Choose Newcastle!!!!!!!!
Advantages: Read on and find out.
Disadvantages: It is a long way from the rest of the country.....
...and the Uni has alot going for it. You will need good grades to come here. It is as simple as that. I didn't do my undergraduate degree here and obviously there will be course-course variation but i'd estimate that you'll need to be aiming for at least 3 B's preferably higher if you hope to come to study here. Newcastle also has a medical school which has been voted the third best in country after Oxbridge! (I know this as my friend is a medic) and the Royal Victoria Infirmary is literally on campus which I'm sure is very handy.
The best bit is how close the Uni is to Town and I really love this. Depending on which side on the Uni you're on it can take between 2 and 10 minutes to hit the city centre which is GREAT!
Sure, Newcastle is a long way from pretty much everything else (it is a five hour drive to get back to my home town...) but...

The Centre MK
Advantages: Vast range of stores
Disadvantages: Some duplicate stores
...This Review is for the Centre M.K which is a huge shopping centre in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
The shopping centre is managed in two parts, the first being the Centre MK and the second a place named Midsummer Place.
The actual opening date for the shopping centre was September 25th 1979 and has over 260 stores inside. This might have changed quite a lot since the current recession and stores shutting down.
This will be an insight to what the centre has to offer and what you can find there.
Opening Hours
Monday - Wednesday
09:30am -- 06:00pm
Thursday - Friday
09:30am -- 08:00pm
Saturday
09:00am -- 06:00pm
Sunday and Bank Holidays
11:00am -- 05:00pm
Layout
The centre is laid out extremely well. You walk in through a door which is numbered. This door is the way back to your car.
Every so often you find...

Is there Life in Newcastle
Advantages: dry and warm on a cold day
Disadvantages: expensive, small
...I have just returned from a ?fun ?filled? family day out.. Life is an interactive museum in Newcastle upon Tyne, which we have driven past several times, and today a wet and windy day in the holidays we thought we would visit. So off we went my disabled mother, 10-year-old son, my 16-month old daughter and myself .
Getting Parked
When we arrived and followed the signs to the car park we were disappointed to find that the only official car park for the museum was a pay and display in the centre of Newcastle but when I asked the car park attendant what facilities were available for the disabled he advised me to drive round the car park and come back and speak to him. My first thought was great he is going to direct me to a disabled parking area near the entrance. No such luck, he said we could either fight for a place in this...

Newcastle
Advantages: The nightlife, the shopping, everything!!
Disadvantages: None!! A weekend prob isnt long enough!
...come into newcastle from the south. Its a really cool bar, in an impressive building (this bar is good whatever night you go) Stereo is just behind the Pitcher and Piano, and on a Sunday night it is Funky House. It is a truly fantastic night out- open till 1am, its the only place i'd recommend on a Sunday night. It gets really busy (and really hot) so i'd go at about half 10 or you'll have to queue for ages. there's a good mix of people, with no dress code (dress to impress, but i wouldnt go in a smart shirt, everyone dresses quite funky in here).
Overall, Newcastle has a fantastic nighlife, and there is something for every night of the week. If you are up for the weekend, you cant really go wrong, everywhere will be busy, but be prepared to spend quite a lot on a night out!!

Victoria Centre Nottingham
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...Nottingham has two large shopping centres, the Broadmarsh Centre and the Victoria Centre, situated at opposite ends of the city centre .The Victoria Centre is the bigger of the two, containing 120 shops (not counting all the various stalls in the market area.)
Getting there is easy - if you drive, there's parking for over 2700 cars . If you don't drive, don't worry - almost all the Nottingham City Transport buses stop either directly outside the Victoria Centre, or within a few minutes walk of it . Other bus companies from slightly further afield, such as Trent Barton , terminate at the local coach station within the centre . If you're walking, the centre is signposted from various points in the city centre, and at the end of the day when you're weighed down with shopping, there are 2 taxi ranks directly outside the main entrance...

