Newquay Experience

Advantages: Nice Place to Visit and to Stay
Disadvantages: just a long car journey t

...the town and for beaches. {Newquay & Fistral Beaches}.That was ideal as when we were there we did not have to use the car. To get to Newquay one can drive, take the train, bus or even take the plane . When you get there it is also easy to get around by walking, bus or even the car . Not only are there many sandy beaches to visit there are other places to visit such as the Blue Reef Aquarium, Dairyland Farm World and Trenance Park & Gardens and many other places to see these are only a few of them which I have enjoyed visiting during my trips down to Newquay. Also I have enjoyed the beach and one of my favourite one is Fistral Beach which the great sandy beaches which is very ideal for families and great for surfing. There are Fishing and Surfing Festivals which are very well supported so if you a re planning to visit Newquay around...

Dynnargh dhe Newquay...

Advantages: A lovely part of the country with so much to see and do.
Disadvantages: prepare for lots of traffic!

...Newquay. It is fairly easy to get there but at busy periods such as the summer, bank holidays, Christmas and Easter you can expect to be queuing along the A30 for quite a while (not very pleasant in a hot car). *by air* If however you want to start your holiday from the moment you step out of your door the local Airport is highly reliable with flights from Ireland (Cork, Dublin and Belfast), England (Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, London Stansted and London Gatwick) and Scotland (Edinburgh). *by rail* The train station is in the centre of Newquay and is close to the major hotels. Train services are regular to south west and a change will connect you to Newquay therefore the town is very easy to reach by rail. *by coach* National Express also provide a regular coach service from major cities over the UK, you may need to change...

Summer camp, Penhale, Newquay hmmm

Advantages: New Friends, Lush views, New Things
Disadvantages: Tiring, 6'Oclock starts and the Weather On Occasions

...Summer holidays, the sun is shining, school is out and what do I choose to do?..army cadet camp in Cornwall - not exactly the best place to go and chill out and just relax - but it will do. Twelve whole days away from my mum, and my younger siblings - yay! Now before any of you lovely people say anything, this review is about Penhale camp, which is near Newquay - but because there is no Penhale section, I will put it in the Newquay section. From Wiltshire, it took us three hours to get to Exeter which was our lunch break. We stopped at Exeter service station - which can I add, is a lovely place to stop, with up to date toilet facilities, a restaurant, a burger king and a shop. There is also an outside play park for the children, and arcade games dotted about the place. From the service station, it took us another hour and a half to...

Newquay

Advantages: In the summer it's surf city
Disadvantages: Hen and Stag hell.

...I went to Newquay for the surf festival in 2003 with five of my mates. We stayed in Smugglers Haven campsite and 18 - 30s campsite just outside Newquay town. It took us 9 hours to actually get down there from the midlands, normally it would take about 3 or four but we had to detour a lot of traffic heading down there. Newquay is packed in the summer. On arriving at our muddy caravan park we were greeted by a few quite friendly shouts from various groups staying in their caravans near us. Every half an hour there is a double Decker bus that goes from the campsite and other campsites around Newquay into the town, this bus runs all day and late into the night. This is the golden snitch if your in a packed taxi queue at midnight and you see this bus run for it, it is only £1.50 for a single whereas taxies in Newquay can vary £10...

Ramblings Of A Newquay Native

Advantages: Good fun in the summer!
Disadvantages: Distinct lack of shopping!!!

...the summer, as they’re the ones with pasty faces and bags under their eyes!! The sad fact is that the town is busy for three to four months out of the year so if you work in the tourist trade you have no choice but to make your money then!! Visitors in the summer months would not recognise the place in the winter, the previous summer’s new shops are deserted, the streets are devoid of people and the clubs only open a few nights a week. Newquay in the summer and winter are really two entirely different entities. (And I’m not telling you which I prefer!!) Anyhoo, enough rambling (for the moment anyway!!) and on with the all-important guide!! (By the way, these are in no particular order, just the order they popped into my head!! Psychoanalyse me if you like!!!) **Where To Eat** There are so many restaurants and fast...

