Review of Nikon Coolpix 2100 by
barney_mcrury
Advantages: good quality, reasonably priced, easy to use
Disadvantages: no case
...This was the first rewiew i wrote on Ciao, and looking back at it, its not very good, so instead of updating it i have decided to re-write it completly, i will start off by giving you all of the technical details and then give you the real opinion, lets get started.
o0o0o0o The Price o0o0o0o
I purchased mine from PC world a couple of months ago now, and it had just been knocked down from £250 to £180, which is a real bargain!
o0o0o0o What you get o0o0o0o
Included in the box are a strap, the USB cable, a Compact Flash (tm) card, a video cable, two re-chargable Ni-MH Batteries, a battery charger, The start-up CD-Rom, instruction manual the warranty etc. and most importantly, the camera. Review of Nikon ML L3 Infrared Remote control for Camera by
Aubergine
Advantages: Small and light, perfect for carrying around. Very easy to use.
Disadvantages: Battery compartment is a little fiddly.
...those you don't get to see very often.
Who's the ML-L3 Nikon remote for?
The ML-L3 Nikon remote control is very easy to use and is ideal for any level of photographer.
Made by Nikon, it works with the Nikon D50, D70 and D70s digital SLR cameras (and some websites say it works on the Nikon F65, Coolpix 8400 and Coolpix 8800, too). Each of these cameras has an in-built receiver for the remote control so no other equipment is needed. I've been using mine with a Nikon D50 and it works a treat.
How much does it cost?
I chose to buy from Amazon where it was £11.99.
Vital statistics:
Designed with a lightweight black plastic casing, the remote measures: 2.4 x 1.1 x 0.25 inches (6 x 2.7 x 0.5cm). It arrives in a small box with no instructions so I was glad I kept my camera manual.
Mine came with its...

Nikon D40x
Review of Nikon D40x by
Hsaxo
Advantages: Quality Pictures, Easy to use, Compact
Disadvantages: Price but still worth it for a decent camera
...and you can see all the detail of what ever you are photographing.
The Nikon D40x takes brilliant pictures even when the light is not great as long as you use the cameras settings and features correctly to help improve the picture quality. The buttons and dials on the camera are easy to understand and use it is also a very light weight camera being both smaller and lighter than the Nikon D50, it has a safety strap to put around your neck to save your dropping it and damaging it when trying to get pictures. The camera itself it easy to hold with bits at the side to grip perfectly in your hand. The zoom is really easy to use and means you can picture things further away without disturbing them such as wildlife, this can also be made easier by purchasing a bigger lens add on.
Lenses are widely available for this camera as are tripods...

Nikon D80 DSLR + 18-135mm Nikkor lens
Review of Nikon D80 by
jeaniecz
Advantages: perfect grip, large prismatic viewfinder
Disadvantages: doesn't have internal memory
... Nikon D80
My first real DSLR camera, which I have become addict to even if it requires me to learn a lot and keep challenging myself into operating it better and better ammoed with knowledge.
It had been my dream to own a SLR camera, I've always had a passion for the big cameras and I was jealous of the pro photographers and the pictures they got.
When I was little, my parents had an old Czech-made camera including all the stuff you need to develop the pictures yourself at home and so we were always full of photographs of me and my brother, that's where I started to love the stuff. Unfortunately the old equipment doesn't work anymore and my first camera was a simple automatic one and even if I liked to take pictures, I soon found out how expensive it was to have them developed and to buy new and new films. Now, in the age...

Nikon D70, new owner of entry level DSLR crown
Review of Nikon D70 by
g8ina
Advantages: Its a full digital SLR with interchangeable lenses
Disadvantages: Slight noise at 400ISO, poor strap design, nowt else !
...AH, this makes it all the more clever. I looked at a mains power supply, but at nearly £80 for a 9VDC 500mA supply, I was not tempted. Nikon have also stopped us using cheap and cheerful car boot sale power plugs by using an unknown power connector on the camera. Clever idea Nikon, but not appreciated !!
Infra Red remote - Great idea, much easier than the cable release system on the Coolpix models and also on the Nikons main opponent, the Canon 300D. Essential for long exposure shots for my astronomy to avoid body vibration.
Carry Strap - sadly not the most brilliant design. The strap attaches to the body by looping thru two small slots on the side. This means that the strap is under a bending stress when carrying the camera, and this leads me to believe that the strap will suffer from wear before too long. I have got around this by using...