The Galleon Centre
Advantages: Good Value for Money, Swimming Pool
Disadvantages: Some of the staff's attitude
...I have been a member of a few gyms over the past few years including a small local gym in which you felt everyone was looking at you in and also Fitness First but usually I end up not using my membership as much as I should do. In February 2005 I decided it was time to get in shape and chose the Galleon Centre, a fitness centre which was another I had previously been a member of, as the place I was going to join this time. One of the reasons that I chose the Galleon Centre was the fact that I could get discounted corporate membership through my fiancee's work at the local hospital.
**SOME HISTORY**
The old Kilmarnock baths which is where I had learned to swim when I was younger had been deteriorating for years and in the mid 1980's Kilmarnock Town Council decided that a replacement was needed. At this point with the Council...

Newcastle Attractions
Advantages: Lively, cosmopolitan city surrounded by stunning countryside and coast.
Disadvantages: None really - something for everyone - but wrap up outdoors!
...Newcastle upon Tyne and its surrounding area is a great place to take a short break.
This thriving and increasingly cosmopolitan City has major attractions, many centred on the lively and bustling Quayside area which has seen major redevelopment and investment in recent years.
Within a short stroll from each other , along the Tyne, you can visit the Baltic Art Gallery, the Sage music hall, and the Milennium Bridge (which lights up in different colours at night and moves to allow ships higher up the Tyne - timetable for movements of the bridge are available at the Information Centre on the Gateshead side of the river). The river itself has hosted the Tall Ships Race in recent years and has been honoured with visits from the QE2 and the Ark Royal. The Tyne Bridge is the crossing point for the Great North Run in September /October...

Newcastle Castle
Advantages: Quiet, as nobody seems to know it is there. Supports the Society of Antiquaries.
Disadvantages: Lots of steps and uneven ground. No toilets on site.
...Strange as it may be, it seems many people in Newcastle don't actually realise that the city has a castle. But then, I expect that quite a few of you who have never been to the city are a bit surprised that there is still one as well. When I mentioned to people that I had been to the castle keep, I tended to get blank stares, puzzled looks or suggestions that in fact I meant Alnwick castle - but there is actually the remains of a castle in the heart of the city.
To be perfectly honest, I didn't know there was a castle either until we were taken there on a field visit just before last Easter. And that is after 6 months of living in the city as a heritage student I might add. So, I think it is fair to say that the keep is something of a well-kept secret. I find it odd that the Society of Antiquaries who run the site don't advertise it...

Job Centre fiasco
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Too many to mention
...Very briefly as the wife of a man who was made redundant the thought of the Job Centre plus being helpful no longer exists.
As a mortgage holder and family with two school age children my husband was only entitled to Job Seeks Allowance (JSA). This was paid for 26 weeks and then after still not successful in securing employment, this was stopped. Because I work more than 20 hours a week (I am still only part time) I am expected to support the family and bills. My husband has never been asked how much I earn. This assessment is merely done of the hours I work and not the take home pay coming into the home.
Having never claimed any benefits at all before this (but we are in a recession as you all know) we enquired about training and extra help, but, alas, there was no entitlement apparently. As you only receive 5 minutes...

Wembley Job Centre
Advantages: By signing on every 2 weeks you get some money.
Disadvantages: The staff are not very well trained.
...My experience at Wembley Job centre
I am 47 years old and have never claimed a penny in benefits in my life. I have worked since I was 17 only taking 6 months maternity leave for each of my 2 children.
When I was made redundant on 6th July 2008, the last thing on my mind was signing on for job seekers allowance. However as time went on and it was clear I was not going to be able to get another job that easily I realised I would have to claim job seekers allowance in order to help us pay the bills and eat each month.
I first registered my claim on or around the 9th September.
I called the free phone number to register the claim and I found them very helpful and efficient. (or so I thought at the time)
They made me an appointment to see an advisor at Wembley Job centre on 17th September.
As I walked into the building in St...
