History shapes a town, Newport has only recently been granted city status, and so I will call it a town. Newport Rhode Island

Advantages: breathtaking scenery

...The smallest American state of Rhode Island only has 3 main towns (Newport Providence and Middletown) but Newport is most definitely my favourite. On our first visit to an American town we usually head straight to the visitor centre which are a mine of information. Unfortunately I was initially put off Newport because their visitor centre is in a run down area on the outskirts of the town. However I’m pleased that we continued on as the town is fascinating. Newport is at the southern tip of an island and is surrounded by water. There is a beautiful harbor area, which is also home to a shopping area and some rather pricey restaurants. ...Disney's Newport Bay Club Welcome to another review about a hotel at Disneyland Paris which I hope you will find useful if you are planning a trip there. I have now stayed at four of the hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Newport Bay Club, Sequoia Lodge and the Hotel New York) so only another two hotels until I have been to all six! Newport Golf Course

Advantages: cheap, not busy
Disadvantages: some very short holes

...I recently had the pleasure of playing 9 holes at the fairly new Newport golf complex. The cost of playing here is very reasonable six pounds for 9 holes or eight pounds for 18 holes. This kind of fee makes playing golf accesable to all members of the public. As we tee-ed off at the 1st (292 par 4) I was very suprised at the quality of the fairways, considering it is a pay-as-you-play course they were very good, as too were the greens. It does have one or two challenges though, the 170 yard par 3 ninth hole with water guarding the front edge of the green for example. Overall a thouroughly enjoyable golf course for beginner and seasoned campaigners alike!...

Rather than take my word for it, go down there and check it out yourself, I did and got myself a 4 year old car with only 15k on clock in new condition. To get there is quite easy, you just need to follow the M4 to junction 24 and head for the A455 leading to ringland but go passed Ringland. follow the A455 until you come to a roundabout, go straight on but it does bend to the left, at the 2nd roundabout turn left onto Queensway Meadows, follow this until you get to a roundabout and take a right onto Meadows Road and you can't miss it. Student dorms at hotel prices

...As we were going to spend our bank holiday weekend following Alice Cooper around the Celtic Manor golf course at the All Star Cup 2006 in Newport, South Wales, we needed to arrange for some accommodation nearby. After some debating about whether we should indeed stay in Newport or in Cardiff instead, we came across the Holiday Inn in Newport, which was described as being just opposite the venue. We were even more thrilled to hear that the prices were fairly reasonable and that the hotel allowed for late check-in, As I am a worrier by nature, I called up the hotel several times the week before our arrival to ensure that our room would not be given away if we checked in after 11 pm. ...The Newport Room is widely considered to be one of Bermuda's top restaurants. Indeed there really is only one other on the island that in my view could be considered to be of the same or similar ilk. During my two years living in Bermuda, I have been to the Newport Room three times, most recently in April to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is based within the Fairmont Princess Hotel in Southampton. Tables are greatly in demand from both local residents and visitors, so reservations are essential. For a Saturday night, I would definitely recommend booking a couple of weeks ahead. A nautical theme prevails in this restaurant. The entrance lobby is wooden decked and looks like a captains bridge. The main restaurant contains a lot of dark wooden panelling and the predominant colours are aqua and red. The theme is not overdone...

Banish that bulge and get bikini clad

Advantages: Friendly, lots of equipment, tv's to take your mind of it all and its pretty cheap.
Disadvantages: Er, its a gym. Oh, and it doesn't have a swimming pool.

...In a fit of anxiety a couple of weeks ago I decided to join a gym. I have to say it is quite a big thing for me, I haven't exercised in years and am not exactly built for speed! Still, I pulled my stomach in and braced myself... time to take action! I have to say that Fitness First wasn't my first choice but unfortunately Newport isn't blessed with a wide range of affordable gyms. At least not any that I was prepared to go to! So I took the plunge and started off with a 3 month membership. *HOW MUCH IS IT? I decided to start with a 3 month membership and work from there. At the time I joined there was no initial joining fee but I still had to pay the administration fee of £30. The monthly payments for a 3 month membership are £34 but if you join for 12 months this goes down to £28. I know that this varies across the country...
