Nigel Mansell

Advantages: Great Driver
Disadvantages: None

...Nigel Ernest James Mansell ************************** Born August 8, 1953 Nigel Mansell is an English former racing driver who won world championships for both Formula One in 1992 and in CART in 1993 Nigel Mansell's Biography ************************* Nigel Mansell was born in 1953 at Upton-on-Severn which is a small town in Worcestershire. Most of his childhood was spent in Hall Green, Birmingham. He attended the Rosslyn School, then Hall Green Bilateral, before studying engineering at Matthew Boulton College. Using his own money to help kick start his career in motor racing he had a fairly slow start, despite suffering from a broken neck in an accident Mansell took part in the British Formula Ford Championship in 1977 and become a Champion. As a result of Mansell's accident doctors had told him he had to be confined...

FREE DVDs

Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review

...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them. ∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊ Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Nigel Mansell

Advantages: Good in his prime
Disadvantages: Fortunate to always have good cars

...Good Old Wonder Nige! He was everyones hero during the 1980's. Always the Bridesmaid but never the Bride was the best statement I ever heard about this man. The Moustachio man from the Isle of Man, joined the Formula 1 Circus in 1980, driving for the infamous Colin Chapman and team Lotus. This was an inspired move by Chapman who realised his days as a Formula One leader were slipping by. It took Nigel 4 years of trying with the Lotus and along the way scoring a couple of podiums and a Pole Position in Dallas, before his talents were spotted by a team worthy of him and he signed for the powerful Williams Honda Team. With Sir Frank, Nigel experienced one of his most successful periods of Motor racing. Scoring 2 race victories in his first year with the team (South Africa and European), much was expected of the young Englishman...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Mr. Slater's Diaries

Advantages: Seasonal food at its best accompanied by beautiful photographs.
Disadvantages: None that don't sound far too picky!

...One of the many problems I have with supermarkets is that they try to persuade me that any fresh fruit and vegetable I want is available all year round. I can eat fresh raspberries in January, green beans in February, leeks in June, asparagus in October and strawberries for Christmas dinner. The problem is that they'll have been flown half way round the world and taste of little more than wasted money. What I needed was a book to flag up when food is at its peak and give me some hints as to how it can best be used. Nigel Slater is an obliging man. For more than a decade he's written a food column in The Observer. I've read him slavishly and he's had more influence on the way I buy and prepare food than anyone else. I think I've read just about everything he's written and when I thought of a book I needed he wrote "The Kitchen...

Review of The Kitchen Diaries - Nigel Slater

A shocking and fascinating book

Advantages: Fascinating and informative
Disadvantages: A little sensationalist, accuracy of information is sometimes questionable

...were killed, many with machetes. 'The World's Worst Atrocities' is a very sobering book full of gratuitous violent imagery and incomprehensibly large death tolls, although its author Nigel Cawthorne does a reasonably good job of illustrating the political and historical backgrounds to the massacres he describes, making it informative as well as shocking. Though the book is rather sensationalist it is also well written, and the horrors it describes are fascinating in their scale and depravity, especially as many are within living memory. As there is no bibliography or list of references included it is difficult to ascertain the accuracy of Cawthorne's figures and descriptions, but as an introductory text to some of the worst cases of man's inhumanity to man, 'The World's Worst Atrocities' is well worth a read. Summary: A fascinating...

Growing up is hard to do

Advantages: Genuinely honest look at a teenage boy growing up
Disadvantages: May be overlooked due to the dynamic novels of today

...The novel Buddy is suitable for readers aged 10-16 and has been frequently used in secondary schools as a class reader. However, adults may find it entertaining and may like to read it also. It is a good novel with the availability of two sequels as well as a drama and a film based on the sequel Buddy's song (with Roger Daltrey as Buddy's dad and Chesney Hawke as Buddy himself with the infamous song "One and Only") Nigel Hinton is a confirmed novelist of children's books and his works have won prizes for literature and it is easy to see why. Buddy is a realistic look at social issues today without becoming too heavy. Buddy Clark is the main character and is growing up in a house with very little money with his Buddy Holly loving Teddy Boy father and his increasingly dissatisfied mother. After Buddy steals some money for a school...

Forever Number 2

Advantages: Talented keeper
Disadvantages: Always in the shadow of others

...Nigel Martyn was born on 11th August 1966 in St. Austell, just weeks after England?s famous World Cup victory over West Germany. It was in August 1987 that Martyn got his first taste of professional football, at Bristol Rovers. In the two years he was at Bristol Rovers, he notched up an impressive 124 appearances. However, his big break came when South London outfit Crystal Palace signed him for £1million. In almost 7 years at Palace, Martyn played for the Eagles 349 times, making a big name for himself in British football. He was sold for £2.25million to Leeds United in July 1996, playing 273 times for them, before being edged out of the first team by Paul Robinson. In September 2003, Martyn moved to Everton for a mere £500,000. So is this the beginning of the end for Nigel Martyn? Although not completely over the hill, he...

Poor old Nige

Advantages: Experienced and usually reliable
Disadvantages: Failed to shine given the opportunity

...Nigel Martyn has had to sit in the shadow of David Seaman as far as international football goes, for the last few seasons. Unfortunately for him, as Seaman continues to age yet further and has reached the ripe old age of 37, and is fading from the international scene, he injures himself taking a goal kick in a match, and is replaced by the brilliant prospect for the future Paul Robinson - at the time an unheard of young 'keeper, who performed incredibly well for Leeds in the Champions' League against Real Madrid and Lazio, which led to national recognition and the possibility of inclusion in the England Squad as the number two goalie. Robinson's form has in fact been so good that he has done what every youngster needs to do to oust an older and more reputed player - he has made himself impossible to drop. Given a chance, he has...
