brilliant Nikon D60

Advantages: fantastic quality images
Disadvantages: bigger than a compact digital camera

...I had been wanting to upgrade from my compact digital camera for a while as I was constantly disappointed with the quality of the images, (a fuji finepix in case you are interested). I was recommended this camera by a friend and although it seemed a bit more than I wanted to spend, the £60 cashback offer from Nikon swayed me. I have never looked back. This camera is amazing, even my snapping results in shots that look semi professional! Its incredibly easy to use and really responsive, with a 5 month old baby I am no longer missing those moments but am capturing every expression as I wish. I have only had this camera about a month and so far I love it. It's certainly bigger than a compact camera so less handy to carry in your bag, but the difference in the quality of images is well worth it. I can't recommend this camera highly...

Review of Nikon D60

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode

... How I made my choice I recently bought the D90 to upgrade from my Olympus 560UZ bridge camera, so this is my first foray into DSLR photography. Most people starting in DSLR photography will opt for the cheaper D40, or the D60, D70 and D80. I am not particularly rich, and in the end chose the D90 because I didn't want to grow out of the smaller DSLR and have to buy a new body quickly. I have found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel...

Great Entry Level D-SLR

Advantages: Small (for a D-SLR), practical, easy to use, nice touches
Disadvantages: slightly heavy, relatively low FPS for burst mode, doesn't operate as a usb drive on the computer

Easy to use, high quality digital SLR

...Having owned this camera for a few months now, I feel I have learnt enough about the camera to write a review on it. I would genuinely recommend this to anyone who wants a good quality SLR at an amazing price! QUALITY: With 10.2 megapixels, the image quality of the pictures produced from this is excellent. Fine detail can be captured with one simple click. The night shot is not as clear as daytime shots, and needs to be used with a tripod in order to stop camera shake and image blurring. The zoom with the 18-55mm lens is good, and is able to capture detail from far away. Nikon D40 - A great bargain for the beginning photographer!

Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, nice clear LCD screen
Disadvantages: No motor for auto focus

...certain auto focus lens with work on this camera, otherwise the lens must be adjusted manually. This was one problem I had when I first started as I was looking to get into live event and music photography where ideally an auto focus is needed. This then means the prices rocket up when needing to get a decent auto focus lens for either tele or micro. Apart from that, the camera has always been by my side and managed to get some outstanding quality pictures. Defiantely a bargain for the starting photographer. However if you are looking to be more open with your photography and wish to get further lenses then I would reccommend the D60, which at a slightly higher price, has a built in auto focus making things alot easier and cheaper in the long run....

A super cool review of the Nikon Coolpix

Advantages: Looks good, durable and a good range of user interactive settings.
Disadvantages: Not the most vivid of colour capture and a few other problems (see review).

Last week when I was asked to test the Nikon Coolpix S560 and give my opinion on it for my camera club, I was determined to do so with an open mind because as well as thinking I can be harsh on point and shoots, I am also not Nikon`s biggest fan. The Nikon Coolpix S560 is the latest in a range of Nikon point and shoot digital cameras and a direct step up from the Coolpix S550. In my opinion this was released a bit quickly after the S550 and it makes me wonder if Nikon were ever truly happy with the 550 that they felt the need to release its successor within just a few months of it being released itself.
