Newquay Experience

Advantages: Nice Place to Visit and to Stay
Disadvantages: just a long car journey t

...NEWQUAY EXPERIENCE- Newquay is ideal place for a short break or family holiday there is so many things to see and do in and around and suits all tastes. If it is a Beach holiday you want then Newquay is great because it is situated on the north coast of Cornwall and it is blest with many lovely bseaches which you can surf and laze about on . Also if you are keen on walking there are coastal walks to venture on and while you are walking you will be able to take in the scenary and the breathe taking views around the coast line which I find amazing. There is a variety of places to safe from Hotels ,B&B, Guest Houses, Self Catering and Surf Lodges to choose from and this is depending on the type of holiday you would like to expericience. When I was there I managed to rent out an apartment which was in walking distance to...

Dynnargh dhe Newquay...

Advantages: A lovely part of the country with so much to see and do.
Disadvantages: prepare for lots of traffic!

......Welcome to Newquay Newquay can be a tranquil haven away from the stresses and strains of the fast moving urban life, it can also be a clubbers paradise. Last year following 3 months of stress completing a teaching practice and starting my dissertation I knew I needed a break. OK so 48 miles down the A38 may not seem like much of a holiday but it was. I like to visit Newquay 5-7 times a year for a day and at least once a year for a short getaway. ***NEWQUAY*** Newquay used to be a fishing village called ?Towan Blystra? (Cornish). Newquay is now known as the ?UK?s Surf Capital? and is a very lively place for tourists. Newquay?s climate is warm and is one of the places in the region where you may see palm trees growing. There are 7 miles of coastline with beaches to suit many people with different interests. The beaches are...

Summer camp, Penhale, Newquay hmmm

Advantages: New Friends, Lush views, New Things
Disadvantages: Tiring, 6'Oclock starts and the Weather On Occasions

...Summer holidays, the sun is shining, school is out and what do I choose to do?..army cadet camp in Cornwall - not exactly the best place to go and chill out and just relax - but it will do. Twelve whole days away from my mum, and my younger siblings - yay! Now before any of you lovely people say anything, this review is about Penhale camp, which is near Newquay - but because there is no Penhale section, I will put it in the Newquay section. From Wiltshire, it took us three hours to get to Exeter which was our lunch break. We stopped at Exeter service station - which can I add, is a lovely place to stop, with up to date toilet facilities, a restaurant, a burger king and a shop. There is also an outside play park for the children, and arcade games dotted about the place. From the service station, it took us another hour and a half to...

Newquay

Advantages: In the summer it's surf city
Disadvantages: Hen and Stag hell.

...I went to Newquay for the surf festival in 2003 with five of my mates. We stayed in Smugglers Haven campsite and 18 - 30s campsite just outside Newquay town. It took us 9 hours to actually get down there from the midlands, normally it would take about 3 or four but we had to detour a lot of traffic heading down there. Newquay is packed in the summer. On arriving at our muddy caravan park we were greeted by a few quite friendly shouts from various groups staying in their caravans near us. Every half an hour there is a double Decker bus that goes from the campsite and other campsites around Newquay into the town, this bus runs all day and late into the night. This is the golden snitch if your in a packed taxi queue at midnight and you see this bus run for it, it is only £1.50 for a single whereas taxies in Newquay can vary £10...

A cornish gem of an attraction just outside Newquay

Advantages: Japanese Zen, Bonsai,
Disadvantages: Would've been better when dry!

...We visited this year in July 2009 when on holiday in Newquay. I've only ever seen bits of Japanese gardens in the UK in parts of garden displays and never a full pure Japanese garden. It's a beautiful peaceful tranquil space where you could spend hours walking round, sitting, admiring the beautiful scenery and plants. I took over 100 photos while I was in the garden; they are on my website if anyone is interested. The Japanese Garden and Bonsai Nursery is signposted from the A3059, the main road into Newquay from the A30. It's just outside the village of St Magwan, and has a car park for at least 20 cars. You enter into the shop, which itself is amazing, lots of wooden carved dragons, and stones, books on Japanese culture, as well as Bonsai! It's open everyday 10am till 6pm and is £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for children to enter...

