Nikon Coolpix 80
Review of Nikon Coolpix P80 by
Questers
Advantages: Top of the range for quality and usage
Disadvantages: Cost if anything
...My partner and I own the previous Nikon and are currently looking at upgrading to the Nikon Coolpix 80. The price is very reasonable we think as the quality of Nikons are second to none. We even managed a discount when we first purchased ours from Jessops in Derby due to my partner being a student photographer. We have had only a few problems with our existing Nikon which is why we are likely to purchase the new Coolpix 80. The customer service at Nikon have been extremely helpful with advice on technical issues and user problems, they have even sent us a news lens cap when we lost ours during a weekend away. Although we use ours predominately for the family, my partner is now a professional photographer and he will use nothing but Nikon. The cameras are exceptionally easy to use and very friendly to none users like myself and our...

Nikon Coolpix S200
Review of Nikon Coolpix S200 by
salar15
Advantages: Functions well in daylight; looks good and is fairly compact
Disadvantages: Picture quality is middle-of-the-road; is awful in low light
...The Nikon Coolpix is a good-looking camera; that is not to be doubted. I was initially very pleased with it, but have since been a little underwhelmed. Although I think Nikon are a very good company who on the whole turn out some excellent products, I am unconvinced that the S200 is one of their best pieces of work.
My main gripes are twofold. Firstly, I do not think that the picture quality is anything better than average, and there are certainly better options out on the market elsewhere - I believe Olympus cameras to be very strong in this regard. Secondly, despite the emphasis on its high ISO settings in the marketing for the product, I have been unimpressed by the camera's ability to take photographs in anything much less than broad daylight. The only way that a photo with remotely decent resolution can be taken...

Good but flawed
Review of Nikon F70 by
kingbing
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...I've used a friend's camera fairly extensively. It's a perfectly okay camera, but for me it is basically flawed.
Most people choose between Nikon and Canon. I'm a Nikon user because I value the fact that they are more robust and there's greater compatability. That's tru of the F70. However other may choose the Canon's beacuse hey are lighter and easier to use.
The F70 represents the best and worst of Nikon. It's a well made camera with plenty of features for the advanced amateur. It's has a high max shutter speed and a good flash sync speed. But it shows it's age in the way you use it. Basially the user interface is horrible. I know some who like it, but not many. Changing anything seems to require holding down multitudes of buttons ot going through several menus. You cn get used to it, but better for the controls...

Nice addon for your Nikon
Review of Nikon MC 30 Cable Remote control for Camera by
underworldmagic
Advantages: Long exposure shutter lock.
Disadvantages: No autofocus
...Introduction
##########
This remote was included free with my Nikon SLR camera. The retail price of this is around £54.99.
The Unit
#######
You know your getting a quality product when you hear "Nikon" - they have been in the business for years, and are one of the most trusted companies when it comes to photography.
As the name suggests it's only suitable for Nikon cameras. I have the Nikon D80 and it works perfectly with it. One side of the cable inserts to the side of the camera and the other end has the remote on it. The remote is of a nice side and it fits in your hand comfortably. As you would expect it has a button which when pressed releases the shutter. The good thing about this is that it has a shutter release lock, so those of you who like long exposures - used in night time photography would understand this is a good...

Affordable Pro Digital SLR
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S1 PRO by
Alexmouse
Advantages: Does everything
Disadvantages: No lens or memory card
...Definitely a camera for those with a bit more cash and looking for an SLR Nikon bodied camera.
You buy the camera with no lens but then Fuji assume you have Nikon Lenses to fit. It also comes with no memory card and you will probably need something large like an IBM Micro Drive It is a 6 Mega Pixel output which means huge prints and has every manual control of any good SLR.
Unlike the Nikon D1 it comes with all the cables and some seriously useful camera control software. All in all an affordable solution to those wishing to switch to digital from their existing SLR.
There are many different 'kits' available. Keep your eye on content and price and shop for the best buy....

