Domotec DSC00013 steam cleaner
Advantages: power, water tank capaacity, variable steam, on/off trigger
Disadvantages: none yet
...After reviewing a large number of steam cleaners I finally opted for the Domotec Super Elite DSC00013. As I spent so much time reviewing steam cleaning equipment I have summarised the specifications on http://www.ucanclean.co.uk where you can compare models and add reviews.
So far this steam cleaner has been absolutely brilliant, its so powerful.
The Domotec DSC00013 has a good specification and is provided with a versatile range of tools including 2 extension tubes which permit reaching ceilings etc and essential in using the carpet/floor tool, a round brush agitator (used this on oven), a window squeegee tool and a concentrator tool (useful for small areas, grouting etc) plus some towelling cloths for upholstery and carpets.
To give a flavour of its flexibility and use for jobs around the home, I've detailed the cleaning...

A mean steam clean
Advantages: Effective and environmentally friendly
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I bought my Polti steam cleaner around two years ago, then priced at £299, including the iron attachment and can honestly say it was worth every penny.
It looks rather like a large red cylinder vacuum cleaner, with a long electric lead and vacuum cleaner like attachments.
On first unpacking everything, it may seem a little daunting at first. There is, however, an excellent instruction book and very useful video to help.
These explain just how the Polti uses the power of steam, without any chemicals or cleansers, to remove dirt from almost anywhere in your home.
There are several benefits here-
Steam is more environmentally friendly than chemical cleansers and their packaging.
Bacteria is effectively destroyed by the high temperature used.
Long-term cost effectiveness can be achieved because of the true multi purpose nature...

Compact Steam Cleaning
Advantages: lightweight and compact
Disadvantages: Little storage for tools
...Hi have had my steam cleaner a week now and used it on a variety of surfaces.
This steam cleaner is very compact the size of a very small cylinder vacuum cleaner and very light, I could lift it one handed no problem. We bought ours from Argos for £59.95. It came well packed but was hard to locate all of 15 accessory pieces as some were stuck to others. In the end I managed to locate everything.
It has a 1.6L water tank that you fill with a jug and a small funnel. The water tank has a "child proof" cap that prevents you unscrewing when the tank is hot preventing burns but does make it a little tricky to open.
Once you have filled the tank with water you plug the machine in and wait. Mine took about 10 minutes to get up to temperature, although you can shorten this by putting hot water in the tank to start with. Then you...

Something to get steamed up about
Advantages: No need for chemicals or detergents
Disadvantages: Flimsy construction
...My first introduction to the Polti Vaparetto was at Downtown Superstore, Grantham. Lincs.
I was having a browse around and came across a demonstration of this steam cleaner.
This machine cleaned everything imaginable and it was all done by steam with no addition of detergents and chemicals , thus sterilising as you go.
When the lady demonstrator got to the ironing part she was suddenly enveloped in clouds of billowing steam and when it came to ironing shirts, she just hung them on a hanger and pointed the iron at them and, viola, creases dropped out as if by magic.
I am a demonstrator's dream as I only have to look and I see, I lust, I crave and if cash permits, I buy.
As this machine cost £349.99, I didn't have enough loose change in my pocket (OK, truth be told, I didn't even have it in my bank account) buying it...

* P P P Pick up a Penguin Steam Steamer . .
Advantages: Quick, efficient.
Disadvantages: None as yet.
...I am not one to be lured by gadgets & gizmos, and I did not actually fall for buying one og these, however, the outlaws (in-laws) did. I of course had to collect it, deliver, read instructions, demonstrate the use, and have the first go, presumably in case it blew up!
The design is obviously made to resemble a penguin, with the steam coming out of the beak. This looks kind of cute, but slightly childish, although forgetting the looks, it actually does the business.
The machine is basically a kettle, which is electronically controlled.
It can last for twelve minutes (insert sexual inuendo here) and gets up a head of steam in just thirty seconds. It is particularly suitable for use where fabric would be damaged by chemicals, or on items that do not like to be too wet. Basically, you can used it on anything that can stand the steam...

A great cleaner
Advantages: cleans without chemoicals
Disadvantages: none
...I bought a wonderful cleaner. A vaporetto steam cleaner. This little machine is a marvel it cleans anything. I boughjt it originally to clean my carpets. It cleans them without leaving any ,marks or getting them wet. It cleans, sterilises and deodorises anything.
IHighly reccomend it if you have animals, children, a kitchen or a bathroom. It is the easiest way to defrost your freezer, clean a greasy cooker, diinfect the toilet,or worktops, unblock sinks, and clean anywere without nasty chemicals.I have used it to clean the carpets after spilling coffee, no stains left. It cleans windows, tiles baths. In fact I haven't found anything that it will not clean.
It works by generating a stream of high pressure steam, the safe thing is that only the 1" from the end of the tool gets hot, as soon as you are away from the end no heat or danger....

aquamark handheld steam cleaner
Advantages: low price,easy to store
Disadvantages: not powerful enough
...I purchased an aquamark handheld steam cleaner because I primarily wanted to clean my filthy stainless steel cookertop and my oven,I also thought that it would be useful to help me tackle a lot of other household chores.
I opted for the handheld version because they are a lot cheaper that the larger models and I dont have an awful lot of storage space.
The product comes with a number of different attachments for different types of job. There is a large hollow brush for upholstery, two smaller brushes labelled a and b to use for stubborn stains on for example work surfaces and bathroom surfaces..the labelling allows you to have a separate brush for these two rooms and is more hygienic. A small "sockette" made from elasticated towelling is provided and this slips over a triangular shaped head and is desingned for use on delicate areas ie...

The night dad got all steamy round the collar!!!
Advantages: Nice bright yellow colour, cleans well if you're very careful
Disadvantages: Expensive, messy to use, no timer on water heater, possibly dangerous
...thought, but with what?
Dad has a mate at work in the showroom, called Joe who's recently bought a new steam cleaner of his own, called a Karcher SC1122 and he was really raving about what a great job it had done on his own carpets. So, dad thought it would be a good idea to ask Joe if we could borrow his "to try it out", before we buy one of our own. On Friday of last week dad came home from work and lugged a bright yellow contraption into the house. He dumped it on the kitchen floor and announced that this was going to save us loads of money on new carpets, give us nice clean upholstery and keep mum happy into the bargain!
Dad ate his tea then got to work. He took the cleaner out of it's box, said there was no need to read the instruction booklet it came with as Joe had explained how easy it was to use, and set to work. He decided...

Steam Through Your Cleaning Schedule!
Advantages: Cleans better than you couls imagine
Disadvantages: Bit heavy
...It was earlier this year that, about March time and I was getting really fed up with the state of my house, it was not dirty but some things I could not do anything with, for example the limescale on the shower cubical, no matter how much I scrubbed it i still could not get it off, I was not going to be beaten by this, so I bought a hand held JML Steam Cleaner.
THE STEAMER
I chose the hand held JML which cost me just under £50. With this particular Steamer you get a range of interchangeable tools these are, a rubber nozzle, 2 small round brushes and a big triangular shaped brush, I believe that you can buy other attachments separately. You also get a cleaning sachet; this is used to clean the nozzle if it gets blocked.
This Steam Cleaner looks much the same as other hand held steam cleaners, looks a bit like a big kettle. It...
