Nikon D90 - My Next 'Last' Camera

Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range
Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for

...There?s been a legion of digital cameras that have passed through my hands since they started to become a serious contender for 35mm?s domination of the amateur market. Going from memory, they?ve included Philips, Casio, Canon, Nikon and errr?..Nikon. Of course the last one, my first DSLR, a Nikon D70 was going to be the last; but then we all say that don?t we, lads? What I really meant was ?the last for quite a while?. LOOKS LIKE THE ?QUITE A WHILE? HAS EXPIRED Then my daughter started making noises about a night-school class in photography, where the minimum kit requirement just so happened to be a DSLR, and I got to thinking about letting her have the D70 for a ?song?, whilst good ol? Dad treats himself to the later and much higher-specified D90. Since I bought the D70 four or five years back, things have moved on apace...

Review of Nikon D90

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode

... How I made my choice I recently bought the D90 to upgrade from my Olympus 560UZ bridge camera, so this is my first foray into DSLR photography. Most people starting in DSLR photography will opt for the cheaper D40, or the D60, D70 and D80. I am not particularly rich, and in the end chose the D90 because I didn't want to grow out of the smaller DSLR and have to buy a new body quickly. I have found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel...

Review of Nikon D90

NIKON Coolpix S510

Advantages: Small and has a great flash range
Disadvantages: Noise when I changed the ISO

...I was given the Nikon Coolpix S510 in pink from my boyfriend. He paid £ 163.19 from pixmania. As soon as I saw the camera I fell in love with it, I have a few cameras at home, and this one is probley my favourite because the other cameras are a bit of a struggle to take anywhere as there quiet chunky and heavy, with this camera there isn't a problem as its small. I love the fact that the camera has a rotating navigation pad and a vertical lens cover. I think the camera is really good but I wouldn't give it an excellent rating as it could be improved, I was messing around with the and I changed it to ISO2000 and the picture was horrific however setting ISO to The ISO64 made the photos look great and you could see masses of detail which I was pretty impressed with. Advantages: Small, compact and very easy to use!

...Nikon Coolpix S1. I bought this camera from Curries via their website for £169 back in 2006, so it is relatively old now, and in terms of the advance in cameras, is almost an antique! You can now pick one up for a lot cheaper, around £65, but I think they're being slowly phased out, so if you want one, get it quick. When I first bought it, 5.1 Megapixels was considered relatively high, whereas now, anything towards 9.1 or 10.1 megapixels is becoming the new bench level. However, unless you are a really keen photographer, you won't really notice too much difference. What attracted me to this camera was it's looks. It is a lovely little camera, and in black it looks stylish and sleek, whilst also being very compact; there's no extruding lens or other parts sticking out, so the camera is very flat which is extremely helpful as it can...

Review of Nikon Coolpix S1

A super cool review of the Nikon Coolpix

Advantages: Looks good, durable and a good range of user interactive settings.
Disadvantages: Not the most vivid of colour capture and a few other problems (see review).

...As a professional photographer who is used to using top of the range DSLR cameras, I often worry that I will be a little harsh on simple point and shoot cameras when asked to give my opinion on them. Last week when I was asked to test the Nikon Coolpix S560 and give my opinion on it for my camera club, I was determined to do so with an open mind because as well as thinking I can be harsh on point and shoots, I am also not Nikon`s biggest fan. The Nikon Coolpix S560 is the latest in a range of Nikon point and shoot digital cameras and a direct step up from the Coolpix S550. In my opinion this was released a bit quickly after the S550 and it makes me wonder if Nikon were ever truly happy with the 550 that they felt the need to release its successor within just a few months of it being released itself. Review of Nikon Coolpix S560

Brilliant camera for the money well worth it very versatile

Advantages: large resolution, great photos, easy to use, great battery life, great fun!
Disadvantages: obviously its not a £2000 plus camera

...I bought this camera June 5th 2009, it cost me close to £900 but so far has been worth every penny!. im sure if you have got to the point of reading this review you are well aware of the specs if not thats the best place to start. while looking for a DSLR I looked at this and the 2 other price range competitors the Canon EOS 500D and the other Nikon D5000. this was a very hard choice I found that while playing around with all 3 in shops the D90 had the best video, and more vibrant pictures than the Canon. but that still left me with the two nikons the only thing that separated them in my books was the screens the larger screen on this D90 or the smaller lower resolution on the D5000. and as i like to take lots of photos and look at them i went for the D90. I have never looked back. I use the Camera for taking the normal photos holiday...

Nikon D40 SLR camera

...I have owned the D40 for about six months. I bought my first Digital camera about 10 years ago.,It was primitive and slow; I was not impressed. Since then I have used several other digi cameras belonging to friends as they improved and developed, A friend of mine told me of the Nikon D40 so I checked it out at the local camera shop. I was impressed and bought one. Since then I have taken a great number of pictures with it, with the original lense and two others I have added. I consider it to be a fine instrument, suitable for any photographic situation ,speed, portrate,whatever, and consider it to be well worth the purchase price All in all a camera for the photographer. Nikon D40 SLR Camera

Advantages: A superb camera

...Had done a lot of photography over the years, both 35mm and medium format, up to about 15 years ago when work commitments took over. About 4 years ago decided to start up again with a digital "point and shoot", then progressed to a 6mp Nikon "point and shoot". Finally decided it was time to move up to a DSLR, did a lot of research and went for the D40 - Why ? Firstly, the name: If it says Nikon on it, it is a quality camera - nuff said ! Why did I go for a camera with ONLY 6 mp ? Because there is more rubbish talked about the number of pixels in a camera than there is about anything else. You only need to go to 8/10/12 mp if you are making VERY large prints or have to do a lot of cropping, OR, if you just want to boast about the number of megapixels you have ! Having bought the camera, what do I think of it ? - it is superb...

The Nikon D40, simply the perfect SLR camera

Advantages: Quality, features, battery charging, the feel, realiable, fast, comfortable

...This is my first ever SLR digital camera and i love it! I would recommend to anyone who enjoys photography or not. Its a good hold, perfect picture quality and its perfect for the price. You can buy some SLR cameras which are expensive, but you could gain alot more from just buying a Nikon D40! Has a good clear colour LCD screen, powerful flash, easy to access memory and battery, comes supplied with everything you need to start you off. I've been told that Canon are good makes, but to be honest, the picture quality i think is so much better on this camera, plus this camera is only a 6 megapixels, so am guessing the Nikon D40x which is a 10 megapixel camera, is proberbly the best camera around at the moment! I would buy any Nikon camera again, no dout....

...I love taking photos but I am the first to admit that I am not very good at it. Most of the pics I take are just holiday snaps or pics of the family but I tend to have my fair share of blurry photos and heads cut off, although not so much now. I recently bought the Nikon Coolpix S200 as my old camera had become very aged. This camera is so easy to use it has helped me take a better class of photo straight away. It has a fairly full range of features which will no doubt take me a long time to learn to use but if you already know your way round a camera will be very useful to you. The camera is a 7.1 mega pixel which I wont try to explain but will tell you that even when zoomed in on your pc or printed in a much larger size will still provide very clear images. It also has electronic Vibration Reduction which helps you to get photos...
