The Strand Palace Hotel

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!!

Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!

...My lovely husband booked a short stay in New York for my ?surprise? 30th birthday. This was in 2002 and we went there at the beginning of October of that year. Just as a side note before I start the review of the hotel, the weather was fantastic and for much of the time we went out regularly in T-shirts. Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there. **ABOUT THE HOTEL** The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. A hotel in the heart of New York City

Advantages: Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi

...My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan. Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington. If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay. The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue. Hudson Hotel, New York

Advantages: Great bars, good standard of customer care
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

...My husband and I stayed a the Hudson during September 2008, on my first trip to the states. We were away for 2 weeks, of which 5 nights were spent at the Hudson. This meant that we could compare this hotel to several others in the US, including one other in New York. Generally, the Hudson came out of this very well! We booked the Hudson online, through hotels.com, a procedure which was nice and simple and allowed us to look at several different hotels before making our choice. We were initially attracted to the Hudson because of it's easily accessible location and because the pictures we found on the internet made it look unlike anywhere we had stayed before! Review of Hudson Hotel, New York City

Edison hotel New York

Advantages: Rooms are spacious, clean, fresh and everyone is so friendly.
Disadvantages: No disadvantges, loved this place.

...I visited this hotel with my school in February 2007 and there was a group of 40 with 5 teachers. The group included boys and girls, there were very welcoming when we arrived after a long flight from England and getting up a 4.30. They allowed us up to our rooms, which where very spacious and comfortable. They had big double beds, which could have easily have fitted three people in. The bathroom was spacious and clean with lovley hot water for when we took a shower in the morning and after a long weary day. They provided us with big white fluffy towels to use after our bath and shower and layed out complimenatry gifts for us to use. The hotel is just round the corner from Times Square which is buzzing all the time with the bright lights. I recommend you visit this hotel, with its friendly staff and comfortable beds....

Fab priced hotel in the thick of New York City!

Advantages: Cheap, right by Times Square, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Rooms may be too small for some fussy travellers!

...When I was booking a holiday for my partner and I to go to New York, I did a lot of research about hotels, locations, sight-seeing spots etc and then tried to find the best one out of a huge list I made. I didn't want to pay a lot for the hotel because I knew we wouldn't be in it much, and when I saw the Best Western name, I thought it would be a good idea to stick with what I know! So I booked 4 nights in this hotel in December 2005, my second trip to the fantastic NYC. We easily got a transfer from the airport, and gave the driver the address which I had printed out before we left the UK. We speedily set off into the manic NYC traffic in our little yellow cab, and were there within about 1 hour, not bad considering the traffic! The hotel had a nice frontage, it was all gold, had loads of Christmas lights and little Christmas trees...

This year, I was in charge of organising our office Christmas party, and, being based in South East London, the department tends to head to Bromley or Greenwich for a meal. But this year we decided to go all out, and go 'up west', and so I came across the Strand Palace hotel on my googlequest and we decided to go posh as well. A palatial palace.

Advantages: Large rooms by NY standards, good service, quality furnishings.

...A few years ago, I worked for a Swiss bank and it was necessary for me to make frequent business trips to Zurich and New York. Whenever I as in New York, I tried to get a room in the New York Palace Hotel and fortunately most of the time I was successful. So this is a hotel I have stayed at on many occasions. By and large, my experiences were similar each time; I always stayed in the same standard of room and I always received the same standard of service from the staff. The New York Palace, or the Palace as I call it, it takes up the entire block between Madison and Park Avenues and 50th and 51st street, i.e. midtown Manhattan. I think this is a perfect location for any visitor as many of the highlights of New York are within easy walking distance.