Ramblings Of A Newquay Native

Advantages: Good fun in the summer!
Disadvantages: Distinct lack of shopping!!!

...I’ve lived in Newquay all my life (Well, except when I defected to London for three years to do a degree!!) so I thought some of you might find it interesting to read a Local’s Guide to Surf City UK!! This may turn into an epic as I’m going to try and include everything and everywhere I go regularly as well as places I avoid like the plague!! (Don’t worry; I’ve sub-sectioned everything so you’re more than welcome to skip!!) So, as usual, grab a coffee, we could be some time!! (Actually, as it’s lovely weather, grab a Diet Coke!!) Be warned!! (And be afraid, be very afraid!!!) It’s bizarre really, living here. As it’s a tourist driven economy, locals don’t tend to see much of the summer!! In fact, the joke goes that you can always tell the Newquay residents in...

Newquay Arms - Welcoming Arms?

Advantages: Right in town centre, good range of cheap meal deals, good beer garden
Disadvantages: Bit tired looking and very dark inside. Not very welcoming to look at

...Newquay Arms, Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 1JF. Near Woolies and opposite HSBC Bank. On passing the Newquay Arms the menu and meal deals look good/tempting. Two for one deals for £5-6, with pictures, are displayed in the window looking appealing, but when you see other food offerings in the same part of town you could probably have a better/cheaper choice elsewhere. I suspect these are frozen/nuked on demand. Although I haven't actually eaten there. I'd advise you choose the beer garden to eat in as the interior of this pub is very old, dated, dark and quite grim and unwelcoming. Whereas other bars in Newquay have spent a lot of money/effort in revamping/redecorating/updating, the Newquay Arms hasn't. It's a great pub for including on a pub crawl, but don't plan it for your final destination. The interior is quite sparsely...

Newquay life

Advantages: Great place for youngsters to visit
Disadvantages: Can get too busy in the summer for the locals

...I live just outside Newquay and have been there about 9 years now. Newquay has grown much more busy over the years. When i first moved here it used to be packed in the summer but dead in the winter. Loads of the shops closed up etc. which was annoying. But now it is much busier all year round. Nightlife - can be good but it depends what music etc. you're into. I'm sure the tourists love it but for the locals it can be a bit tiresome. There's quite a few main clubs being: Berties - mainly plays house music and fun summer tunes. Can get a bit cheesy but good fun if you're on holiday. There's also a R n' B and hip hop room where you can chill out. There's an upstairs as well which can be a bit quieter if you need a break from the music. There are quite a few bars in the place and lots of seating. The queues can be rather big though...

THE CLUBBERS GUIDE TO...NEWQUAY

Advantages: Ideallic place for clubbers who like to have a change. Cheap, great atomospheric clubs and pubs!
Disadvantages: None

...Are you the Ultimate clubber or just the kind of person who likes a weekend away from home to check the nightlife out somewhere else for a change? Or maybe you’re the type of person whos out to club and live life to the max, or possibly the casual kind of clubber who goes out on occasional weekends? Whatever nightlife that satisfies your need, Newquay is the 'happening' place to be and will do just that. Through the eyes of the younger generation as well as the more mature this small town situated in Cornwall is the ideal place to let your hair down for the weekend and to enjoy its clubs and pubs no matter what your age group. Although if you prefer to experience the quieter side of Newquay then there's still plenty to keep you occupied such as the beaches and coastal walks, but as my opinion states I'm here to give the low...

Newquay - Englands Top Holiday Destination

Advantages: Amazing holiday destination
Disadvantages: None at all

...I'm writing this opinion from home, sadly my home isn't in Newquay, but it would be if I had a choice in the matter! Newquay is probably best known for its amazing surf, known as the "surfing capital of Europe" surfers flock from far and wide to Newquay's beaches (yes, there's more than one beach!) Fistral is probably the most famous of Newquay's beaches, and reputedly the best one for surfing, but my personal favourite is Lusty Glaze beach, not only is it absolutely beautiful but it's got a really cool name too! Perhaps because of the surfing Newquay is very popular with young people. In fact, it's probably the most popular destination in Cornwall for young people, and I would suspect that it's one of THE most popular destinations in the UK for young holiday makers - barring perhaps Blackpool. Shopping in Newquay is the usual...
