Nikon Action VII 8x40 cf - Highly Recommend

Advantages: Optical quality and build excellent
Disadvantages: Being very fussy no neck strap on case

...I bought these binoculars as I was looking for a new pair of good quality bin,s for birdwatching on a budget.Having searched a long time for a pair of roof prism's at around £100 + for a half decent pair, I was amazed by the quality and of the optics and the price of these porro prism bins. The sharpness, brightness & colour rendition is superb, a real testament to the optical quality. I can't imagine how I managed to live with my previous bin's for so long. The feel of these bin's is solid and well built, being very comfortable in the hand, if a little on the heavy side. They come with a comfortable neck strap and a soft case, although the case annoyingly doesn't have a neck strap. The body is fully rubber armorred & although not stated as being waterproof, I have found them to be very durable when out in the field. The focusing...

Nikon D90 - My Next 'Last' Camera

Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range
Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for

...There?s been a legion of digital cameras that have passed through my hands since they started to become a serious contender for 35mm?s domination of the amateur market. Going from memory, they?ve included Philips, Casio, Canon, Nikon and errr?..Nikon. Of course the last one, my first DSLR, a Nikon D70 was going to be the last; but then we all say that don?t we, lads? What I really meant was ?the last for quite a while?. LOOKS LIKE THE ?QUITE A WHILE? HAS EXPIRED Then my daughter started making noises about a night-school class in photography, where the minimum kit requirement just so happened to be a DSLR, and I got to thinking about letting her have the D70 for a ?song?, whilst good ol? Dad treats himself to the later and much higher-specified D90. Since I bought the D70 four or five years back, things have moved on apace...

Review of Nikon D90

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode

... How I made my choice I recently bought the D90 to upgrade from my Olympus 560UZ bridge camera, so this is my first foray into DSLR photography. Most people starting in DSLR photography will opt for the cheaper D40, or the D60, D70 and D80. I am not particularly rich, and in the end chose the D90 because I didn't want to grow out of the smaller DSLR and have to buy a new body quickly. I have found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel...

Waterproof, but perhaps too waterproof!

Advantages: waterproof, easy to apply, no clumps, long lasting, nice effect, good quality, gentle on my eyes
Disadvantages: hard to remove, the non-waterproof version allows you to achieve more dramatic effects, expensive

...Like most women, I am on what appears to be a life-long quest to find the perfect mascara! When a friend recommended the Boots No.7 extreme length mascara I brought one. I really liked it and infact liked it so much that it eventually ran out (and that?s good for me as normally I get bored before it runs out!). A couple of days before my Nan?s funeral I realised that I did not own a waterproof mascara. Knowing that I would need one, I headed off to Boots to find something appropriate. I noticed that No.7 had just launched the waterproof version of their Extreme Length Mascara. It was quite pricey at £12 but I didn?t mind paying it as I had been a fan of the non-waterproof version. I decided to test the mascara as soon as I got home as I have very sensitive eyes and usually find that I react badly to waterproof mascaras which is why I...

Review of Boots No.7 Extreme Length Waterproof Mascara

Excellent waterproof mascara

Advantages: definitely waterproof, natural looking, non clumpy
Disadvantages: dramatic look not achieved, lancome products expensive

...I am a big fan of Lancome products on the whole and it is true to say you get what you pay for. LOOK: This mascara is excellent, two coats will get you beautifully seperated lashes that look natural and not over the top. If you are aftera more dramatic evening look, its probably not the best choice. Good day time choice! WATERPROOF: I tend to do A LOT of swimming. Completely stood the test and didnt smudge. I also went to the most beautiful wedding, cried alot and still didnt budge. Brilliant! the problem is trying to remove it....after a several hard rubs it finally comes off so probably not the best for sensitive eyes! CONCLUSION Would recommend this for a holiday/wedding etc, stays put, give you natural looking lashes, nothing overly dramatic however, you would probably need another brand for this....

Review of Lancome Flextencils Mascara Waterproof 01 Black

A super cool review of the Nikon Coolpix

Advantages: Looks good, durable and a good range of user interactive settings.
Disadvantages: Not the most vivid of colour capture and a few other problems (see review).

