Nokia N97 - 'The new iPhone'
Advantages: 32gb Internal Memory, Nice Looking, Full QWERTY Keyboard, 5 MP Camera
Disadvantages: A Little Bulky, Price, Small Processer Makes The Phone Slow
... Intro
Being the previous owner of a Sony Ericsson w850 for over 2 years, I decided that it was time for a mobile phone upgrade. I had a few different phones in mind, the Apple iPhone, Nokia N97, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music and the HTC Touch Pro, in the end I chose to buy the new Nokia N-Series phone. It was a clear choice over the iPhone because of the price, also you do not have to buy the phone AND pay a monthly contract fee with the N97.
Buying The Phone
After choosing the phone I decided that I wanted to switch to contract instead of pay as you go. At the time the phone was only available on the Vodafone and Orange networks, but I believe that you can get it on most major networks now. I had previously been with Orange and wasn't too impressed with their service, so I chose Vodafone, they also had better deals for the N97...

Nokias most recent attack on i-phone succes or failure
Advantages: memory
Disadvantages: touchscreen
...as a owner and user of the nokia n97 i can say i am overall very happy with the improvements that nokia have made on previous models i.e N96 and N95. Lets face it all of us who went from owning an N95 to what nokia seem to believe was a better model (N96) were extremely dissapointed as although looking good on paper the N96 failed to meet the standards of its pre- deccesor but i am glad to say nokia have redeemed themselves on the launch of the N97. There have been many improvements made on previous models i.e the processor is alot faster and the slow transitions between menus has been completely iradicated due to the massive 32Gb memory which can still be increased to a huge 48GB by the handy memory slot tucked away under the rear cover of the phone. Another improvement on previous models is the slider mechanism after a few minor issues...

Review - The Nokia N97 vs The iPhone 3GS
Advantages: Good Looking, Durable, Huge Memory, Very Very Good QWERTY keyboard
Disadvantages: Tiny processor leading to lag and application crashes
... The Nokia N97
Nokia have announced the follow up to their 5800 XpressMusic touchscreen phone. The Nokia N97, which utilises a 3.5 inch touchscreen and slide out QUERTY keyboard.
Appearance
The overall design of the N97 is not at all unique, looking like the lovechild of a Google G1 and Apple iPhone, comparisons have also been drawn to the AT&T Tilt, and rightly so. Despite Nokia's lack of imagination the N97 is a nice looking thing, apart from a small button in the bottom left corner, the 3.5 inch touchscreen dominates and looks sleek and well designed.
When the QUERTY keyboard is slid out the screen sits at an angle, looking remarkably like the HTC TyTN. The N97 is both larger and thicker than the iPhone, which isn't exactly inconspicuous itself, this makes the N97 feel a little too large, especially...

The iphone's competition, Nokia 5800!!
Advantages: Full bluetooth, great sound, wifi, 8 gig storage (expandable) Touch Screen and great screen size.
Disadvantages: Touch screen responsiveness is a bit tedious.
...Please bear in mind that this review is my own personal opinion. I have owned the Apple Iphone 3G 8 gig version and also the Nokia 5800.
The nokia 5800 is Nokia's first venture into the touch screen world and they have released it as the dangerous opponent to the Iphone. Both phones are great in their own separate ways, Personally I still think the iphone has got the leading edge.
The touch screen responsiveness of the nokia 5800 is nowhere near as greatly sensitive as the iphone. Often needing to put a little bit more pressure on the somewhat flimsy screen of the Nokia 5800.
The Iphone screen is made of glass and works via some heat sensitive touch screen. whereas the nokia 5800 is operated by finger, Supplied plectrum or stylus which is hidden away in the rear of the casing.
All 3 touch methods on the nokia 5800 have their...

Nokia 5800 Pushes All The Right Buttons
Advantages: Screen, music player, internet access, easy access to functions, lots more.
Disadvantages: Um... it's so good I keep paying it too much attention
...The last time I started a new phone contract I didn't really think about the phone I was getting and just kind of got one that looked kind of nice. Then I was a purely texting person, with the odd phone call. That after all is what a phone is about, right? Well it's what I thought. After finding some of the more useful features on my last phone, the Nokia E65, as well as cursing over things it couldn't do, I knew I was going to have to choose my phone more carefully. And then the iPhone was released and seemed to be everything I wanted... except for a nice price, so really it was out of the question. So when I came to finally renew my contract I had a look for what phone I could get for a reasonable price... and so I ended up with the Nokia 5800.
In The Box
I waited with anticipation for my new phone to arrive. I had done my...

