Niquitin cq lozenges (4mg)
Advantages: great aid to quit smoking
Disadvantages: none
...I give up smoking two years ago, but it was not easy, I tried the gum and the nicorette inhaler and I failed with both attempts. I had smoked for 14 years, so I new it was not going to be easy, I smoked 40 - 60 fags a day and I new I couldnt quit with willpower alone.
I went to my GP and he was prescribing medicine, that could make you take fits, so I decided not to bother with this idea, as I would probably be the unlucky one who would take the fits. So I went to my local chemist and they informed me about Niquitin cq lozenges, they cost around £8.00, they advised me these would be good for me as I would have smoked my first fag within 30 mins of waking in the mornings.
So I got them home, read the label and discovered that there were some mild side affects, one of them being hiccups which for the first few days I got the hiccups...

nicorette gum yuck
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: Sickness burning still want to smoke
...I am a smoker and have been for quite a few years. I have tried many options of quitting and always faild due to will power more than anything. If you dont want to quit you wont unfortunatly.
This product was probably the worst I have ever tried tho the Nicorette version is exepensive to say the least that is the first down fall but you can get cheaper versions that will only cost you from about a £1 poundland did do one but I havent seen them in there lately but if you do want to try them i would look for the cheapest version due to they taste the same which is nasty and they burn your throught and tongue and that nasty taste will last in your mouth for what seems forever.
I cant say that they work due to the taste I wouldnt have one when I did get a craving I would much prefer to have a cigerette. If you do want to quit...

Niquitin CQ Lozenges - Have helped me!
Advantages: Helps you to quit smoking! I found it helped with food cravings
Disadvantages: Funny taste to begin with
...I was recommended these by my GP when visiting their 'stop smoking' clinic. I found the lozenges very useful and help with any cravings. They come in 4mg for heavier smokers and 2mg for the milder smoker. The flavours are either plain (taste a bit sweet) or mint flavour (Minty!). You are meant to place one between your cheek and gums and alternate between each side of the mouth, they slowly dissolve in about 30 mins or so. The great thing I found with the lozenges was it helped with food cravings especially as you cannot eat or drink when you have one in your mouth. The taste takes a short while to get used to (a bit spicey maybe?) but not long. You start with 1 lozenge every 1 - 2 hours then gradually reduce the amount you have over a period of time (The pack comes with instructions). Overall I found this to be a good product and have...

Who fancies a post-coital Nicotine lozenge?
Advantages: May ultimately help me to live longer
Disadvantages: Nausea, Cheaper to smoke
...For anyone that has seen either my drunken ramblings on here or on ciaochatting you will know that I have given up smoking. Today is day 20 or something but basically I am in week 3. I have had a couple of lapses (mainly after alcohol) but essentially I am there and the NiQuitin CQ Lozenges have helped this. But lets get this straight - unless you really want to quit you never will.
For me the turning point was my mum. I know it?s a disgusting habit that will eventually kill me (that?s presuming my liver doesn?t give out first) and although I meant to give up it never actually happened and being 28 and having smoked for 12 years I didn?t even know if I would be able to give up. Then my mum had a routine mammogram and it showed a lump that they biopsied for cancer. Now my mum has never smoked, barely drinks and eats a very...

Nicorette gum
Advantages: are a good help if you are trying to quit smoking
Disadvantages: are expensive
...My husband was the smoker and had been smoking up till just over a year ago. My husband had been smoking since the age of 12 and seemed like he was smoking 40 a day but he only took a few puffs of the cigarette and put it out and about 5 minutes later would light up another cigarette. My husband just decided to throw his tobacco in the bin and said that today was the day.
Anyway back to the subject of the nicorette gum my husband has been on these for just over a year and first he got them on the nhs and then he started buying them which are £5.69 for 30 pieces at the 2mg low strength and at that price every couple of days (as my husband gets them every couple of days) it does get quite expensive and he is finding it hard to quit because he still feels he needs the nicotine after a year and is finding it hard not to have the nicotine...