Nikon FE still going strong
Review of Nikon FE 10 by
jonm2001
Advantages: Robust design, excellent results
Disadvantages: Heavy
...Despite being a bit long in the tooth, my Nikon FE continues to reliably produce excellent results.
An excellent example of a high-quality 35mm SLR, my model has lasted so long that I am probably the third owner. After all these years, the only sign of wear and tear is a small mark on the outside cover of the lens, which I managed to put there after tripping over and throwing the camera down on a rock!
My Nikkor 43-86mm zoom lens produces excellent results on a wide range of subjects. Although perhaps not big enough for most wildlife photography, it can cope with anything from landscapes to portraits, and all but prevents the added expense and hassle of swapping lenses.
I would heartily recommend this camera to anybody considering a second-hand purchase....

Nikon Coolpix - thumbs up
Review of Nikon Coolpix P5100 by
cha1ching
Advantages: Easily handleable and extensive pre-programmed settings.
Disadvantages: Slightly slow at taking the pictures at times.
...I have been using this camera for a few months now instead of taking out my SLR Nikon D70 to places i don' want to lug a large camera around.
It is small, pocketable, sturdy and easy to handle. The pre-programmed settings in "scene" are excellent with a good range to choose from. I think there is a need for short cuts though as there are quite a few to scroll through.
It was essential to me to have a screen and a view finder as screens are so tricky to use in sunlight.
It has taken a while to get the hang of night time shots but with a bit of practice I have now sussed out some lovely features.
Overall I think it is excellent value for money and a great little camera....

Nikon D80
Review of Nikon D80 by
cheekytinker
Advantages: easy to use, self-explanatory, excellent picture quality and clear bright vivid photos
Disadvantages: difficulty recognising lens occasionally, cache could be bigger for saving RAW files
...I have owned this camera for over 8 months now and it just gets better and better. It is incredibly easy and simple to use. Due to the large LCD your are able to check your image and zoom right in immediately to see the quality of the image and even edit the image whilst still in the camera.
The buttons are well spaced and easy to change with one hand whilst holding the camera, it is light but does get considerably heavier when used with a battery grip and flash but is still manageable. I found it very quick to download images but the cache could be bigger when saving RAW files as this freezes the camera until they have transferred and you are ready to shoot again which isn't ideal.
In comparison to the Canon 400d an the 30d I found the Nikon superior. The colours are bright and the images sharp....

Beautiful CAmera...but wait!
Review of Nikon D50 by
nimlad
Advantages: Excellent Entry Level DSLR, at a cheap price and aesthetically pleasing
Disadvantages: Lens isn't up to scratch with the new Sony's, and no form of image stabilisation
...The Nikon D50 is a beautifully looking piece of kit (especially in sliver, which I paid an extra £5 for) which feels perfectly weight in the hand (As do most SLR's). If you are a past user of Nikon camera's you will be at home with the size and shape of the D50.
In comparison to the entry level Canon and the Konica Minolta 5D (who have now been bought out by Sony) if performs favourably in the area's of colour clarity and ease of use of the menu. BUT it does not have any form of image stabilisation, which is where the Minolta rules! Say good bye to shaky pictures, with blurry lines.
Saying that, the crispness possible with the Nikon is amazing to see, with clearly defined lines and colours it shows up beautifully over short and long distance. The provided lens is wide enough, and a telephoto lens will add much variety to the camera...

Nikon D50 - good first DSLR
Review of Nikon D50 by
SvenP
Advantages: Great pictures, SD card storage, ease of use
Disadvantages: Desire to try a more expensive option when you've seen how good the basic model is
...This camera is a great first step into the DSLR market. The in its silver guise it looks at a glance like a slightly large compact camera, which in turn means it attracts less attention than the standard black model that is hard to distinguish from its far more expensive Nikon stablemates.
The camera controls all fall easily to hand when holding the camera, and far from being complex I have found the layout to be logical and comfortable. It is similar in many ways to the rival Canon EOS350, and has a similar set of functions. Fantastic results can be achieved simply by setting everything to auto and using it as a point and shoot compact, although one that can take sequences of shots until the memory card is full.
Advantages - lightwieght, comfortable to hold and use, short start-up time and virtually no shutter lag, great results...
