FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

The Rescue - Nicholas Sparks, a story about love
Advantages: A wonderfully romantic story with complex undertones
Disadvantages: None
...The Rescue is a very good book, I feel it's safe to say that it is one of my favourite Nicholas Sparks books and as Nicholas Sparks is one of my favourite authors it makes it one of the best books that I have ever read. As with all his books this story is set in North Carolina. It starts off with a raging storm, one that could be considered record breaking. Denise and her son Kyle are driving along when their car skids off the road. When Denise comes round the fire department are there but her son isn't. This sends her into a major panic as not only is her son missing, but he is only 4 years old and he has severe learning difficulties. Taylor, a volunteer fireman, goes off in search of Kyle along with other members of the force. During this time he forms a connection with Denise and her son. Taylor is well known amongst his department...

Mixed feelings about St Nicholas's Fayre
Advantages: Lovely medieval setting
Disadvantages: It could have been a whole lot better
...The St Nicholas Fayre is one of many different Christmas markets that takes place in York during the festive period. Established back in 1992 it is the largest of them all and attracts the greatest number of visitors. It takes place over a four day period during either the last weekend of November or the first weekend of December. The 2008 event took place between Thursday 27th November and December 1st. Having just been to this market I thought that I would share my experience with you.
I arrived about 1pm although it is open from 10am until 5.30pm but I wanted to experience it both during the daytime and also after it went dark when I expected that everything would be illuminated. I have been to several small Christmas markets but my only experience of a large Christmas market is the one in Lincoln. This market continues until about...

Nicholas Sparks Is The Best Romantic Novelist.
Advantages: Great writer, ability to make me sob.
Disadvantages: Nothing.
...Nicholas Sparks got me back into reading again. At age 12/13 I was going through a stage when reading in my english class I would still a cosmo girl magazine in the middle and read that instead but then I got admitted into hospital and this lady offerd me "The Rescue". This is a true peice of romantic liturature. It made me smile, and made cry on one occasion but it's a book you just can't put down. The story reveleas many layers and is quite predicatable but's that's Nicholas Sparks.
His books are quite predictable, he does great romance novels but likes to have his readers sobbing by the end. I think "The Resue" was the only one I didn't cry in. He may be predictable, you always know something bad is going to happen, but he delivers them in so many ways.
The second book I read was "The Notebook" which is ultimatley my favourite...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Nicholas Evans The Loop - definately worth a read!
Advantages: A fantastic story conveying a range of emotions both from the characters and within the reader.
Disadvantages: I couldn't put it down so finished it too quickly.
...I have just finished reading Nicholas Evans' The Loop for the second time and was amazed at how much I still loved it. The descriptiveness of the character's surroundings paint such a vivid picture and draw you in almost as if you were there. This is definately a book that you just don't want to put down.
Evans effortlessly guides you through the past and present lives of the characters, building the readers understanding of current emotions and behaviour. This is true of not only the human characters but also of the wolves. I felt that he was showing the similarities in behaviour between human and wolf and the lack of understanding of these similarities which is what leads us to want to remove them in order to remain the higher ranking of the species.
As with his other books a rollercoaster of emotions runs throughout this story...

A Walk to Remember - Nicholas Sparks
Advantages: Hard to put down, Heart-warming
Disadvantages: It is not the same as the film
...A Walk to Remember is one of those books that can be very hard to put down, it has to be said that this is a trait for all of Nicholas Sparks books. I was initially disappointed with A Walk to Remember, having been a big fan of the film it seemed a shame that the book is quite different. However this was no longer an issue once I got in to the story. The story is heart-wrenching and very capable of producing tears from even the most cold hearted of people.
A Walk to Remember follows the story of Landon and Jamie, two teenagers from a small town. Jamie is a Baptist whose father is the local minister, she is a very understanding and forgiving person. Landon is a bit of a 'rebel' getting into lots of trouble, he and Jamie do not see eye-to-eye. Slowly throughout the story they begin to get closer beginning a heart-warming romance. This...

Can Long Distance Love Work?
Advantages: emotional, great characters and story, very easy to read
Disadvantages: Hours of sleep lost by not being able to put it down!
...here when John is having to say goodbye to the one person whop has ever went anything to him, will their relationship be able to survive the long distance and the whole 12 months away and just what effect with the attacks on American on 11th September have on John and his friends? Will John ever get to have a relationship with his father?
I really have become a fan of Nicholas Spark?s books, this one being the 4th I have read now. I found the previous ones to be very involving and emotional and I have to say that this one was just as good. The main character in this story is John who we learn a lot about. I did feel very sorry for him at the start of the book as he seemed very lost and angry with his father but I am glad he mellowed and changed as the story moved on. I loved how Nicholas bought the character to life in the way he wrote...

A Man Wrote This?!?!?!
Advantages: Emotional, gripping, excellent story
Disadvantages: Need a tissue for the last chapter
...the wedding plans be completed on time?
I was completely hooked on this book right from the very first page. I think Nicholas Sparks has a wonderful writing style which make for very easy reading and also very emotional reading. For some reason he is able to put across so many emotions in his writing and again in this book I was fighting back tears at the end. I loved the way he carried this book on from the Notebook and I did enjoy finding out about Noah?s children and I am so pleased that Noah was still alive in this book as he was a great addition to the story.
All of the characters were wonderful and I loved them all. I think the fact that the story was mainly centred around Wilson and Jane was not too overpowering as we still had other characters involved, especially the daughter who was planning the wedding. I did like how Noah was...
