Nikon D40x
Advantages: Quality Pictures, Easy to use, Compact
Disadvantages: Price but still worth it for a decent camera
...** Nikon D40x Digital SLR **
This is my first digital SLR camera I really like taking pictures of mainly our families dogs and cars my main hobbies, my other half had previously had been using a digital SLR that belonged to his dad, so we both went a long to Jessops that is well know for selling really good photography stuff.
We had a look at various models of camera including the Canon Eos 400d which is one of this cameras biggest rival models, also looked at four or five other digital SLR models. Then eventually we started looking at the Nikon D40x my other half knew someone who had the previous model to this the Nikon D40 which had been really good, the other half had used it previously and found it a really good quality camera. So after a lot of really useful and helpful advice from the shop assistant in Jessops we chose...

Nikon D40x DSLR
Advantages: Compact for an SLR, easy to use, excellent picture quality.
Disadvantages: Battery life only allows 1000ish photos to be taken
...My review is about the Nikon D40x Digital Single Lense Reflex camera.
For the last 3 years i've been taking photographs using my dad Konika Minolta Dynax 5D, but as of a few months ago i've moved
in with my other half and no longer have access to my dads camera, so before christmas it was decided that we needed our own digital SLR.
I'd got a couple of models in mind, the Canon EOS 500d and the Nikon D40, they both did what I wanted of them and were around the right price.
Having researched them on the internet and finding somewhere to go look at them off we went to Jessops in town to have a look at them.
I asked the assistant if I could look at and have a play with both and thats when I spotted the Nikon D40x, it hadn't come up in my searches on the internet and turned out that it was a better version of the D40 and had...

Nikon D40X
Advantages: Light, over 10mp, takes SD cards
Disadvantages: Limited lens choice.
...My return to SLR photography after two "compact" digital cameras. THe D40x is amazingly light compared with my previous 35mm SLRs. The basic auto prgrammes are pretty well foolproof, you really have to be doing something stupid not to get decent results with this camera.
What made me go for it .... 10.8 mp , takes SD cards, cheaper than the D80.
If you go for the manual settings then you have to know what you are doing. The instruction manual is precise and fairly comprehensive. It does take a bit of reading and experimentation with the various settings. I have read quite a few reviews in the photography press and in general the D40x has been well received.
I bought the Nikon "kit" which comprised the body, an 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens all for less than £500 which I reckon was a good deal. There are still plently...

Nikon D40x
Advantages: Small, feature packed, easy to use, Built in Help system, auto and scene modes
Disadvantages: only three AF points, manual not so good
...we can see the result straight away.
I should say that I am not a professional photographer, more an amateur who wanted to get his hands on a Digital SLR and see what he could do. So this review will be from an average joe.
I was originally going to purchase a Pentax K100d as it was the cheapest DSLR around and with anti shake, even though the Canon 400d and Nikon D40x did seem to be the market leaders. I then found that the K100d had been superceded by the K100d Super and the price had gone up closer to the canon and Nikon.
I spotted an offer at Currys of a Nikon D40x with 18-55mm lense for £405 plus a 55-300mm nikon lense for an extra £30 and on top of that buy now (with no deposit) pay next september. I couldn't resist. I am glad the offer came around because in the end I think I would have had to upgrade the 6MP Pentax...

NIKON D40X- An amazing piece of technology!
Advantages: Incredible quality, infininate features, decent price
Disadvantages: not as easy to transport as a compact.
...The Nikon D40x is a must have for all budding photographers! My favourite hobby is photography and I am also a digital media student, and therefore the photography equipment I buy is very important to me.
I have owned this product now for ten months and I never leave home without it! Nikky, as she is know to me (sad I know!), goes everywhere with me, shooting many different scenes.
The Nikon D40x is a digital SLR camera, therefore using the old fashioned use of lenses, but produces incredible results compared to normal digital cameras...i.e compact digital cameras.
The Nikon D40x comes with a rechargeable battery, which simply slots into the supplied charger and charges by the main. They also come with a neck strap, to avoid the fear of dropping.
The main disadvantage that some people may find with this product is the size...

D40x
Advantages: Excellent image quality and build
Disadvantages: Average value for money, limited choice of lenses
..., where the camera decides everything including whether or not to use flash. After this are several creative modes, which largely change how the image is processed. Then come the manual modes, which offer enthusiasts more control.
The D40x is an excellent option for first time DSLR buyers who want a camera that will grow as they grow as photographers. I would highly reccomend it, but if you cannot afford it would also reccomend the D40, a similar camera....

Nikon D40 is the DSLR you'll ever need
Advantages: Excellent image quality, good core functionality of an DSLR, cheap, portable and lightweight.
Disadvantages: Megapixels may not be sufficient for some, no autobracketing and no autofocus with non-AFS lenses
...Although introduced many years ago, Nikon D40 is still my favorite DSLR due to its compact size and affordable price tag. It is the best entry level DSLR in the market, at a price much cheaper than the more expensive compacts and semi-pro.
Nikon D40 is a fast 6MP camera with a large 3-inch LCD, 2.5fps continuous shooting, 1/500s flash sync and a bright viewfinder. What it lacks are a status display and a built-in auto-focus motor.
Megapixel count does not matter. It only matters if you like to crop your pictures or print huge sizes. In fact, the higher the MP count the more noise is produced during capture. At 6MP, you can comfortably print at postcard size without visible loss of detail. In fact, in low light shooting, a 6MP SLR will crush 12MP compacts any time of the day.
High MP count does not equate image quality, but since...

The Nikon D40, simply the perfect SLR camera
Advantages: Quality, features, battery charging, the feel, realiable, fast, comfortable
Disadvantages: Non
...This is my first ever SLR digital camera and i love it! I would recommend to anyone who enjoys photography or not. Its a good hold, perfect picture quality and its perfect for the price. You can buy some SLR cameras which are expensive, but you could gain alot more from just buying a Nikon D40! Has a good clear colour LCD screen, powerful flash, easy to access memory and battery, comes supplied with everything you need to start you off. I've been told that Canon are good makes, but to be honest, the picture quality i think is so much better on this camera, plus this camera is only a 6 megapixels, so am guessing the Nikon D40x which is a 10 megapixel camera, is proberbly the best camera around at the moment! I would buy any Nikon camera again, no dout....

Nikon D40 - A great bargain for the beginning photographer!
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, nice clear LCD screen
Disadvantages: No motor for auto focus
...I purchased this camera at a very good price when I was looking to first start photgraphy. I went for the Digital SLR (single lens reflex) so I had more functions and properties that I was able to change myself.
For an entry level photographer, I would say it is perfect. With 6.1 megapixels it has a good range for what the beginner will need. The lens that came with it was a Nikon AFS 18-55mm. This has a good range to start with for average portraits or imagery. I have also managed to get some good micro shots with this lens.
The screen is a good size to check any images after taking and the camera also has some good built in features such as red eye reduction and several tonal changes for on the spot editing.
The main downside about this camera is at its cheap price, there is no motor for the lens built in the camera. This means only...
