The Welbeck Hotel, Nottingham
Advantages: Very Central Location, Good Value For Money
Disadvantages: 10am Checkout
...When I needed to find some cheap Hotel accommodation in Nottingham City Centre a couple of Weeks ago, the Internet was the logical place to start my search. I tried the usual chains including Travelodge, but since my stay was less than one week away I quickly found that I was struggling.
Eventually I stumbled upon the Welbeck Hotel. Location wise it seemed perfect, right in the centre of the City, and price wise it was well within my budget too, and so I confirmed my Online booking.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Well to be honest the first thing that impressed me was the location. It was less than five minutes walk from the Lace Market, and well within walking distance of all of the other Shops and Attractions.
The next thing that appealed to me was the design of the building itself. It is quite a large, modern looking, Hotel on five...

Citilodge Nottingham Affordable Luxury?
Advantages: Good location,nice rooms
Disadvantages: Service and Attitude of Reception staff, Entrance
...I stayed here about 3 years ago on my first visit to Nottingham. The day started with a flight down to East Midlands and then a bus to Nottingham City Centre which took about an hour. Upon arrival, my friend and i looked for accommodation around Nottingham and even went to the tourist information centre to pick up a booklet of all the accommodation options in and around the city. It was approximately 28 degrees and we looked through the booklet many times and ended up walking around for two hours in order to try and find a guest house and bed and breakfast- which there were absolutely none in the City Centre. We almost gave up hope until we came across a place called Citylodge which was in the City Centre and claimed to be "affordable luxury". Seeing as we didn't have many options other than going to a hotel, we decided to stay here...

Nice hotel in heart of Nottingham
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful :) Good location
Disadvantages: Parking
...*Introduction*
The 'Premier Travel Inn' chain is biggest hotel chain in the UK and has over 480 locations across the country at cheap prices, with rooms starting from £48 per night. The Premier Travel Inn at Nottingham has 160 bedrooms in total, on 4 floors. My boyfriend and I decided that we would go and stay in Nottingham as we have never been there before, and we chose this hotel as it was cheap and had a good location.
*Location*
The hotel is located right in the heart of the city centre so there is easy access to pubs, clubs, restaurants and shops. We arrived by train, the hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the train station, or if you prefer you can get the tram from the train station for £1.40 each and it will drop you off just a few metres from the hotel.
The road on which the hotel is built on is very quiet traffic...

Victoria Centre Nottingham
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...Nottingham has two large shopping centres, the Broadmarsh Centre and the Victoria Centre, situated at opposite ends of the city centre .The Victoria Centre is the bigger of the two, containing 120 shops (not counting all the various stalls in the market area.)
Getting there is easy - if you drive, there's parking for over 2700 cars . If you don't drive, don't worry - almost all the Nottingham City Transport buses stop either directly outside the Victoria Centre, or within a few minutes walk of it . Other bus companies from slightly further afield, such as Trent Barton , terminate at the local coach station within the centre . If you're walking, the centre is signposted from various points in the city centre, and at the end of the day when you're weighed down with shopping, there are 2 taxi ranks directly outside the main entrance...

Good business hotel, showing it's age
Advantages: comfortable and clean
Disadvantages: seems to be some cost cutting going on
...This hotel is no longer the Renaissance, it has been sold by Marriott to a group called Principal Hayley Group. It is now called The Derbyshire Hotel.
The Derbyshire Hotel is just off Junction 28 of the M1, it has conference facilities so is usually used by business people or companies needing a meeting room. Across the road is a touchbase (a building to hire meeting rooms), a premier inn and the attached Brewers Fayre. So cheaper competition close by.
When staying you can use the heated indoor pool & a small gym for free. I've never used these so can't comment but it's good to have the facilities available.
I've stayed a few times both before and after the switch of ownership. The very first time I stayed I did feel it was a little tired looking, a little old fashioned and in need of a refurb.
Having said that it was...

