...I had decided to treat my mother to a weekend break in London and upon researching various hotels on the internet chose the Novotel Euston (formerly Bernard Shaw Plaza). The cost was £79 for a twin en-suite including full english breakfast for two which I thought was very reasonable. Upon arrival we were very impressed with the exterior and interior of the hotel, the staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The hotel has a panoramic lift which if you take up the the sixteen floor has wonderful views of London, including the London Eye and Canary Wharf . The room itself was spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We ordered room service for Saturday supper which was brought up promptly, average cost of a meal was £13 and the food was superb. Menu offers a good choice on British and International...

...just come back from a 4 night stay at this hotel. have stayed in novotel hotels before so i knew what to expect!! firstly the name! CENTRUM that would lead you to believe that it is centrally located! then think again! it is a good 15min walk ,which ok is nothing! (and the hotel is in a beautiful setting near the river) but when you start exploring this beautiful city, you do not realise just how much walking you will do!!!! There is a tram stop just across the road and 2 stops you are in the centre! thats fine but when you get the tram back, where it drops you off you are on like an intersection which is very busy, and unless you use the underpasses( there are 2, one being along side the river, the other by a supermarket, okay during the day but i would be a bit cautious at night! there were some drunks around!) you can always play...

...The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far didn't complain once. Although we ate at the hotel we also sampled London's China Town. It is a four star hotel and lives up to the standard. It is situated close to Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament. The hotel does not allow smoking anywhere near the building which my mum and I really appreciated because we are both none smokers. The smoking ban made...

Advantages: Beautiful setting in a buzzing part of London

...The Ashley Hotel is a superb, well-priced B&B hotel in a gorgeous location in central London. It is situated in Norfolk Square, Paddington, and is just 2 minutes walk from Paddington station. Paddington itself is a buzzing district of London adjacent to the West End, and is packed full of shops, restaurants, bars etc. Norfolk Square is an oasis of tranquility amongst this. It is a square (obviously) of tall, elegant Victorian mansions, all of which have been turned into budget hotels. The hotels are painted white and cream, and have tall windows and beautiful old railings outside. In the centre of them all is a railed garden. Apex City of London Hotel - outstanding

Advantages: Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, modern hotel
Disadvantages: Slightly out of the way of the West End

...We wanted to stay somewhere in central London that was value for money, and found this brilliant hotel for only £69 per night. We booked directly with the hotel itself, and while the system can be a little frustrating the transaction went through smoothly. This was in December 2008, so we didn't expect any decent hotels so close to Christmas to be so cheap. While this hotel is a little out of the way of main attractions it is close to the Tower of London, and to Tower Bridge and easily accessible by bus and tube. On arriving by tube, we found the hotel was alittle bit tricky to find, and were saved only by the fact that by boyfriend's phone has sat-nav! So as a surprise I arranged a weekend in London, a decent hotel, show and a trip on the London Eye. Having consulted a number of websites and talked to a few people about the best places to stay I opted to try the Novotel as they seemed to have some very reasonable deals on. Once I'd decided that it was then choosing one to stay at and it made sense to get one near the London Eye and near to the Tube stations, so I opted for the Novotel in Southwark. I booked the whole thing using the Novotel's website and because of this there are some better rates than you might otherwise get. Easy Hotel London Victoria.

Advantages: Great value hotel. Right in the heart of London. Lovely staff.

There is so much to see and do but staying in hotels in the centre of london can be VERY expensive. BUT not when you stay with easy hotels. I just want to say dont be put off having a great london break because of overpriced hotels. When me and my girlfreind go to london (2-3 times a year) we always stay at the easy hotel in VICTORIA. Right in the heart of the city FOR ONLY £35-£40 PER NIGHT AND THATS FOR THE TWO OF US!!!!!!!! Now in my opinion that is a great deal. Wonderful hotel in London, I would highly recommend it!

Advantages: Brilliant location, modern rooms, clean and friendly.
Disadvantages: None I can really think of, if I had to mention something it'd be the pricey internet.

I usually don't like staying in London due to small rooms, unfriendly service and a lack of good value accommodation, however, this hotel had nice sized rooms, friendly and helpful service, and was good value for its central London location. Stranded in London!

Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey

..." - the inner courtyard of the hotel with the humming air conditioners at the bottom. I can live (or sleep) with that, but there was also an awful rattling, like pipes, coming from somewhere in the ceiling. We went back downstairs to complain, and were told there were no other rooms. After standing our ground they eventually checked us in to an alternative room on the 4th floor. A little bigger, but still not brilliant - probably "average", from past business stays down in London hotels. The reception staff weren't particularly friendly, as other reviews have mentioned. Despite being "club" rooms, all that appeared to be different was the decor. Instead of old-fashioned wall-to-wall flowerey decor and furnishings, it was plain duck-egg walls, and a "modern" bed (faux-leather headboard and plain brown and green blankets). Not worth the extra money...
