...Over the years i've been a loyal customer to Symantec, Purchasing their products since the time when they used the massive boxes to ship them in. Norton internet security has to be the best version yet. As with all the other Norton security packages, it does its job extremely well. I have to admit that I can't remember the last time I got any virus onto my system. The only thing would be the simple tracking cookie. Slowness People think that when they buy Norton, it completely slows their PC down. Now, this may be true for some of symantecs older security, but 2009 is completely different. Norton Anti-Virus - made me feel ill!!!

Advantages: Easy to install, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Extremely poor customer service

...From what I have heard, most people have a satisfactory experience of Norton, however for me it was a complete nightmare. It is reasonably priced, as I'm a great believer in you get what you pay for and it's the most trusted name around. I'd checked the system requirements and was told by the salesman in Currys that it's idiot proof to install. I have a laptop and so i went straight home and tried to install it. The initial installation was fine, very easy to follow the instructions and seemed to work straight away. The problems came when it came to activating the product. For some unknown reason, it refused to connect to the Symantec server. I'd read the manual which was very helpful, and followed the steps (checking for parental controls etc) but to no avail. Norton's '2005 Internet Security'

Advantages: Good complete package
Disadvantages: Noticeably slows down speed of system once installed

Also to on a standard dial-up account, depending on your internet provider, the connection can 'time-out' also halfway through the download and disconnect you, which is annoying, but the programme will remember how much of the update you downloaded before the disconnect, and next time you reconnect, will continue to download it with no problems. Overall, I've always been impressed with the standard of Symantec's products and would recommended it to anyone, but I personally wouldn't recommend trying to install it on a machine any lower than a Pentium 2, 800 Mhz, 256Mb RAM. Advantages: simplicity, effectiveness, features, live updates
Disadvantages: new versions can be quite expensive

...I have been using Norton for a few years now, and have tried several alternatives. Some free, some not. To be honest I just don't feel safe on-line without Norton safeguarding my computer any more. Without wanting to bash the rest, they were slow, awkward, difficult, lacking in features whereas Norton, well I forget its running most of the time. The 2006 edition is great if you're a bit low on money and can't afford the new 2007 edition. 2006 still has all the features, works without bothering you, is thorough and effective, and is so easy to use I have never had to check the manual that came with it. When you insert the installation disk Norton takes over and guides you through set up, offering you options on various levels of protection for your system. Norton Internet "Security" 2008 review

...Norton Internet Security came with part of my Norton Anti-virus package, unfortunately, I wasted my money: The norton package was a complete faliure as protection, my computer got numourus viruses and popups of pornography. The apparant internet security let through a hacker that somehow removed all of my data, causing me to re-install my operating platform. The amount of space Norton took up on my computer was extremely robust, and the files often got currupted when i recived a virus (not particularly helpful as an anti-virus). After a month of the space-taking-see-through-firewall, i decided to browse for a knew anti-virus, and i found meny annonoymous packages for 1/2 the price, with no bad reviews on the product (Like mine). I would not reccomend the product for any mannor of computer, as it tends to ATTRACT viruses...

...I bought this just after my trial period on my new computer ended with norton, i was quite impressed to begin with as norton 360 has the ability to do pc tune ups, backs up your files and does all of your internet security. Although the back up facility does not last long as it only offers you 2gb of storage, which if you have alot of music, pictures and files this goes rather quickly. On the up side to this you do have an oppertuniy to purchase more space. The pc tune up is brilliant, it speeds your computer up and keeps it up to the performance you expect, although ive recently found a free microsoft product which does exactly the same thing.
