Nick Cave and the Bad seeds, with good and bad
Advantages: The "best" of nick cave and the bad seeds, Cave's vocals, great songs, wonderful lyrics
Disadvantages: Some "bad" songs
...Nick Cave and the Bad seeds put their best songs together on an album and this is what we end up with. A sixteen track CD, wich has songs dating right through their career together (almost). Cave got with the Bad seeds in 1984 and this album goes as far back as that an all the way upto 1997 (The boatmans call). The album takes songs from each of the albums in this time peroid (though as the inlay booklet confess, not in chronological order).
Cave and the bad seeds, have been described as being "Post-punk", "alt-rock" and "rock" all of these and more could be used to explain the bands sounds. Caves deep vocals as well as the musical arrangements which spand from simple to incredibly difficult, mixed with the dark and deep lyrics, allow this album to be a show case of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.
So the songs list from their rather...

NIck Cave's greatest achievement
Advantages: Great lyrics, Great songs, Great Concept, Great Album
Disadvantages: You will become a lifelong fan of Cave, costing money,
...Murder Ballads is possibly Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds most well known album, partly thanks to the duet with Kylie Minogue, but mainly because it is one of the greatest albums ever released.
The concept was that each song would tell a tale of murder, amongst other subjects, and the addition of some guest stars playing the parts of different characters (PJ Harvey on "henry lee" and kylie on "where the wild roses grow") simply adds to the effect. It also finds Cave at his best lyrically, not only with his own brand new compositions, but also when taking traditional songs and giving them his own sadistic twist, as on what is possibly his heaviest and dirtiest ever song, "Stagger Lee".
When you take into account that all these tales are completely seperate, it is amazing how well the album flows together. The heavier tracks such as "The...

Nick Cave Doing What He Does Best
Advantages: Some Outstanding Tunes, some of Caves best works
Disadvantages: takes time to grow on you
...Nick Cave is probably one of the most critically aclaimed song writers of our era - and not without reason. Ever since his days with The Birthday Party he has been releasing album after album of stunning songs. Coming across like a dirtier Tom Waits at times (if that is possible?) and at others bringing you some beautiful love songs - he has always been moving forward creatively with his music.
The Lyre Of Orpheus / Abattoir Blues continues this journey. Double albums usually prove to be notoriously difficult to pull off, but this is definitely not a problem for Mr. Cave and his Bad Seeds. Each disc is packed with stunning stories of love, australian life, and even a spot of murder to keep the old school fans happy. It also provides Nick with one of his most commercial outings yet - in the form of first single from the album, "There...

Cave's violent set of songs will make you rejoice!
Advantages: Cave proves to be near unrivalled lyrically, The Bad Seeds are amazing musicians
Disadvantages: If you don't like things dark and violent then... go buy James Blunt.
...recorded so they set about mixing it themselves after kicking the producer, David Briggs. Amazingly, Cave was still reportedly unimpressed with the production. I find this very surprising as it is the production that I think adds to this album so much.
So what about the songs? There are so many of high quality, it is hard to know where to start. The songs here fall into two categories ? The sweet and tender (Straight to you) and the violent & vicious (John Finn?s Wife); only the beautiful Loom of the Land falls somewhere between the two ? a tale of two lovers, possibly fugitives, crossing ?The loom of the land?.
One of my favourites here is Brother, My Cup is Empty. Cave snarls in disgust of how he ?Cannot blame it all on her? but how he ?wished he had watched her die?.
In almost every song Nick Cave inhabits a character...

The cave
Advantages: A pretty unique horror
Disadvantages: none
...The cave is a story about a group of scientists who are looking for new types of life in some underwater caves.A team of scientists and caving experts travel deep into the caves and set up a base camp, but very soon it becomes clear the leader of the team is behaving a little strangley,Not knowing if he is turning good or bad the team realise they have another problem, someone or something is following them and picking them off one by one
This film was realeased the same time as the descent i belive and i actually prefer this one,its about halfway through before you find out what is following the team but what i like is the team fights back, the girls dont wonder off on there own and get into trouble but actually use there skills to fight bac, with super special effects and cgi the plot is good and it all leads to a thrilling ending i...

