Nokia N97 - 'The new iPhone'
Advantages: 32gb Internal Memory, Nice Looking, Full QWERTY Keyboard, 5 MP Camera
Disadvantages: A Little Bulky, Price, Small Processer Makes The Phone Slow
... Intro
Being the previous owner of a Sony Ericsson w850 for over 2 years, I decided that it was time for a mobile phone upgrade. I had a few different phones in mind, the Apple iPhone, Nokia N97, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music and the HTC Touch Pro, in the end I chose to buy the new Nokia N-Series phone. It was a clear choice over the iPhone because of the price, also you do not have to buy the phone AND pay a monthly contract fee with the N97.
Buying The Phone
After choosing the phone I decided that I wanted to switch to contract instead of pay as you go. At the time the phone was only available on the Vodafone and Orange networks, but I believe that you can get it on most major networks now. I had previously been with Orange and wasn't too impressed with their service, so I chose Vodafone, they also had better deals for the N97...

Review - The Nokia N97 vs The iPhone 3GS
Advantages: Good Looking, Durable, Huge Memory, Very Very Good QWERTY keyboard
Disadvantages: Tiny processor leading to lag and application crashes
... The Nokia N97
Nokia have announced the follow up to their 5800 XpressMusic touchscreen phone. The Nokia N97, which utilises a 3.5 inch touchscreen and slide out QUERTY keyboard.
Appearance
The overall design of the N97 is not at all unique, looking like the lovechild of a Google G1 and Apple iPhone, comparisons have also been drawn to the AT&T Tilt, and rightly so. Despite Nokia's lack of imagination the N97 is a nice looking thing, apart from a small button in the bottom left corner, the 3.5 inch touchscreen dominates and looks sleek and well designed.
When the QUERTY keyboard is slid out the screen sits at an angle, looking remarkably like the HTC TyTN. The N97 is both larger and thicker than the iPhone, which isn't exactly inconspicuous itself, this makes the N97 feel a little too large, especially...

The Nokia N95
Advantages: Good quality with plenty of great features and applications
Disadvantages: Short battery life, may occasionally freeze
...The Nokia n95 was first released on sale in the UK at the beginning of 2007. It was one of the most advanced phones available at this time. It has a lot to offer the owner. First of all, the display is a 240 x 360 TFT display with ambient light detector and up to 16million different colours to take your fancy. The display is quite clear with not a lot of icons to clutter up the space.
The signal and battery levels are illustrated in the top corners of the screen split either side of the time and the profile selection, e.g. silent, general, and meeting. Beneath this we have the main tabs showing from left to right; the contacts list, radio DJ, bluetooth, web, gallery and maps. The calendar is hidden below this and can be opened to view dates and set reminders for birthdays etc. These reminders appear on the main display screen which is...

Nokia N95
Advantages: large screen
Disadvantages: none
...It took ages to boot up. By the time it was ready for use it had been at least a 3 minutes. At first i thought "it's broken already?" as it seemed to be stuck on the white nokia logo screen. It did eventually spring into life and a nice welcome screen asking me about tutorials and would i like to watch some video of how to operate then handset. I noticed at this point that the light omitted from the screen was visable through the side of the handset, the screen it self is sandwiched between an upper and lower plate of plastic, the gap between them both was where the light was escaping. This to me looked terrible and further added to my disappointment of the N95, cheap and tacky build quality which for the price of handset is really unacceptable. The screen itself is really nice, it's clear, has plenty of colour range and is nice...

great phone, hopefully better than n96
Advantages: great screen, camera, storage
Disadvantages: cost
...standards go, isnt going to pin any awards, but you cant have everything.
it has smartphone capabilities, with microsoft office (word, excel powerpoint) and browsing of the full internet. also has a full media player.
comes standard with all the nokia qwerks, such as n-series games etc, which also gives you the choice of getting one free full version :)
BATTERY
not incredible, but for a phone with this much goin on, its pretty darn good. we're talking about 5 hours talktime, and about 200 hours standby. again, not going to win awards, but it is fairly good for a touchscreen with all these features.
EASE OF USE
as with all nokia, its fool-proof. easy menu layout, easy command keys, simple texting/camera/internet.
its all groovy baby!
i would definately recommend this to a friend if they have a lot of money. personally speaking...

