THE INFORMATION. ITS BY BECK AND IT'S PRETTY OK!

Advantages: 5 YEAR CONCEPTION IS OVER FOR BECK & GODRICH
Disadvantages: COVERING ACCIDENTLY COVERED GROUND SOMEWHAT

...A trademark Latino-tinged Beck sound is delivered unto us once again. 'Elevator Music' greets us at the outset of 'The Information', the latest offering from the genius that is Beck. A lax, streetwise opener to what surely will be another great LP. A less imaginative 'I Think I'm In Love' follows, ambling along repeatedly, until towards the songs close, when we hear the interjection of some sharp strings. 'Cell Phone's Dead' s cold electro pop, accompanies an urgent sounding and on form Beck. With the odd sample of a boy saying "1 x 1, I'll knock you out", some great scratching from DJ Z trip, taking over from DJ Foodcourt ( Becks pseudonym) and some well placed echo effect, all these things are brought together to set the LP on it's way. ...I finished this course last year and managed to get work within a month or so of my finals. The course is designed to be a conversion one for those of us who don't have a computer science background, but want to learn. It's not entirely IT related, as it does focus on 'Information' as well, so don't expect to be a Java expert when you finish. If you want to do a more hands-on programming course then PG Information Systems is the course for you. The course won't teach you everything in a year, but it will give you a grounding. All of us have managed to get jobs from the 18 of us on the course last year in various guises: web design, IT training, lecturing. The Book With No Plot

Advantages: It's different...
Disadvantages: Not terribly cohesive, too many characters and sub-plots.

...This was a very strange book and one that I picked up as I was intrigued by the title and the fact that the author was Anonymous. According to the blurb on the back of the book this was originally self-published on the internet. The plot centres around (unsurprisingly) "The Book With No Name" - a book which if read leads to the death of the reader. I thought this sounded quite interesting but the mysterious book is not as central as you would assume from the premise. The other main plot focus is on the retrieval of a precious stone known as "The Eye of the Moon". This stone is rumoured to have magical powers and is guarded by a group of monks known as Hubals who live on an island. No, no, NO Virginia!

Advantages: There really are a couple of stunning tracks and it is essentially the same Dolls sound
Disadvantages: You get the impression that many of the tracks are recycled versions of better songs...

...The Dresden Dolls are one of those amazing bands that are hard to categorize; not in the case of HIM where I lazily describe their genre as 'gothic' for the sake of it. The band from Boston, Ma are a bit different to all of that and instead of being gothic, the Dresden Dolls created their own genre for themselves, namely Brechtian punk cabaret. No idea what it means but it looks good on a computer screen! Technically, lead singer, pianist and songwriter Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione aren't together as the Dresden Dolls anymore. ...Deal or no deal is my favorite game show, it is currently on channel 4 early in the evening or late in the afternoon for some, i love watching this and find it very entertaining. The show is presented by Noel Edmonds and is filmed in Bristol. The show starts with 22 contestants choosing randomly one of 22 boxes that all have a money value inside but have been sealed previous to this so no one has any idea what is in there box.