The Cave
Advantages: Paced Horror, Good looking cast
Disadvantages: Nothing original
...I had never had of this film before till i saw it a few days ago on TV.
The cave is a horror film directed by Bruce Hunt who was director assistant to the Matrix Revolutions and matrix Reloaded.
This film is based on a group of cave divers and scientists who explore a new found cave in Romania. While on their big adventure deep into the cave disaster strikes when rocks fall and block the exit they find that are not alone.
Now they have to find a way out and at the same time survive the deadly attack of the deadly creatures in the cave. The team continue finding items and bones that belonged to human beings and this continues to put them on edge.
One of the team members gets attacked by these creatures who is witnessed by his team member and it looks like there is more to it than just a creature.
The scientists discover that there...

Chislehurst Caves
Advantages: v.interesting, for all the family
Disadvantages: if you don't like the dark then it's probably not for you
...Introduction:
Chislehurst Caves are miles of mysterious passageways hand cut from the chalk stone to form an enormous labyrinth covering more than 20miles in length and at a depth of up to 30 metres beneath the Chislehurst woodlands. The caves were dug over a period of 800 years and were originally formed in the process of searching for flint and chalk.
Recent History:
In 1914 the caves became part of the Woolwich Arsenal and were used as an ammunitions depot. They only remained as a depot for a few years and were then used by the Kent Mushroom Company who grew mushrooms in the caves because of the dark and moist conditions which were great for the growing crop. This was brought to an abrupt end however with the outbreak of the second world war. Chislehurst caves were overnight transformed into the biggest air raid shelter outside...

Colossal Caves
Advantages: Fascinating, reasonably cheap day out
Disadvantages: Caves can be cold and damp and it is easy to trip up!
...Alley" in the South which also suffered dreadfully from bombs deliberately discharged on the flight back to Germany or simply missed aim. With grim determination people found shelter over night and emerged the next morning to pick their way over the rubble to work. Those in Central London found ideal underground shelters in the tube stations. In Outer London, where gardens were more plentiful, Anderson Shelters were provided to many families. However for the people living in the suburbs of South East London there was a ready-made shelter just waiting for them.
The caves at Chislehurst are a labyrinth of entirely man-made tunnels - up to 20 miles of them - below the homes and gardens of the area. The caves are thought to have been started by the Druids (although this is open to debate) and were continued by the Romans and Saxons in order to...

The Proposition-Fantastic Film-Equally brilliant Soundtrack.
Advantages: Brilliantly soothing background music.Beautiful&breathtak ing, ties in tightly with essence of film
Disadvantages: Some might not feel it stands alone from movie.Lots of instrumental pieces people might not like.
...The Proposition is a film written by Nick Cave and this is the soundtrack (also written by Nick Cave) to the movie.
The film is a western set in the Australian Outback during the 1880s. It's about family conflict, love and loyalties. Its a really edgy and brilliant movie but I will stick to descriptions of the album...although by rights the two should be acknowledged together.
The album features 16 tracks that set the tone and feel for the movie beautifully. The overal feel of the album is ghostly and contemplative (what else could you expect from Cave!) There is something descriptive about it that paints the picture of the emotional and physical landscape of the film without you really needing to see it. This is definitely what my husband would call 'feely' music.
The collaboration of Cave and Warren Ellis (co member from...

The Cave-man cometh...and he rocks!
Advantages: May be the most accessible album for new fans!
Disadvantages: May not be the most accessible album for new fans.
...Nick Cave has been gothing it up for the best part of three decades and shows little signs of giving up the (dark, chair-rattling, Old Testament thumping) ghost just yet.
His Birthday Party was at the forefront of punk, getting hyped for song titles as leftfield as ?Big Jesus Trash Can? when I was in short-trousers and listening to Pinky and Perky.
The Bad Seeds albums have seen the emergence of a mature, song-writing Cave, now more likely to get his kicks from a piano ballad than bone-crushing guitar noise.
But as his latest double album Abattoir Blue/The Lyre Of Orpheus shows, his healthy love for the darker side of the soul and the mysticism of God are as strong as ever.
And with velveteen song titles such as Cannibal?s Hymn, Fable Of The Brown Ape and O Children and lyrics to match he has lost none of his sly sense...
