Ultimate Guide to the Nikon Coolpix 990 by Deiz
Review of Nikon Coolpix 990 by
Deiz
Advantages: All round brilliance
Disadvantages: Price
...In an increasingly crowded market, the coolpix 990 really does stand above most of the field. Nikon have long had a reputation for solid, value for money gear and their transition into the digital market has been especailly smooth.
As far as features go, the Coolpix 990 has it all. As a computer buff, the external USB port compatibility is fantastic, meaning that camera and computer can bond like never before. The zoom is excellent (3x), the resolution is superb and all the little touches (battery life, state of the art LCD, autofocus etc) are in place.
Of course, digital cameras are expected to do more than just take stills these days, and the Coolpix 990 doesnt disappoint. Most impressive in my opinion is the jpeg movie feature, which allows a whopping 40 seconds of vid at about 15 frames per second. Obviously faster frame rates...

NIKON COOLPIX 4300 DIGITAL CAMERA
Review of Nikon Coolpix 4300 by
andrew06
Advantages: Great picture quality, easy uploads, point and shoot, fast battery charging, nice design
Disadvantages: Low battery life when flash used
...The Nikon 4300 is my first digital camera and I was worried that digital photos would just not hold up quality wise to a 35mm photo, I must say I was immediately amazed at, and impressed with, the picture quality of the Nikon. It is very difficult to take a bad picture with this camera (although it happens on occasion) I also enjoy the super easy upload to my computer. Quick and easy step by step programme. I haven't even read the manual it is so easy to operate I bought this camera for my online retail business I have been using it indoors and most often with the flash but you can turn the flash off . The battery dies out very quickly when the flash is used. Fortunately the battery charges quickly, in about one hour. I like the design of the camera, it is chunky but fits the hand well, and looks as cool as the name indicates. But I am...

Nikon Coolpix 950
Review of Nikon Coolpix 950 by
binnyw
Advantages: goosd deal
Disadvantages: none
...Computer-savvy photographers who have used digital cameras and consumers looking for a high-quality choice from a top-name camera manufacturer are the target markets for the Nikon Coolpix 950. With its Nikkor lens, rugged design, and 3X optical zoom, the Coolpix is a fine choice for most applications, though its price will put it out of the reach of many families and small businesses. In jury testing, the camera was not a class leader, but it placed in the upper half of the tested cameras for both Web and printed photo images.
The Coolpix's lens swivels for self-portraits or to provide a range of viewing angles while composing and shooting. In addition to aperture-priority and shutter-priority exposure modes, one of the most valuable features is a Best Shot Selection mode, which automatically analyzes a series of shots and saves...

The Nikon Coolpix 2500 screams party
Review of Nikon Coolpix 2500 by
matman2uk
Advantages: Great design
Disadvantages: Alot of money
...The Nikon Coolpix 2500 practically screams "party!" color and unusual shape are certain to attract attention, but under the metal skin is a capable camera with surprising flexibility.
Like many other Coolpix models, the 2500 has a swiveling lens mechanism. But the 2500 is unique in that its swivel lens hides neatly inside the camera's frame when not in use. This therfore means that it is ceverly protected from bumps, dust and the horror of dirty fingerprints. This clever design twist let Nikon's engineers pack a 3X (35-mm lens equivalent is 37- to lll-mm) zoom lens into the 2500's thin body. The extra space also makes room for an extended focusing mechanism that lets you focus on objects as close as 1.6 inches from the camera.
The 2500 is powered by a small lithium ion battery that gets juice through a tiny wall charger. Battery life...

Nikon Coolpix 775
Review of Nikon Coolpix 775 by
chrisf
Advantages: Light, portable, great quality pics
Disadvantages: Small capacity Compact Flash Card 8Mb included
...Adding to the previous well decribed review, I can say this is the best small digital camera that money can buy.
I have owned an AGFA 1080 and a KODAK DC250, which have now been passed on to my children. The Nikon is so light in weight, even though it looks plastic, it definitely is not. The battery lasts a long time, unlike other 2 Mega pixel cameras. The supplied compact flash card is tiny (8Mb), but replacement cards from Sandisk, FUJI and others are now relatively cheap. I would recommend a 128Mb card to get 132 pics at high resolution. Also there is the added advantage of silent movie capture as well.
The macro feature is excellent - I use it for taking close up pictures of x-rays for lectures, and the automatic focusing even works at this level. The resulting pictures are brilliant.
Short of going for a professional...

