ASUS P5N-E SLI - motherboard - nForce 650i SLI
Advantages: cheap overclocking abilities gd looking build quality highly upgradable
Disadvantages: asus wbsite very slow when wanting to dl updates
...if you are looking to upgrade your pc for gaming on a tight budget this is the best place to start for £70 you deffinatley get your moneys worth with all the features included
i bought mine when they was first released it was buggy but once the bios was updated all was fine
this board is the heart of one of my kick ass machines and that is exactly what it will do
This Motherboard is certified for SLI use
my only bad point
asus website very slow when wanting to download updates
why pay £150 for a striker extreme when this is half that
p.s my freind has the striker and i dont feel a diference at all apart from the striker boots up slower too much junk in its bios
the p5n is stripped to the core for performance all unneeded removed
it is easy to install and set up with good istructions to do so
and will even fit...

ABIT Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI - motherboard SLI
Advantages: cant fit them all here theres a big list in the review
Disadvantages: nope none
...this is the newest motherboard to my collection and the 1 i use the most when i got this one i noticed that all the specs and the layout of the board are identical to the asus board i reviewed earlier but more care has been put into this board a soon as you poen the box i noticed better packaging no cheap coragated cardboard wraped around this one it looked as it was a trophy in its own cabinet once you remove the board from the box there is a hidden door behind the board holding all the extra accesories inc 4x sata cables (asus only had 2) 1 ide cable for your cd drive and 1 floppy cable and 1 sli bridge for joining 2gfx cards together
on the picture of the product there a 3 black heatsinks the 1 on the bottom left the asus board does not have also this board has a spdif output (optical output for sound) which asus doesnt have also...

A great mid-price board for budget SLi systems
Advantages: Quick connectors, built in bios recovery, overclocking features
Disadvantages: No port 80 (LED diagnostics) display, angled IDE sockets
...of options for overclocking.
The onboard lan is 1000 Mbps as you would expect. The two IDE sockets face forward at 90 degrees to the board which actually made them more fiddly in my Antec superlanboy case. Also the cpu socket protector felt as though I might break the board when I removed it to fit the cpu.
Still, once the Zalman cooler clip was fitted underneath and the Q6600 cpu and cooler were in place, I stuck some memory in, connected the PSU and decided to fire it up. I noticed there was no port 80 card on the board but it turned out I didn't need it as the system came to life first go.
The motherboard comes with a full instruction manual and quick set-up guide, driver cds, SLI connector cable, 2 sata cables, an IDE and floppy cable and a molex to sata-power adapter.
I haven't overclocked this system yet but I'm getting core...

Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9SLI Mother Board
Advantages: reasonable price, for quick and easy overclocking, and great performance
Disadvantages: it has a SODIMM switch, which perhaps isn't welcomed by everyone as its an old feature.
...The Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI mother board is great start for anyone who wishes to puchurse a new motherboard, or perhaps start to build there own computer and just aren't quite sure what mother board to go for. Well i strongly recomend this product, its priced keenly and is focused almost exculsivly on forming the basis of a decent gaming rig.
The reason that the board is so much cheaper than other LGA775 boards is that it uses the nForce 650i SLI chipset, rather than the top of the range 680i SLi thats seen on more expensive motherboards, but i wouldnt worry its still a great board to go with.
Even though the board is brand new, theres a SODIMM switch between the two 8x PCI-E slots. This is used to manually set the board to single or dual graphics card mode, which is a fairly old idea, that perhaps more experienced gamers aren...

Gaming PC Motherboard
Advantages: Future Proof, Plenty of Upgrade allowance
Disadvantages: Large Components
...When I first set out to have a PC built for me, I found it remarkably quick and simple to choose the processor, graphics card, Ram and so on. However when it came to the Motherboard it was a whole different story.
My main driving points when selecting a motherboard were in the following order -
- Can it support the preselected components
- Support up to 8GB of ram for future upgrades
- Allow for an additional Graphics card to be installed
- Built in sound card with option to upgrade
This one I am glad to say after narrowing it down, met all my targets with flying colours. Next I got my PC built and delivered to my house... and this is how it's stood up so far.
On install of my own Operating System, I screwed up a few times and partially wrote to my Hard Drive but failed to complete the installation. (My fault entirely not...