Using NiQuitin Lozenges
Advantages: Effective, clean and easy to use
Disadvantages: Expensive (24p.per lozenge)not easy to stop and only available in "Mint" flavour
...I gave up smoking on the 1st.July 2002 and have not smoked since. I followed the instructions right down to step 3. Present consumption is 4 a day. Getting off the lozenges completely is proving difficult as the initial withdrawal symptoms return albeit in much reduced intensity. The leaflet says do not use beyond six months so I have until the end of Dec.2002, but is
it wise to continue although it is obviously better than smoking, in my particular case. The active ingredient is nicotine so are we lozenge users still smoking by proxy? Another constituent is Aspartame which is surrounded by some controversy----search on a web-engine for information. Like a lot of ex-smokers I am concerned about re-starting but a good read up on C.O.P.D. (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Emphysema and the big "C" restores determination rather...

Nicorette ? The jaw breaker?
Advantages: You can smoke (chew them) anywhere :O)
Disadvantages: You need willpower to stop chewing it!
...in front of you :O) and you had to keep putting it out to save for later. By the time you got down to a length that was normal for a cigarette it tasted so stale and nasty but you smoked it anyway! Can you imagine, all these kids with cigarettes as long as they were tall and thinking they were soooo cool.
The advertising in those days reported smoking to be a good thing, a cool thing and a beneficial thing. I remember the famous ad with the slogan of ?You?re never alone with a Strand? Oh how times change! I finally ended up smoking the low tar cigarettes as, by this time, it was known to be dangerous. I smoked approximately 20 a day, which I was quite proud of really. It could have been a much larger number considering my past smoking record. I decided one day that it was time to ?give it up?
I bought Nicorette chewing gum...

NICORETTE INHILATOR
Advantages: Cheap, Imitates cigarettes,
Disadvantages: Tastes horrible
...I had been a smoker for 10yrs and smoked 15 to 20 cigarettes a day. I decided to stop and used the nicorette inhilator. It works by providing you with nicotine which is the addictive componet of cigarettes. This way you get the nicotine you crave without any of the dangerous side effects assocaited with inhaling cigarette smoke.
On the plus side its cheaper than most other stop smoking alternatives. I also found that it was benefical as its hand held and gave me something to do with my hands. As a smoker your used to having a cigarette in your hand and I feel that your missing out on this when you use the patches or tablet supplements.
On the down side the inhilator doesn't taste very nice, but I found that I eventually got use to it. It also totally took away my craving for a cigarette which I didn't think it would be able to do...

Banish that cigarette with nicorette
Advantages: helps you to quit
Disadvantages: Its obvious your wearing it, can peel off
...the body is decreased.
So there you go...quick overview of that...
*****The Patch*****
This method may not be suitable for everyone...it's the same with many things, but I would suggest to give it a go. This particular patch is 10mg in strength and is designed to last 16 hours. It is meant to be put on first thing in the morning and taken off before you go to sleep.
There are two main makers of patches: Nicorette and Nicotinel, then there are companies own brands but as there are a few to list I've left them out.
Nicorette range from 15mg (the highest they make) to 5mg (the lowest). 10mg is the other strength patch they make.
----Appearance----
Well the higher the strength the larger the patch. The 10mg patch is 5 1/2 cm in length x 4 1/2 cm in height. The patch is contained inside a white foil wrapping which can only be...

Nicorette!They worked for me!
Advantages: I've quit!
Disadvantages: Slightly itchy, and whatever you do, don't fall asleep with one on!
...just paying it all in one go that makes it seem like a shock!
The 15mg patches are huge, but just look like plasters with "nicorette" written on. You apply them first thing in the morning on dry clean skin, with no talc or moisturiser or oil on, and just leave them on until you go to bed! Easy peasy! You put them on your upper arms, upper chest or hips, taking care not to put them on the same place on two consecutive days, to avoid irritation.
The first patch I applied gave me a sort of Nicotine rush, like having the first fag of the day when tired. But my body soon became accustomed to this and that was the only time it happened.
One time I did fall asleep with the patch on, woke up in the morning and felt terrible the next day, very groggy and irritable, like I had fog in my head lol. So make sure that you follow the instructions...
