovely light brown colour. These bagels can be toasted or eaten as they come, I generally toast these and I love a wide variety of toppings on them.
Cut them down the middle & add any topping of your choice (either after toasted or if you are eating as a sandwich) the bagels taste fantastic with spreadable cheese & Marmite or smoked salmon & cream...

A hotel in the heart of New York City
Advantages: Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi
...My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan.
Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington.
If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay.
The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue. The placement of the hotel was my favourite thing about it as it was just so easy to walk to some of the city's best attractions from here.
When we checked in...
