Advantages: cheaper than flying/trains at short notice
Disadvantages: much slower than most other transport options

...So after my happy experience travelling the other weekend I'm off on my travels again, this time risking a foray in to the world which my parents inhabit. So as Bolton has no airport, Lydd has no train station but both have bus stops it seems logical that I would consider getting the coach to Bolton. This is as far as I know the only national coach service in the UK (although in Scotland it is run under the City Link name) and is a member of the european Eurolines coach network. I booked my travel using the nationalexpress.com website the site is mildly confusing if you don't want to use one of the their funfare or travel from one of their more popular stops. A Struggling Nation

Advantages: Discworld novels always have entertainment value
Disadvantages: A little too ordinary

...I am a huge fan of Terry Pratchett books, I would like to make that clear first of all, but Nation just did not work for me. I am sure there is an army of fans who will disagree and possibly want to see me go the same way as Cox, the story's eventual villain, despatched with an axe in the chest, but I have to stand by my words. I would always recommend reading Pratchett's books, including this one - they are always entertaining and take you away from the hum drum of the everyday, which is what a book should do, but compared to previous Discworld books Nation just does not compare. As the main character, Mau, struggled to come to terms with his sudden launch into the adult world by means of a tsunami that wiped out his entire island I found myself struggling to keep the pages turning. What makes your Nation?

Advantages: Easy to read and enough twists to keep you interested
Disadvantages: Similar theme to a lot of current films and books

...I'm not normally a fan of Terry's writing outside of Discworld, however this book peaked my curiosity and when Waterstones had a half-price offer on, I picked it up and brought it home. For a book I wasn't expecting to be so impressed with, I read it in just over a week of bedtime reading! For those that don't read Pratchett, he created the Discworld, which is a parallel of our own world except with magic and trolls and Corporal Nobby Nobbs. Most of his books have been set there, and a few of those books have reached a broader audience as movies made and broadcast by SkyTV. One of his non-Discworld books, Johnny and the bomb, was also made into a mini-series shown on the BBC.
