A super cool review of the Nikon Coolpix

Advantages: Looks good, durable and a good range of user interactive settings.
Disadvantages: Not the most vivid of colour capture and a few other problems (see review).

...As a professional photographer who is used to using top of the range DSLR cameras, I often worry that I will be a little harsh on simple point and shoot cameras when asked to give my opinion on them. Last week when I was asked to test the Nikon Coolpix S560 and give my opinion on it for my camera club, I was determined to do so with an open mind because as well as thinking I can be harsh on point and shoots, I am also not Nikon`s biggest fan. The Nikon Coolpix S560 is the latest in a range of Nikon point and shoot digital cameras and a direct step up from the Coolpix S550. In my opinion this was released a bit quickly after the S550 and it makes me wonder if Nikon were ever truly happy with the 550 that they felt the need to release its successor within just a few months of it being released itself. Nikon Coolpix L10

Advantages: Easy to use, most pictures come out good, value for money, look, durability, size and weight.
Disadvantages: Some pictures come out blurred.

RANGE & QUALITY OF FEATURES You can change the colour, the white balance, if there should be a continous shot, you can also change the flash. I find the amount of features great. EASE OF USE I find this camera very easy to set up, very easy to take a photo with and it's easy all round. DURABILITY The camera doesn't get scratched easily, it can get a tiny bit smugy but that's it. No major damage for mine! You can now pick one up for a lot cheaper, around £65, but I think they're being slowly phased out, so if you want one, get it quick. When I first bought it, 5.1 Megapixels was considered relatively high, whereas now, anything towards 9.1 or 10.1 megapixels is becoming the new bench level. NIKON Coolpix S510

Advantages: Small and has a great flash range

Advantages: Top of the range for quality and usage

Coolpix s1 - Lovely little compact camera

...I've had this camera or around three years and use it when I don't have or need my dslr. As a compact digital camera it's getting on in years now and has been surpassed by newer models, that said it's still a worthwhile purchase. Positives: At 5.1 megapixels it's more than enough for the purposes of most compact camera users (despite what most camera manufacturers would try to make you believe - more megapixels is not necessarily better). The camera is capable of filming at a reasonable quality (there is a switch on the back which you slide across to get the recording mode) and the camera can also record sound which is an advantage The LCD screen on the back of the camera is large (2.5") in comparison to the cameras overall size which is handy when it comes to taking the photo as there is no view finder. Review of Nikon D90

Good photos at a price - don't spend too much on the Coolpix 4300

Advantages: great lens = good image quality, now extremely cheap
Disadvantages: now quite old, poor design, out of date features, slow startup, battery flap weak point, bulky

...restarted the camera, more often than not I still cannot take the picture because there is a new warning "WARNING!! Mode dial is no in the proper position" - this occurs when the mode dial is very easily knocked slightly out off place in my bag. By the time I have finally managed reach the bird has literally flown the nest and the photo opportunity is gone. Having said all this, once the camera is on, the autofocus is very fast, even in low light levels. The digital processing is not that slow either, so you can take another picture soon after the first. Conclusion The Nikon Coolpix is not as compact as the modern competitors; it has fewer megapixels and a few design issues. I would not recommend having this as your main camera if you are really into photography, or if you just want something convenient on a night out, regardless...