Nikon Coolpix L5, Cool or uncool?
Review of Nikon Coolpix L5 by
matt_jones_1988
Advantages: 5X optical zoom and In-Camera red eye fix
Disadvantages: AA batteries, Poor sensitivity ISO 400
...The Nikon L5 is a relatively new camera and at £132.76 looks like a great bargain, in some aspects it is great, but in other performace tests it has let me down.
The overall design of the L5 is great, not to big or too small, so they have got the balance just right, but unfortunately it uses 2xAA batteries and with a 2.5" screen on the back lasts for only about 50-100 shots, noty really what you want when your on holiday and wanting to snap away, putting the battery type aside and looking whats inside the camera, the quality of the components use are pretty much standard to nikon, as usual the Nikor lense.
The camera boasts serveral great features which truly are fantastic. 5X optical zoom, this zoom is excellent for such a small compact digital camera, but the shutter speed is incredbibly slow and the Nikon really does lack...

Nikon Coolpix 5600
Review of Nikon Coolpix 5600 by
a.manuel
Advantages: Stylish and compact , good image quality
Disadvantages: Flash recycle time
...This digital camera is definitely good value for money, compact (85x60x35mm, 130g (without its two AA batteries), stylish design, cutting edge technology and quality images all-in-one. This your average simple camera for amateurs except it takes 5.1 Megapixles pictures of professional quality. Coolpix camera has D-Lighting technology, which intelligently lightens overly dark images and automatic red-eye reduction. The cam has 3x optical zoom equivalent to 35-105mm on a 35mm camera, a 1.8 inch LCD screen and 16 different scene modes for every situation. You also get Picture Project a photo editing software with the camera for further editing and perfecting your pics. It is also very easy to use with many modes which automatically set themselves. One of the things that make it so easy to use is the four way for flash, self timer and macro...

My first owned digital camera!
Review of Nikon Coolpix L3 by
Tristan85
Advantages: Great for Amateurs/Newbie in Digital Photography, Compact but Powerful
Disadvantages: Shutter lag and poor video at night
...This is my very own digital camera that was given to me (as a compensation/gift for my job). I was so eager that hands are a bit shaking. I feel the smoothness in it. The "Ergonomic Touch".
I have already handled many digital cameras. From HP Photosmart (the first ever digital camera here in our town, bulky to handle), to Canon A3 powershot, to Kodak (i forgot the model, one of the slimiest digital camera i saw!), and to my Nikon COOLpix L3 (the most compact but powerful digital camera!)!
Those cameras i have mentioned above are own by my uncles and aunts who they ask my help (i'm proud to be their computer/digital consultant!) on how to use theirs! One of the most outstanding feature of my camera is the power-saving (not a battery consuming monster!) and its compactness (it's so small you can put it in your pocket!).
Also the photos...

Best pic of the under rateds
Review of Nikon Coolpix 800 by
jodi
Advantages: Superb quality, good lcd, extra features
Disadvantages: none
...The nikon coolpix 800 must be one of the most underated cameras in the digital market at the moment, it is however without doubts one of the very best. After looking around in the digital camera market for quite some time and "test driving" more than a few models, I opted for the coolpix 800 without hesitation. I say underated due to the fact that Nikon have already produced the coolpix 900 and as with all things new the price is high so the sales assistants are pushing it. However the 800 is the one to go for. It is robust and sturdy looking, if a little square looking, the special effects on it are innumerable. It's most definately fun to play with. The LCD display on the back is clear and used by me everytime I take a snap. The buttons are again sturdy but easy to move and a big plus is the fact that they are well spaced. I...

Nikon Coolpix S200
Review of Nikon Coolpix S200 by
salar15
Advantages: Functions well in daylight; looks good and is fairly compact
Disadvantages: Picture quality is middle-of-the-road; is awful in low light
...The Nikon Coolpix is a good-looking camera; that is not to be doubted. I was initially very pleased with it, but have since been a little underwhelmed. Although I think Nikon are a very good company who on the whole turn out some excellent products, I am unconvinced that the S200 is one of their best pieces of work.
My main gripes are twofold. Firstly, I do not think that the picture quality is anything better than average, and there are certainly better options out on the market elsewhere - I believe Olympus cameras to be very strong in this regard. Secondly, despite the emphasis on its high ISO settings in the marketing for the product, I have been unimpressed by the camera's ability to take photographs in anything much less than broad daylight. The only way that a photo with remotely decent resolution can be taken...