A huge dissapointment for Nokia's first touchscreen phone
Advantages: Good camera with flash, Sound quality and volume, Nice color scheme
Disadvantages: Slow, hard to navigate, flimsy touchscreen, lacking in features.
... Nokia 5800
I was one of the first people to own one of these phones; within a week of them being released I just had to get my hands on Nokia's first attempt at a touch screen phone. At first I was impressed with the range of features the 5800 had, and novelty of owning a touch screen phone. However within a few weeks of owning this phone the novelty wears off and you begin to see what?s really 'under the hood' of this phone.
Touch Screen =
First of all the touch screen, unlike the impressive iphone the 5800 offers you a choice between using a stylus or your fingers to navigate through your phone including a neat little hole in the back of the casing to hide your stylus away. Brilliant as it may seem to be offered this choice between the two alot of the navigational buttons are very precise and you will often find yourself...

Nokia 5800 - Jack Of All Trades, Master Of None
Advantages: Great applications, Easy to use, Its Nokia!
Disadvantages: Irritating texting, Touch screen could be more responsive, Camera could be a lot better
...While many reviews compare Nokias first entry into the touchscreen market against Apples iPhone, I am going to avoid the topic altogether. If you wish to read such a review, check out basically any review on the net today. If you would like to read a non-biast review about a decent phone, with both striking features and irritating flaws, read on.
I've had the Nokia 5800 for a just over a month now, enough time to get to grips with it. Not having a Nokia for a couple of years it was great to jump stright into the phone and after 2 years, they still feel like Nokias, which I liked. The interface is incredibly easy to pick up, even if you have never used a touchscreen phone before I think it would take a matter of hours before you knew the interface inside out. In my opinion, Nokias have always been the most simpliest of phones and that...

Nokia 5800 - Forget stats, IS IT GOOD!!
Advantages: Applications, battery life, wifi, plus many many more!
Disadvantages: cheap feel, camera
...Having owned this for for little over one month now, I would say that this phone good, almost very good.
For me, this phone is very easy to use, has great features, and works very well as either a phone, or an mp3 player. The downside however is the design, with poor looks and a very cheap feel, this is not a phone for you if you wish to look executive.
Since owning the phone, I have had little problems, the occasional freeze, but nothing disasterous. I would recommend, should you purchase this phone, to buy a silicone/leather cover for it to hide its ugly looks. I did this and the transformation was amazing.
My previous phone was a sony ericsson with a 3.2 mega pixel camera. With the same mega pixels, the clarity of pictures from the nokia is nowhere near that of the sony. So if it is a good camera that you are after...

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Phone
Advantages: internet connection , comes with spare stilus
Disadvantages: slightly delayed speed due to touch screen and tedious nature
...I was due for an upgrade and once again in the position of selecting a new phone.Having browsed online i came across the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and was instantly captivated by its unique appearance .I have to admit i'v always been a fan of Nokia and Samsung and having used this phone , Nokia has definately topped the list .
It has a wide variety of functions ranging from the classics such as texting and calls to touchscreen ,internet connection and a unique handwriting feature which allows you to write directly onto the screen with the help of the stilus (writing wand).Althiugh this idea is fairly innovative and does create the impression of an expensive phone , I personally found it to be slightly tedious and preffererred to text the normal way.
It includes a camera of 3.2pixels allowing photographs of moderate quality, which is...

Nokia 5800 - Overall a very good user experience
Advantages: Good screen, nice features, great for music
Disadvantages: Touch screen misses touches sometimes
...The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone is one of Nokia's first attempts at a touch screen handset for the masses. Before its release, many were hoping it would rival the iPhone. Well, what you must understand, before making a purchase of the 5800, is that Nokia are not targetting the iPhone with this particular handset, though they may make their challenge later this year with a different model.
The 5800 is a superb touch phone though. It is aimed at those who really like the Nokia user interface and who want their mobile phone primarily for music. This is where the 5800 excels. It is superb for music and movies too. However, in movie playback things can get a little jerky. In addition to the main screen being fully touch sensitive, there is also a touch media button located just above the top right corner of the screen. This gains you quick...
