Nivea Sun Lotion for Children
Advantages: Great product, nice smell, lasts a long time
Disadvantages: Can be expensive if bought singularly
...Since summer is upon us (she says looking out the window at torrential rain in May!), I thought it would time to review some seasonal products, and why not make it a baby product!
I had my son last March,and when the summer came around I wanted only the best things for him, which is why I turned to Nivea Sun Creams. My mum had used them on my brother and I when we went abroad and we never got burnt so for me, that was a great advert. So I strolled into my local chemist and headed straight for the sun creams.
To be honest, I was totally shocked at the price of the stuff! I realise that it is only used for a small portion of the year and a bottle can last a long time, but even so! It was advertised at £10.99 for a 200ml bottle. Luckily, as it usually is throughout the summer, they were on Buy One Get One Free, so I grabbed 2 bottles...

Sun Sprays help, Nivea more
Advantages: Read the Review
Disadvantages: Price, requies frequent application
...around a beach dressed like a hi fi executive, to be protected against the sun simply because this is a ridiculous idea. But he matter of factly refered to use something, may be a lotion or even a sun spray to take care of that!
Do you know what I did? I looked for some useful stuff just here at ciao, because I have some reasonably good reviews published up here and number of people said that their reviews are generally unbiased and best of to is that, they all review it with a good bit of personal experience.
I read as many helpful reviews as possible on these types of products. Ultimately my girl friend, and me decided on Nivea Sun Spray factor 10. We took an average and found that the Nivea Sun Spray factor 10 seemed to be the best. Now the problem is getting it. We got hold of factor 2, factor 8 and even factor 15 but not 10. As...

Spray Safe with Nivea Sun Spray!
Advantages: Nice bottle, easy to use, absorbed well.
Disadvantages: A little expensive unless bought on a deal.
...I love this product mainly because I am LAZY and if I am out in the sun it is usually on a beach where I would rather be having fun than slathering sun cream on! A quick and effortless way of protecting yourself from sun burn and sun damage, which with my fair skin makes it a vital product!
This is a simple but great design. The ergonomic bottle is easy to hold, even with slippery hands and the spray lets out a generous burst of lotion that is easily rubbed into your skin. Because it's quicker and easier to use, you're more likely to bother applying it and I can imagine it's also a plus for impatient children who would rather squirm away and dive into the sea!
I bought a bottle of this a couple of years ago and since I don't see too much sun here in the UK, I still have ample amounts left. I purchased it half-price on offer and it has...

Nivea sun cream
Advantages: Quickly absorbed, fragrance free
Disadvantages: Badly affected daughters eyes
...Last year we took our 18 mth old daughter to Florida on holiday, knowing that it was most likely going to be very hot I wanted to make sure that i picked a cream with the highest SPF possible (this one is 50+), and one suitable for sensitive skin (again which this one is)
due to it being fragrance and colourant free.
I found it very easy to apply and it was quickly absorbed, ideal as the last thing you want is a slippery baby in the pool, and on the subject of the pool it also states on the bottle that it is very water resistant.
The only downside of this product which i have to mention is the effect it had on our daughters eyes. After using this for a full day her eyes were very red and sore looking, we discovered that it was a result of her rubbing her eyes and therefore rubbing the cream into them. As a result of this we...

Nivea sunscreen - scorching!
Advantages: Moisturising, Stops burning, Smells nice
Disadvantages: None I can think of
...I have always liked Nivea products; I particularly like the way they smell and this sun tan lotion is no exception. The smell reminds me of summer, which I'm sure you'll agree is no bad thing. It isn't an easy smell to describe, kind of clean and caring and like holidays, but if you have ever smelt a Nivea product then you will know what I am talking about
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why do you need suntan cream?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You need sun protection cream to block the Ultraviolet A (UVA) and Ultraviolet B (UVB) rays that the sun naturally gives out. UVB rays are the ones most of us know about - they are the ones that cause us to burn (or tan). They are blocked somewhat by the ozone layer, but as it has been getting thinner we are becoming more exposed to these rays.
You should also look for a sunscreen that...