Relaxing time, lovely location
Advantages: location, cleanliness, room quality, architecture
Disadvantages: price
...I must say that I was surprised to discover that no one had reviewed Hart's Hotel, Nottingham. A local girl, I have heard a great deal of good things about the hotel over the last couple of years and have harboured a desire to stay there for quite some times.
So recently, thanks to a superb special offer ran by the hotel, I finally achieved my aim and stayed at Hart's for one night. Now i'm afraid i must admit to the decadence of this decision - I live in Nottingham and therefore staying at a hotel isn't really necessary! But hopefully the fact that I didn't need to stay there helped with my assessment of the place.
I will go through the specific criteria and explain each of my ratings. For the record, I stayed one night in a standard room.
Value for money
Ok, so as I mentioned I was fortunate enough to get a room at a very, very...

A Room With No View!!!!!!
Advantages: limping distance to the shopping centre
Disadvantages: No TV channels
...Toria and I decided to have a girlie weekend, no washing up,eat when we like, shop till we drop, swim, sauna, jacuzzi and slob in front of a TV.
With that criteria - the hotel did not need to be far away as long as it was close to the shops (I'm still limping). I checked the internet for a LeisureBreak weekend deal and the Nottingham Hilton came up as favourite at £109 for two people - a room for two nights, breakfast two days and dinner on the first night.
It was going to be oh so easy - from where we live, just a 35 minute drive..... Toria drove and I navigated - what a mistake - we got stuck in the one way system in Nottingham city centre and even though we asked several people, we couldn't get near to the hotel. Eventually I gave up and rang my son who, from the peace of his computer in Swindon navigated his harrassed family...

Once upon a time in Nottingham
Advantages: A view of history through everyday objects in Nottingham
Disadvantages: No access for wheelchairs
...The table was covered in the bright green cloth of Lincoln scattered with children's games, the reflection in the large mirror of the heavy Victorian sideboard reproduce the image of the china tea service, the brass oil lamp and the big family bible. In the other corner was the Grandfather clock no longer ticking and the hearth of the fire place with it's big cast iron fender framing the roaring open coal fire reminded me of the days of my childhood visiting my Great, Great Aunt Caroline. This room was virtually identical to her front parlour right down to the piano that now lay silent but in my mind I could hear the tinkling notes that over 30 years ago I had heard when my brother attempted to play. But I wasn't in Aunt Carrie's house, I was stood in the Victorian parlour in the Museum of Nottingham Life at the Brew House Yard...

GETTING WET WITH THE FIREMEN!
Advantages: Good food, excellent staff, etc, etc
Disadvantages: Damn air conditioning
...As a few of you know, me and the other half were off to Nottingham for the weekend minus the kids. So now you lucky chaps get a lovely series of ops about our experiences in this fair city!
The first challenge was actually finding the place! Although its slap bang in the middle of the town centre, this city has the worse one way system in the whole world! It took going around about 3 times before we got there.
It?s a lovely red brick building, out of place amongst its more contemporary surrounding and occupies a rather peculiar corner plot. There is no parking, but an NCP directly opposite and the hotel offers valet parking.
This was the first thing that we took advantage of, a very friendly chap just inside the door took the keys and the details and removed it to an undisclosed destination. He also took the day and time that we...

Jurys Inn Nottingham
Advantages: Economical, clean, modern, good value for money
Disadvantages: No hotel car park
...LOCATION
Jurys Inn Nottingham is located between bridge over the river and a water channel on the London Road , southeast of the city centre, close to the railway station and within a two-minute walk of the tramway system.
First Impression
On arrival to the Jurys Inn in Nottingham city centre, me and my partner were greeted by a modern, quite impressive looking, 8-floors high building. Although the building looks a little unfinished, the reception area looked spotless and shiny marble flooring as well as dimmed lightning and colour scheme added to a very glamorous look. The receptionist welcomed us and checked us in in a fairly informal manner. Unfortunately, we were not given any directions on how to get to our room, where the hotel facilities are or any restaurant/bar opening times.