Gigabyte GA-N650SLI-DS4L
Advantages: Great performance, reasonable price, no obvious problems
Disadvantages: Severe lifespan issues - do any last more than a few weeks?
...Let me start by saying that this is one amazing motherboard, at a reasonable price.
The installation of the board is very simple, with most of the connectors in useful positions, and no issues with large after market heat sinks. One thing I found especially good about this board is that it is slightly smaller than ATX - the height is the same, but the width is less. This means you can have a bit more space if your case is usually cramped.
The performance of this board is also very good, with 1333Mhz FSB and DDR800, along with SLI. Full voltage and temperature monitoring is also available.
As far as overclocking is concerned, this motherboard does not disappoint. The memory and FSB speeds can be set almost independently, and there are voltage options for many items, including FSB, northbridge and southbridge. The Easy...

One fatal motherboard - A8N SLi
Advantages: Many over normal boards
Disadvantages: price above average
...The first thing you may notice about this board is it's name, Fatal1ty. This don't make the board any more special just that the world class gamer Fatal1ty has teamed up with some companies to put his name on it.
Due to the fact I don't like spending much on motherboards I bought this 2nd hand and very impressed by it so far.
What?s in the box ?
You should obviously get the motherboard itself and all the usual cables/manuals/cd's and a guru control panel.
The guru control panel is a basically a panel that fits in one of your CDROM bays and has functions on it to allow you to ..
Monitor system
Monitor overclock features
Reset CMOS
Connect earphones and mic
Connect 2 USB 2.0 devices
Connect 1 IEEE 1394 device
It has an LCD display which you can monitor CPU speed, current time, temperature, fan speed, notification...

P5N32 SLi - Deluxe Motherboard
Advantages: Good quality, good build, high end specifications.
Disadvantages: Funny little heatsinks.
...Asus P5N32 SLi Deluxe nForce 4 Motherboard
It would be possible to go on forever about this device, but I intend to keep the techno babble to a minimum. Or at least that's the plan. As such I'm going to go through the main features in detail and then talk a little bit about the other bits.
The motherboard is very well designed and if anyone is interested comes with a slick black finish to the PCB (printed circuit board) and some interesting heatsinks draped across the board.
The first thing I thought when I saw these heatsinks was 'bugger'. They look pretty and they mean that you have no whiney little 40mm fans on the board (the smaller the fan the more high pitched the noise it produces, generally you can get fans between 12mm and 180mm). This cleaver design of heatsink also allows for the mounting of optional fans that come...

Top quality SLi motherboard
Advantages: SLI, price, feature rich
Disadvantages: Comparitively expensive
...Asus has consistently produced top-quality products offering both superior quality and features. The A8N-SLi Deluxe is no exception to this and offers a host of overclocking and other features and excellent build quality.
Installation of components onto the board is a relatively simple matter and thanks to Asus' Stack Cool 2 and the heat pipe system the board is incredibly efficient at dissipating heat.
However, the one problem I did have with the board was that the onboard Realtek sound card was a little tempormental with the bundled drivers and would not install at all on Vista. Fortunately, this is easily fixed by downloading the latest drivers from Asus' website.
In all this is a superb quality, feature packed, product from a manufacturer with a reputation for quality and service. If you are looking for a high...

A great ASUS motherboard
Advantages: Lots of ports/features, price.
Disadvantages: Slow to pass bois post
...I brought this from ebuyer a few months back, for my new system build. I wanted a motherboard which had plenty of features/ports etc, without braking the bank, and this does just that. With 4 USB port, 7.1 surround sound audio card, 4 rear USB ports + 2 headers, Printer Port, and even 2 PCI-E 16X for SLi and 2 PCI-E and 2 PCI card slots, which is a good use of the slots available, with the PCI-E sure to be used more in the future, with it's smaller and faster slot.
So, after unpacking, I found there to be a lot of accessories with this board, keeping up to ASUS's standards. I applied the headers to the case and installed the motherboard easy enough, connected everything up etc. and it was up and running. After setting itself up, I was able to install the operating system. The board had no problem installing the Sata hard drive and disc...