Here comes the sun.
Advantages: See review
Disadvantages: See review
...Remember back in May we had that hot spell? I do! I got absolutely toasted! Phew! So the first thing I did once I'd stopped writhing in burning agony was to nip down the shops and buy some lotion.
We always used to get Hawaiian Tropic, and I love the coconutty smell, but the ole' student budget just won't stretch that far, so I nipped into Wilkos to have a look there. They had 200ml bottles of Nivea Sun Mosturising Sun Lotion priced at £6.99. Bargainous. But I looked closer... reduced to £2 plus I'd get a free camera film! Wow! As you can imagine, I bought it.
The wording on the blue bottle told me it protected against sunburn and premature skin ageing, which sounds great to me, and I plumped for factir 16, as I'm fairer than snow white on a rainy day in November, and so burn very easily. :-( (Actually, at the same time, I bought...

Nivea Sun Childrens Sun Spray
Advantages: water resistant, coloured initially, easy grip bottle, smells nice, works well, easy to apply
Disadvantages: runs out fast, slightly too runny, stains white clothing
...This product is specifically designed for children, it provides a very high level of protection against UVA and UVB rays (factor 40), claims to be extra water resistant and suitable for children's delicate skin as well as being coloured so that you can see where it has been applied (to avoid missing bits!).
All of the above reasons made this sun spray seem like an ideal one to use on my little brother on our holiday.
Nivea is a brand that I have always used and never had a problem with, so when I saw that tescos were selling two 200ml spray bottles for just £10, I brought this factor 40 kids product for my bother and a bottle of nivea sun spray factor 20 for the rest of us.
As soon as we were at our hotel in Crete my brother wanted to be in the pool so it seemed the ideal time to test the water resistance of the sun spray as...

Nivea cream soap
Advantages: good for dry skin
Disadvantages: none
...Nivea is a soap that a have been using for a while now, (approx 2 years) I decided to try it as I noticed some dry patches of skin on my face.
Description
This soap comes in a light and dark blue cardboard box, it`s 125g and it cost me 50p for two bars, from my local pound shop, on the front of the box it says Nivea cream soap with Almond oil.
On the side of the box it states, that it is "enriched with Almond oil, Nives creme, this soap gently cleanses your skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth."
Some of the ingredients include:
Sodium tallowate
Sodium cocoate
Sodium chloride

The smell
The soap has a nice odour, it`s hard to describe the smell but it is nice and not to strong, The soap is white in colour with the word Nivea engraved into it. This soap is suitable for in the shower or just...

A kids sun cream that doesn't stain clothes
Advantages: It rubs in well, doesn't stain clothes
Disadvantages: Price
...Since we have just been on holiday, and in a shock fashion had to use sun cream as the sun was out every day, I thought it would be a good time to review the cream that I used on the kids.
The Bottle
--------------
The bottle is blue plastic with a yellow flip lid, which is flat so when you are nearing the end you can stand it upside down to try and get the last bits out! It contains 200ml of sun cream and has all the instructions on the back.
It recommends you apply the cream (which is factor 50) before going into the sun and then again 20-30 minutes after, and any time after being in water, even though it is water resistant you can never be too careful with the little ones.
The sun cream
---------------------
The cream is a yellowy cream colour and the texture you would expect of a sun cream, it is easy to squeeze out...

~~~NIVEA SUN PROTECTION!~~~
Advantages: protects from harmful sun rays, moisturises! Is water-proof
Disadvantages: some ingredients ''harmful'' - but i doubt this -only rare
...moisturisers. It is brilliantly waterproof!! You can tell when you come out of the swimming pool that is still on you as it has that water-running-off-oil appearance as you first step out. In my experience I would say that it lasts for about 3 hours. After then we would usually top up a little bit, just incase! Nothing worse than red raw shoulders!!
~~~~~ PACKAGING ~~~~~
The bottle's appearance is very simplistic. As shown in the picture for this product it is ofcourse the trademark NIVEA blue. There is nothing special to the bottle, although it can be picked out easily from other moisturisers due to it's bright blue bottle. Although for this slightly lower price you are not expecting something unbelievably fancy. It is simple and gets the message of a moisturising sun tan lotion across easily and clearly. It also has the SPF marked clearly...