A cornish gem of an attraction just outside Newquay

Advantages: Japanese Zen, Bonsai,
Disadvantages: Would've been better when dry!

...We visited this year in July 2009 when on holiday in Newquay. I've only ever seen bits of Japanese gardens in the UK in parts of garden displays and never a full pure Japanese garden. It's a beautiful peaceful tranquil space where you could spend hours walking round, sitting, admiring the beautiful scenery and plants. I took over 100 photos while I was in the garden; they are on my website if anyone is interested. The Japanese Garden and Bonsai Nursery is signposted from the A3059, the main road into Newquay from the A30. It's just outside the village of St Magwan, and has a car park for at least 20 cars. You enter into the shop, which itself is amazing, lots of wooden carved dragons, and stones, books on Japanese culture, as well as Bonsai! It's open everyday 10am till 6pm and is £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for children to enter...

Newquay Arms - Welcoming Arms?

Advantages: Right in town centre, good range of cheap meal deals, good beer garden
Disadvantages: Bit tired looking and very dark inside. Not very welcoming to look at

...Newquay Arms, Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 1JF. Near Woolies and opposite HSBC Bank. On passing the Newquay Arms the menu and meal deals look good/tempting. Two for one deals for £5-6, with pictures, are displayed in the window looking appealing, but when you see other food offerings in the same part of town you could probably have a better/cheaper choice elsewhere. I suspect these are frozen/nuked on demand. Although I haven't actually eaten there. I'd advise you choose the beer garden to eat in as the interior of this pub is very old, dated, dark and quite grim and unwelcoming. Whereas other bars in Newquay have spent a lot of money/effort in revamping/redecorating/updating, the Newquay Arms hasn't. It's a great pub for including on a pub crawl, but don't plan it for your final destination. The interior is quite sparsely...

* Ghost Town *

Advantages: Funny in places
Disadvantages: Not Funny throughout

..."He Sees dead people?and they annoy him" Bertam Pincus is a dentist. During an operation he "dies" for seven minutes but then comes back to life with the ability to see ghosts. You'd think that it would be pretty cool to see ghosts and be able to talk to them when no one else could see or talk to them. Although Pincus isn't too happy with his 'new-found-talent' ; watch Ghost Town to find out why! I'd read "quick" reviews about Ghost Town in various magazine and although I had a rough idea of what the movie was about , it wasn't a movie that I was planning on going to see at the cinema. It wasn't until I watched an episode of Friday Night With Jonathon Ross a few weeks back, where Ricky Gervais was a guest and promoting his new film , that I decided I wanted to see this film. It was the clip of the 'dog scene' that got me going! I...

Welcome To Lazy Town

Advantages: Great Fun and strong messages being sent to kids.
Disadvantages: None

...For anyone that has kids would know about Lazy town and for anyone that does not have kids think your self's very lucky. The new kids show that has lively music that also is annoying and sticks in your head for days. You can't watch a show without singing to at least one song. Though the best thing about this kids show is that it helps towards eating healthy and bans junk food. Lazy Town Well for anyone that does not know by now here is a quick recap about the show and about the characters. Lazy Town. For me this has to be one of the best shows that my kids watch. I like the fact that they are promoting healthy eating and getting active. Though don't except your kids to start eating fruit and veg immediately. My son does not and has not done since he was weaned. Though he has got a tad...

Home Town Blues

Advantages: A lovely historic City
Disadvantages: Little to do

...So , I'm mad at life in general and need to vent . I have chosen a topic well removed from the real source of my present dire state of mind in order to put the argument fairly and in a considered and slightly detached manner . I think this only fair to anyone who chooses to read . My home town of Lincoln was always a quiet place ?? City in name only , as its streets were relatively safe and peaceful , rather behind the times . We were a little removed from the rest of the country , being a conservative Cathedral city in a backwater county of mostly rural landscapes and outlying remote villages . The uphill area is stunning , narrow cobbled streets and little boutique style shops ( with prices to match , a bit of a tourist trap ! ) . Atop the hill sits the 9th century cathedral , magnificently ornate and visible for miles...
