A Niche Pastiche

Advantages: It works as a post-modern parody in places.
Disadvantages: It doesn't know what it wants to be and is hard to review as a result.

...of a curio - a kind of pastiche of a niche film style that will appeal most to those who remember and loved the original movies it is based on. It's unlikely to ignite a resurgence in the so-called Grindhouse style (cheap movies churned out in double-bills to low-rent cinemas). It's too silly to succeed as a horror movie, but not funny enough to work as a pastiche. If Rodriguez had spent a little more time making his characters likeable and less time weathering the film, it might stand a fighting chance of going mainstream. But there is too much quirk and not enough content, rendering this a cult classic at best. It might be worth a punt if it's on late-night TV, if you're feeling post-modern....

A nice woody-oriental find from a niche perfumer

Advantages: Balanced blend, natural essences, not overpowering
Disadvantages: Availability, full price

...the myriads of nuances in the composition that just like when you smell essential oils, varies from sniff to sniff. This is one of my staple items in my collection and you'll probably also like it if you like Annick Goutal or Guerlain fragrances with a woody-oriental theme made with real essences. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY The prices are relatively high though each new launch of fragrance benefits from a 50% discount which means a 50ml Eau de Toilette or Eau de Parfum can be bought for 25 euros instead of 49 euros. I bought my 50ml bottle of Ilya on Ebay France for 15 euros. The label is getting increasingly popular in London with department stores now stocking some of her range. I have to admit I'm not sure which of these stores as I no longer live in London. Ideal as a gift for a similarly high quality but less pricey equivalent to niche...

Wii Fit - Overall a good purchase.

Advantages: Fun for friendly competition

...The Wii Fit was a fantastic new addition to the Wii console. Although I was slightly dissapointed as it was not quite as "fun" as I had been lead to believe to be. However, the Wii Fit board is very cleverly made and really has covered a niche in the market for Games Consoles. From experience of using with friends and family, the Wii Fit tends to be more enjoyed by females as the Yoga and Muscle Work Outs are not quite as "vigorous" as many of my male peers would like. The BMI and weight section really makes you conscious of what you eat and how much excercise you participate in. The Fit Cash section allows you to add excercises in which you would never have normally realised would count. Such excercises: Walking to the bus stop, doing household chores and even cooking!
