A super cool review of the Nikon Coolpix

Advantages: Looks good, durable and a good range of user interactive settings.
Disadvantages: Not the most vivid of colour capture and a few other problems (see review).

...As a professional photographer who is used to using top of the range DSLR cameras, I often worry that I will be a little harsh on simple point and shoot cameras when asked to give my opinion on them. Last week when I was asked to test the Nikon Coolpix S560 and give my opinion on it for my camera club, I was determined to do so with an open mind because as well as thinking I can be harsh on point and shoots, I am also not Nikon`s biggest fan. The Nikon Coolpix S560 is the latest in a range of Nikon point and shoot digital cameras and a direct step up from the Coolpix S550. In my opinion this was released a bit quickly after the S550 and it makes me wonder if Nikon were ever truly happy with the 550 that they felt the need to release its successor within just a few months of it being released itself. Nikon Coolpix 80

Advantages: Top of the range for quality and usage
Disadvantages: Cost if anything

We even managed a discount when we first purchased ours from Jessops in Derby due to my partner being a student photographer. The customer service at Nikon have been extremely helpful with advice on technical issues and user problems, they have even sent us a news lens cap when we lost ours during a weekend away. Advantages: Easy to use, most pictures come out good, value for money, look, durability, size and weight.
Disadvantages: Some pictures come out blurred.

NIKON Coolpix S510

Advantages: Small and has a great flash range
Disadvantages: Noise when I changed the ISO

...I was given the Nikon Coolpix S510 in pink from my boyfriend. He paid £ 163.19 from pixmania. As soon as I saw the camera I fell in love with it, I have a few cameras at home, and this one is probley my favourite because the other cameras are a bit of a struggle to take anywhere as there quiet chunky and heavy, with this camera there isn't a problem as its small. Takes Cool Picks

Advantages: Great camera
Disadvantages: None that I found,

...you go to your favourite/ most used scene. It also has a continuous shooting mode which shoots several photos in a row when you press the button once, allowing you to pick the best one and thus giving you a much higher success rate with pictures, this has allowed me to pretend to be a much better photographer than I am as it exponentially increases your chances of fluking a really good picture. The camera has a pretty good integrated flash. The Nikon P90 hasn?t fallen into the ?small as possible? electrical craze and is very ergonomically designed making it even more of a pleasure to use. It has an impressive battery life, I haven?t managed to run it down. My Verdict A great camera with a fairly reasonable price tag, I would recommend this to any fellow photography enthusiast as I have had a great experience with it....

...Nikon Coolpix S1. I bought this camera from Curries via their website for £169 back in 2006, so it is relatively old now, and in terms of the advance in cameras, is almost an antique! You can now pick one up for a lot cheaper, around £65, but I think they're being slowly phased out, so if you want one, get it quick. When I first bought it, 5.1 Megapixels was considered relatively high, whereas now, anything towards 9.1 or 10.1 megapixels is becoming the new bench level. However, unless you are a really keen photographer, you won't really notice too much difference. What attracted me to this camera was it's looks. Coolpix every time

Advantages: excellent snaps, strong flash, fantastic build quality
Disadvantages: expensive and a bit dull looks wise

...For Cool pictures every time you should go out and buy yourself the Nikon Coolpix P5000. It may be expensive at £239, but what you get for your chas is a digital camera packed with as many features as you could possibly dream up. It doesn't look like the nicest camera out there and it certainly isn't one you can slide into your top pocket but what do you expect from what I think is a semi-pro piece of digital hardware. Picture resolution is 10 million pixels and this captures every moment perfectly. I have never seen such detail, such sharpness from a digital camera before. To add to the picture taking experience the P5000 has an incorporated vibration reduction system within the lense which means taking snaps after a night on the ale won't leave you with blurry pictures! Nikon Coolpix - thumbs up

Advantages: Easily handleable and extensive pre-programmed settings.
Disadvantages: Slightly slow at taking the pictures at times.

...I have been using this camera for a few months now instead of taking out my SLR Nikon D70 to places i don' want to lug a large camera around. It is small, pocketable, sturdy and easy to handle. The pre-programmed settings in "scene" are excellent with a good range to choose from. I think there is a need for short cuts though as there are quite a few to scroll through. It was essential to me to have a screen and a view finder as screens are so tricky to use in sunlight. It has taken a while to get the hang of night time shots but with a bit of practice I have now sussed out some lovely features. Overall I think it is excellent value for money and a great little camera....
