Adequate Seven are no longer Here On Earth

Advantages: A number of highly infectious, incredibly catchy songs
Disadvantages: The tracks don't sound as good on CD as they did live

...Adequate Seven were a UK band that use to often get misplaced in the genre bracket of 'Skacore', however their sound was always far more than this in truth; bridging the divide between Funk and Hardcore, fusing the two in order to produce their own unique brand of music. I feel that the band were always at their best when they opted to show off their more Hardcore side, however the band do this less so on their second album 'Here On Earth' in favour of exploring their funkier nature. Unfortunately in the December of 2006, having been around for 6 years and after playing over 500 gigs the band decided to call it a day. This was a great loss for UK music as Adequate Seven were an exceptional live band; however their music still lives on today through the records that they released. The seven deadly sins

Advantages: Fabulous ending
Disadvantages: Some of it is quite dull

...Detective Lieutenant William Somerset is just six days off retiring when he becomes involved in the hunt for a serial killer. Aided by Detective David Mills, it soon becomes clear that the murders, although initially random, do have something in common - each of them is the representation of one of the seven deadly sins. Disadvantages: Made me cry like a baby, but sometimes that's a good thing

Advantages: Atmosphre
Disadvantages: Brad Pitt

...Whereas I did enjoy watching Seven, I don't feel the need to brag about it like most people do. You can appreciate the amount of effort that has gone into making the film (particularly with Andrew Kevin Walker's writing), but then you analyse other things -- such things as Pitt's performance -- and wonder why people tend to rate it so highly. The story is concerned with veteran detective Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and cocky, young partner Mills (Brad Pitt), and their investigations into a series of murders based on the seven deadly sins. The first victim they meet is a cripplingly obese man sat in his own urine and faeces. The word "gluttony" has been written on the wall behind the freezer. Hardly the most beautiful opening to a film, but that's the whole idea. As the two cops uncover more killings, things get much more horrific...

A pound of flesh - seven times over!

...I had read some mixed reviews about Seven Pounds, but being a big fan of Will Smith, I thought that I would get the DVD anyway and form my own opinion. I am very glad that I did because both me and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the film although it was not obvious that we were going to at first. It's a bit difficult at first to work out what is going on. The time sequence jumps about a lot with lots of flashbacks so it's a bit tricky to work out what is now and what was then. It's a bit like having to fit lots of pieces of a jigsaw together - quite daunting at first but very satisfying when it is complete. Because of this it is not easy to summarise the plot without giving too much away. We know that right from the start that Smith's character, Ben Thomas, is a very troubled man as his first action is to dial 911 and to report his own...

Advantages: emotional, moving, excellent story, wonderfully acted
Disadvantages: Too emotional at times

...needed for the scenes they were used in. Now without trying to spoil this film for those who have not seen it then I would just like to touch upon the ending as for me is was not what I was expecting. I had a times throughout the film thought I had worked out how it would end but I got it so wrong and for me it was a very powerful and moving end to a wonderful film. I will warn that tissues will be needed for the last 20 minutes of this. The DVD which I have does have a few special features which include:- Audio Commentary with Director Gabriele Muccino Deleted Scenes Featurettes: Seven Views on Seven Pounds, Creating the perfect Ensemble, The Box Jellyfish: World?s Deadliest Co Star, Emily?s Passion: The Art of the Printing Press. Advantages: Memorable acting by Rosario and Woody
Disadvantages: Poor acting by Smith, tepid script, poorly put constructed scenes

The film mainly revolves around the growing relationship between the third person on the list, Emily Posa, who is on the heart transplant list and had to re-mortgage her house to pay the bills and Ben; he takes a shine to her. No wonder, she is pretty hot. He does good deeds for the other 5 people obviously and is revealed throughout the film. It took a long time for the character development to occur, by this time, I was growing a bit restless due to the slowness of the film; there wasn't that much pace applied. ...The first dvd release of Seven was incredibly lacklustre but there was always a the rumour that a special edition would eventually turn up as seeing as New Line were the film's producers, well you wouldn't doubt them Released as a two dvd set this is a very accomplished effort that was well worth waiting for. As you probably know the film follows two detectives , one old, one young as they try to track down a serial killer who is killing according to the seven deadly sins. What set's this aside from being the normal genre standard are great performances, gruesome relaity and a very dark tone courtesy of David Fincher. The film itself has been re-mastered for this release. Advantages: Excellent performances and a clever story
Disadvantages: A bit bleak and depressing! Not really a disadvantage for me but not to everyone's taste

Freeman plays a retiring cop hoping to escape the eternally dreary and grim city in which he has been working with the homicide squad for many years.
