brilliant Nikon D60

Advantages: fantastic quality images
Disadvantages: bigger than a compact digital camera

...I had been wanting to upgrade from my compact digital camera for a while as I was constantly disappointed with the quality of the images, (a fuji finepix in case you are interested). I was recommended this camera by a friend and although it seemed a bit more than I wanted to spend, the £60 cashback offer from Nikon swayed me. I have never looked back. This camera is amazing, even my snapping results in shots that look semi professional! Its incredibly easy to use and really responsive, with a 5 month old baby I am no longer missing those moments but am capturing every expression as I wish. I have only had this camera about a month and so far I love it. It's certainly bigger than a compact camera so less handy to carry in your bag, but the difference in the quality of images is well worth it. I can't recommend this camera highly...

Great Entry Level D-SLR

Advantages: Small (for a D-SLR), practical, easy to use, nice touches
Disadvantages: slightly heavy, relatively low FPS for burst mode, doesn't operate as a usb drive on the computer

...This is my first ever SLR digital camera and i love it! I would recommend to anyone who enjoys photography or not. Its a good hold, perfect picture quality and its perfect for the price. You can buy some SLR cameras which are expensive, but you could gain alot more from just buying a Nikon D40! Has a good clear colour LCD screen, powerful flash, easy to access memory and battery, comes supplied with everything you need to start you off. I've been told that Canon are good makes, but to be honest, the picture quality i think is so much better on this camera, plus this camera is only a 6 megapixels, so am guessing the Nikon D40x which is a 10 megapixel camera, is proberbly the best camera around at the moment! I would buy any Nikon camera again, no dout....

Review of Nikon D90

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode

...charge and lasted for weeks! Even when I use the screen and flash a lot, it only used half the battery after taking around 800 pictures on 2 week holiday. Lenses I would definitely recommend the 18-105 kit lens you can get with the D90. It has the VR vibration reduction feature, a speedy auto-focus motor and good image quality and a long enough zoom for all your everyday shots (much better than the 18 -55 lens that comes with other D models like the D5000). I also have a 70 - 300mm zooms lens for basic wildlife shots, which I bought on ebay for around £80. The D90 has the advantage on an inbuilt auto-focus motor, not found in the smaller bodied D40, D60 and D5000. This means that all Nikon lens can be used, rather than just the newer AF lenses. Since then I have used several other digi cameras belonging to friends as they improved and developed, A friend of mine told me of the Nikon D40 so I checked it out at the local camera shop. I was impressed and bought one. Since then I have taken a great number of pictures with it, with the original lense and two others I have added.