..., you need to give Nikon the benefit of the doubt because they have been producing great cameras since before time itself it would seem. In this day and age when you can buy mobile phones with 8 megapixel cameras built in it is hardly surprising that we are seeing tiny cameras like this S560 from Nikon with 10 megapixel resolution and 5 times optical zooms but we must not be fooled by all this. Buying a camera should never be based on megapixels alone, take this ten megapixel point and shoot and put it up against a six megapixel DSLR and the DSLR will win hands down every time, this is simply down to the quality of the glass (lens). All that said, Nikon have upped the qualityof the lens since the earlier Coolpix models as well as giving it a larger screen on the rear and including a decent image stabilisation, which has gone on to make...

Rimmel Volume Flash Waterproof Mascara

Advantages: Cheap, comes out black
Disadvantages: Smudges, impossible to get off, needs a few coats

...I've been using Boots No7 waterproof volume mascara for ages, but last week I thought I would try something new. I've been pleased with Rimmel make-up before but had never tried one of the mascaras. It was only £4.90 from Superdrug, which was a lot cheaper than the £9 I'd been paying for No7. I always go for volume mascaras to open up my eyes in the morning when I'm still half asleep! And always waterproof ones which is why I went for this particular one. Packaging It comes in a blue bottle, with a modern shape, with Rimmel Volume flash written across it in silver lettering. The bottle is quite a good size and overall it looks good. The Mascara The mascara has a thin brush applicator but with really short bristles, almost like one that has already been used loads. I'm not sure if this is a design feature that is...

Nikon D80 DSLR + 18-135mm Nikkor lens

Advantages: perfect grip, large prismatic viewfinder
Disadvantages: doesn't have internal memory

... Nikon D80 My first real DSLR camera, which I have become addict to even if it requires me to learn a lot and keep challenging myself into operating it better and better ammoed with knowledge. It had been my dream to own a SLR camera, I've always had a passion for the big cameras and I was jealous of the pro photographers and the pictures they got. When I was little, my parents had an old Czech-made camera including all the stuff you need to develop the pictures yourself at home and so we were always full of photographs of me and my brother, that's where I started to love the stuff. Unfortunately the old equipment doesn't work anymore and my first camera was a simple automatic one and even if I liked to take pictures, I soon found out how expensive it was to have them developed and to buy new and new films. Now, in the age...

Light as the Air, Nikon D60

Advantages: Very small and light, wide range of Nikon lenses
Disadvantages: Slow Autofocus

... Nikon D60 The Camera Itself Here it is, the slightly higher than entry level digital SLR from Nikon. On paper it seems very similar to many other similar priced cameras. So in this review, I dig a little deeper to see if there is enough difference to put you out of pocket. First thing you will notice is the size of the body. It is impressively small, very good for travel photography and in general circumstances. The bodies? grip will fit the contours of your hand well even if you have large hands, like myself. The 10.2 megapixel sensor is expected, but possibly may have benefited from upping to 12 megapixels or more. As beginner to enthusiast photographers develop they will be left wanting more pixels to suffice their needs. The manufacturers? website states it also includes, ?Active D-Lighting.? This is said to...

Nikon D40x

Advantages: Quality Pictures, Easy to use, Compact
Disadvantages: Price but still worth it for a decent camera

...** Nikon D40x Digital SLR ** This is my first digital SLR camera I really like taking pictures of mainly our families dogs and cars my main hobbies, my other half had previously had been using a digital SLR that belonged to his dad, so we both went a long to Jessops that is well know for selling really good photography stuff. We had a look at various models of camera including the Canon Eos 400d which is one of this cameras biggest rival models, also looked at four or five other digital SLR models. Then eventually we started looking at the Nikon D40x my other half knew someone who had the previous model to this the Nikon D40 which had been really good, the other half had used it previously and found it a really good quality camera. So after a lot of really useful and helpful advice from the shop assistant in Jessops we chose...