N95 - Nokia's Finest
Advantages: Features, Features, Features
Disadvantages: Battery Life
...Having always been a Nokia fan, when the time came to upgrade by phone from the 'very functional once you upgraded the firmware' N73, I had little hesitation in going for the N95, despite staff at O2 advising me the K850i was a 'vastly superior phone'.
The handset was free and the contact very rosy so I waited eagerly for it's arrival. It was easy to se up, the phone worked well straight out of the box.
Being a bit of a geek my first port of call was gadgets, the mp3 player, video player, camera etc. The screen proved to be large and well designed. The onboard real player function makes an excellent video player. The 5Mps camera is as you'd expect excellent and the auto focus is a godsend to someone an inept at photography as myself.
Thanks once again to the screen internet use it easy, and the camera functions clear. The video...

Nokia N95
Advantages: Great Camera, lots of extras
Disadvantages: not enough storage space, music loudspeaker not that loud
...Well I have to say as a fan of Nokia the N95 did not disappoint. The screen is great it is extremely user friendly and has so many features and applications it will keep you busy for ages.
However, a couple of things to point out with the N95 is the Satnav facility. This was one of the reasons I bought the phone, you have to download the maps, sometimes the software can be a bit dodgy ( I had to reinstall the maps and format my disk to get it to work) Its a great service, but you do have to pay extra to get the actual voice navigation program. After paying line rental and call costs the last thing I wanted to do was spend more money!
The camera is pretty awesome for a phone and was the first mobile phone to have a 5megapixel Carl Zeiss camera.
The back of my phone came off, probably after dropping it a few times, and now...

The Nokia N95
Advantages: Excellent services
Disadvantages: Large in size
...The beginning:
I bought the nokia N95 when it came newly on the market. It was brought through a contract with o2 after I closed my sim only contract where I payed £25 a month (I think). o2 rang me and asked me if I wanted an upgrade and truthfully I was looking to buy a new phone as I originally had a nokia 6600, which as you may well know is nearly the size of a brick (although the nokia n95 isn't really any smaller). Anyway the o2 supervisor asked me which type of contract I wanted which got sorted but I wanted the 'newest phone out' which at that time was the nokia N95. When the o2 supervisor mentioned it had a navigation system, I thought 'I'll have that please' so agreed to buy it on contract. I didn't know which colours they had and which colour I was going to get but I came to have the plum colour one, which I preferred in...

Nokia N95
Advantages: Too many to mention
Disadvantages: disappointing sat nav
...I recently purchased the Nokia N95 I have now had it for about two weeks, I haven't had a chance to use all the features, but have used quite a few and had a play around. So thought I would write a review and then update it as I try more and more of the features.
The N95 is packed with features and this review could last for days if I explained them all. I'm going to concentrate on the most used and interesting features.
Lets start with the look and the screen size:
I like Nokias and am a fan and I haven't been disappointed with the look and feel of the N95. My other half has a Nokia N73 and when they are side by side the phones look very similar the difference and in my opinion the benefit of the N95 is the screen size. The screen is large for such a compact phone, it is 2.6 inch all the technical specifications can be found...

Nokias most recent attack on i-phone succes or failure
Advantages: memory
Disadvantages: touchscreen
...as a owner and user of the nokia n97 i can say i am overall very happy with the improvements that nokia have made on previous models i.e N96 and N95. Lets face it all of us who went from owning an N95 to what nokia seem to believe was a better model (N96) were extremely dissapointed as although looking good on paper the N96 failed to meet the standards of its pre- deccesor but i am glad to say nokia have redeemed themselves on the launch of the N97. There have been many improvements made on previous models i.e the processor is alot faster and the slow transitions between menus has been completely iradicated due to the massive 32Gb memory which can still be increased to a huge 48GB by the handy memory slot tucked away under the rear cover of the phone. Another improvement on previous models is the slider mechanism after a few minor issues...