TINY NIKON LIVES UP TO EXPECTATIONS.
Review of Nikon Coolpix 3100 by
SNOOPDOGGY
Advantages: Great picture quality. Colour performance. Top-nocht CCD.
Disadvantages: Tiny. Flash performance.
...GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Nikon Coolpix 3100 is one of the smallest digital cameras on the market.
The Coolpix 3100 is designed to fit nicely into shirt or jacket pockets There is a 3x optical zoom lens built into the Coolpix and a 3.2-megapixel CCD for capturing high quality images, and a great amount of preset shooting modes.
The camera works mainly under automatic control and both control layout and menu display are very easy to use.
The Coolpix 3100 comes with a real-image optical viewfinder (recommended) and a 1.5-inch color LCD screen. Though the LCD monitor provides more accurate framing, its battery consumption is excessive. The camera is fitted with a 5.8-17.4mm zoom lens equivalent to a 38-114mm lens on a 35mm camera. Again in a digital camera we find ourselves with a moderate wideangle and an also moderate tele. I...

Good Easy to use camera
Review of Nikon Nuvis A20 Compact Camera by
RebelMC
Advantages: Easy to use, Good Pictures everytime, compact
Disadvantages: Can get more features for same money elsewhere
...I bought this camera over two years ago when APS when still a new thing, I wanted something which would be easier to use since my photo's usually came back unrecognisable. But with the Nikon Nuvis A20 they are clear every time - really, I haven't had one photo blurred or missing in the whole two years.
As with all APS cameras it is simple to load and has the three picture format, which is easily selectable by a switch on top of the camera. The camera also has a roll rewind facilitiy which means you can rewind the roll half way through using it to get it developed straight away, although I don't see much point in this.
The camera is small and light and comes in a nice case with belt strap on the back. It is auto focus, with auto flash (which you can turn off) and red eye reduction. It has a sliding cover which is also the on...

Solamarie's camera fun
Review of Nikon COOLPIX L1/L101 by
solamarie
Advantages: Beautiful pictures, simple to use, so many different features
Disadvantages: I have just one little niggle.
...I have enjoyed digital photography for five years now and have taken some thousands of photos. My last camera, which I reviewed, seems to have something wrong with it! I am not sure why but some of the pictures display a broken file error on the pc instead of the photo and this can be very frustrating because I can see the thumbnail which means I can see what I can't retrieve from the camera.
Anyway, enough of that, I decided that it was time to go and buy a new camera.
So, after work one afternoon I popped into my local Currys store and went and looked at the cameras on show behind a security glass case.
This was where I had some fun, reading all the blurb on several different cameras. I have had two Olympus cameras and was thinking of purchasing another, but comparing them to the Nikon I decided to change makes and hope...

Nikon D80 - Superb Prosumer DSLR
Review of Nikon D80 by
apestyler
Advantages: Image quality and build quality
Disadvantages: Lots of noise at high ISO
...Background
The Nikon D80 is Nikon's attempt to get back into the Prosumer market after the D70 & D70s were getting a bit long in the tooth. What they have cleverly done is take all the decent features from their D200 (which has recently been replaced by the D300) and mix it together with elements of the D50 to create an affordable camera for hobbyists who wish to take photography to the next level.
What's in the box
The list below is from a 'Body Only' package as I was upgrading from a D50 to D80 and already have lenses which come on offer with the D80 kits.
- D80 Body
- EN-EL3e Battery
- Mains Charger for the above battery type
- Head Strap
- USB Cable
- Nikon PictureProject 1.7 CD-ROM
- Nikon CaptureFX Trial CD-ROM
- Various reading materials such as Manual, Warranty and Registration cards
Overview
As mentioned...
