Rechargeable NiMH Batteries

...So you've got all your holiday appliances, Battery powered digital camera, Digital Video Camera or Standard Video Camera, MP3 or CD player, and other battery powered appliances, trouble is.....it costs a small fortune to keep these things powered, and standard Nickel Cadmium ( NiCads) Batteries just don't last very long or hold enough power to work the camera, and on top of this these batteries have a memory which needs to be completely discharged otherwise afer a short period of a few recharging cycles thy wont hold a charge... ...There is not much to say about this, simply brilliant! Is very straight forward to use, only one switch to chose the type of battery to charge, insert the batteries, up to 4 depending of type, plug it in and wait until its charged. It comes with a charge indicator and will stop charging when the batteries are ready; a green light will come up. It can recharge batteries type AAA, AA and GF22, respectively up to 4, 4 and 2. I have purchased on a promotional campaign so the price is irrelevant, although you can find it at the big stores in promotion time to time. I have purchased another 2 battery chargers, a Uniross that only charges up to 4 AA type batteries but has the problem that you can?t forget to set a timer to unplug it or will over charge the batteries and will damage them. The best friend of a digital camera owner

...I had always thought that a rechargeable battery was a rechargeable battery, but I was proven wrong recently. I really discovered that there were two types of rechargeable battery having purchased a brand new Minolta Dimage 5 digital camera (op to follow soon!). I had just spent near EUR 1100 and was therefore somewhat taken aback that there were no rechargeable batteries supplied with it, just a set of alkaline batteries. Fortunately when I bought it, the shop assistant did say that I would have to get rechargeable batteries separately and that I would have to get NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rather than NiCd (Nickel Cadmium), as they have a higher capacity. So what is the advantage of NiMH over NiCd? A NiMH battery has a 30% higher capacity than a standard NiCd battery, which means of course that it lasts longer between charges...

the intelligent battery charger.

Advantages: Cheap, reliable, long lasting, reasonable price.
Disadvantages: Still gets warm. Plastic plug = breakable?

...believe that most of my batteries have charged in about 60 minutes, on a full charge from an empty battery. As well as getting the charger, which plugs straight into the wall it includes 4 x 2500mAh Ni-Mh AA's (which are in sliver, and look quite attractive, you won't get these thrown out as they definately stand out from panasonic and duracell) You can charge AAA batteries however the sale only comes with 4 AA batteries. It has a sensor control, a red and green light, to tell you when it is still charging and when the charge is fully complete. Another helpful feature is that it includes a car adapter for no extra cost. Uniross AA rechargable batteries

Advantages: Easy to charge, long-life
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...to make it work again - these seemed to remedy this. To re-charge the batteries, I use a Uniross Ni-Cd & Ni MH battery charger that I purchased by recommendation at the same time as the batteries. It takes about 4-5 hours for batteries to fully charge, which isn't bad considering they then last for weeks. The batteries can be charged up to 1,000 times. After the success of the AA batteries, we now use primarily all Uniross batteries to control our battery-fuelled appliances, including Uniross AAA batteries for our television, VCR and DVD remote controls, which last about 6 months. It has two LED's which light up green when both sides have batteries placed with in it, if you only place two batteries on the front only one LED will light up and vice versa. Advantages: Long battery life, easy to use, short charge time.
Disadvantages: Yet another wire to get tangled.

...It was only recently after I purchased by Xbox 360 system that I realised how much of a nuisance it was to have to switch the batteries in my wireless controller during the middle of a game, especially during multiplayer games. At first I considered buying a wired controller to use instead of my wireless one, but I found this great charging kit instead. The charger goes straight into the USB port in the front of the Xbox 360 system, whilst the battery pack clips into the place where the batteries would usually go. It makes no noticeable difference to the weight or the feel of the controller. The controller lights will begin to flash to tell you that you have under an hour of battery life left and that is when you plug in your charger. It only takes around an hour to charge the controller to a capacity that allows for 3-4 hours...
