Northern Quarter for the Northern Birds

...I love Manchester, and used to go quite regularly. Unfortunately money is tight so I don't get as many nights out down there as I used. When I do get down, I like to make the most of it. Last time I was in Manchester, we stayed at The Northern Quarter Apartments. The Northern Quarter The Northern Quarter of Manchester consists of High Street and the 'original Northern Quarter' on Oldham Street, which is slightly North of the Arndale Centre and Piccadilly Gardens in the centre of Manchester. There are loads of funky little boutique shops, which are amazing for vintage clothes. There are plenty of coffee shops ( the one next to Pop is quite relaxed and cool) and small sandwiches shops and eateries. The nightlife in the Northern Quarter includes bars like Dry Bar which used to be owned by New Order, the "modern burlesque" club Mint...

Advantages: Complex, aromatic and reasonably priced fragrance

The Heart and Soul of the Irish health service.

Advantages: Characters are well explored.
Disadvantages: All a bit sugar coated.

...As readers to my page know, I have had a bit of a Marian Keyes spell of reading, so I thought I would have a change. Not much of a change, to be fair, as I returned to a previous favourite for easy reading, in Maeve Binchy. Again, another Irish female author, and one who I trust to give me a good yarn at the end of a busy day. I was given several hard back copies of her novels by my sister, one of which was ?Heart and Soul?. I have read this as a stand alone novel, but just read another review which has told me that it was a sequel to Whitethorn Woods. I have Whitethorn Woods to read, also, so I feel a bit let down that I wasn?t made aware of this by the author when I was choosing which book to start with. The Princes Of Swingin' Soul

Advantages: Bangers throughout

..."Sons of Soul" was the third album from the R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné!., it came out in 1993, in the latter days of the R&B/Hip Hop hybrid that was New Jack Swing and so you can hear that it is being watered-down fairly significantly by this point. Amongst the Oakland group you have Raphael Saadiq in lead vocals, Timothy Christian Riley and D'Wayne Wiggins. Aside from these you have other people who go on to make up the band who compose the music, as well as a personal production group. 1. "If I Had No Loot" This one opens up the album and has them go straight tin with some freaky New Jack Swing to liven it all up. It is a killer song on the thing, and ironically it samples a rap from Ice Cube which ridiculed the whole New Jack swing movement, but it seems to have been used effectively in this case on the energetic production...

...I too suffer daily at the hands of Northern Rail. Overcrowding, delays and cancellations are the most common problems. After three years of travelling to work using this company, i am able to say that from experience, there has been no improvement in the level of service for the £300,000,000 tax payers money that is annually chucked their way. The service provided by Northern rail is thrown into sharp contrast by that of Trans Pennine Express who have invested in new trains and actually understand the concept of customer service. I read with interest an interview with the boss of Trans Pennine who explained that, when travelling on his trains, he makes a point of announcing his presence on the train to elicit feedback from his customers. I can only imagine what would be done to the boss of Northern rail if he/she was to follow...

...Three years ago I decided the time had finally come for me to build up my own mountain bike. Actually, the decision was made for me when I read a review in a magazine about the Cotic Soul. The test rider was the exact same height as me, and the frame of this bike seemed particularly suited to the type of riding I liked to do - I'm not interested in big jumps, or tricks, or drops. I like all-day cross country comfort, with fun coming from fast and twisty singletrack as well as tight, technical sections. And so it was that I parted with £400 for a bright orange frame (inclusive of delivery and a seatpost quick release).
