Sunderland v Newcastle

Advantages: Exciting, last derby for some time
Disadvantages: worrying first half, stupid Sunderland fans invading the pitch

...(first posted on my LJ, felt like sharing it here too) Went early, hoping to see some of the Newcastle players. So funny cos on the way all the signs that would normally say Stadium of Light said Stadium of S***e, lol!! Wonder if someone did that overnight or if it's been like that for ages! Anyway ended up round the the front of the stadium (by the river). After a while saw 2 Sunderland players go in but they ignored everyone. About 5 mins later looked down the left and noticed Liam Lawrence getting out his car and a crowd forming around it. I dashed down there and got pics and an autograph, saw 2 more players so got a few more pics and autographs which was nice (even though they play for Sunderland :p). Never saw the Newcastle team so they must of come really early! Unless they go in a different way. Got to about 2pm and all...

Are they strong enough to beat united?

Advantages: turning season for the team
Disadvantages: still need 1 or 2 changes

...Now this season after the revival under robson can Newcastle play like they did at st.james park last season beating united 3-0 ? now newcastle seem to be even stronger than last season with carl cort and our argentinian players fumaca and bassedas. untieds first game in the charity shield showed that they are beatable quite easily! we seem to be quite confident about this season and as long as we keep our chins up and play as we should we could make the top 5 teams very easily. robson could be the next kevin keegan to newcastle but lets see if he can take us all the way? i hope so....

Newcastle – Big things expected from them this season

...Bobby Robson has worked miracles at the club that looked certain to get relegated before he took over. He has fixed holes in the leaky defence, sharpened up the midfield and worked hard to get the most out of Alan Shearer. This season, I’d expect to see Newcastle finish in the top 10 and possibly fight for a UEFA cup spot. They are one of the biggest clubs in the country and have fanatical support, with the old master at the helm; I’m expecting big things of Newcastle next season. I doubt they’ll let Sunderland get as many points off them next season....

So if you're interested please do read on! ***The University*** >>>>>General Info Newcastle is an old red brick University and consequently it has some of those old beautiful red brick parts that they just don't build anymore (this is where you will find architecture and the buisness school). It has a fabulous reputation and I can vouch for this personally, I think it is just great. Things round here are also changing fast, just in the last couple of years that I have been here they have built a brand new very funky looking Georgraphy department and the Northern Institute for Cancer Resarch. Things are changing fast...

...Where do i start with this club? Ive followed Newcastle United since i arrived on this planet. Born into a geordie family with black and white blood i should have realised i was in for a rollercoster ride. I was born in Good Hope Birmingham whilst my mother, father and sister all born in Newcastle General. Due to my dads work commitments and my mum looking at a house in the Midlands i came 3 weeks early. A born and bread Brummie! Mediocre Magpies

Advantages: Good team on paper, that has been boosted by good signings. Good manager and passionate fans
Disadvantages: Bad luck with injuries. Not the team that was challenging United a few years back

...I am sure many people will agree with me that the last few seasons have been dazzling for the black and white army. More often than not they have disappointed and it seems an eternity from the days of challenging Manchester United for the Premiership crown under Keegan, even though it was only four years ago. Will the new season be any better for Newcastle fans? Last season Newcastle finished a disappointing mid-table last season in the Premiership. Admittedly they suffered a lot of injury problems, but it was still a let down for the whole team to finish such a disappointing way. That is not to say there is a lack of talent at St. James Park. On his day and free of injury Shearer is one of the best strikers in the UK, if not Europe, Peruvian international Nolberto Solano is a great midfielder, Kieron Dyer should have a good England...

Advantages: The nightlife, the shopping, everything!!
Disadvantages: None!! A weekend prob isnt long enough!

...I am a student in Newcastle, and it is a brilliant city to live in. I'm from a small little town so Newcastle was a bit of a change for me, but I love it! NIGHTLIFE: Nights out in Newcastle are excellent, i tend to just go out through the week, as even tho Fridays and Saturdays are both excellent nights out, wherever you go it is really expensive (so on these nights I would just stick to the student union). On a Saturday night you could pay about £10 to get in a club. Every other night out in Newcastle is also brilliant- and cheap too! On a Monday night I would go to bars in The Gate - a big complex with the Odeon ciinema, restaurants (such as Frankie and Bennys, Pizza Hut, The Spice Cube, Nandos, Ask,M.A Potters and a new one Bannatyne) and the fantastic bars (many of which are open late, and more like clubs than bars). Obafemi Martins review

Advantages: Explosive pace, power, shooting, excellent heading
Disadvantages: not the greatest passer or defender

...Obafemi Martins is a striker for Newcastle United Football Team (or soccer team depending on where you live) and is one of my favourite players. I have the privilege to watch him play every two weeks or so as I have a season ticket, and it is always an exciting game when he plays. He is explosive, he can run the 100m sprint in less than 11 seconds, and has such powerful shots that one of them is a contender for the fastest goal ever in the Premier league ( the screamer he scored against Tottenham Hotspurs). However, because of his unpredictability he sometimes misplaces passes or runs as his team mates sometimes do not always know what he is thinking. I would suggest checking him out by watching some of his old videos of when he played for Inter Milan, or watch him when Newcastle or Nigeria play (he is a Nigeria international) as he can...
