The Shard towers over London and with an impressive 95 storeys it's the tallest building in the EU. Upon arrival at The Shard be transported from street level a whopping 800 feet skyward to survey the 360 degree view that spans an incredible 40 miles over the capital city. Advantages: Quick to get to from London, beautiful, lovely green spaces, good selection of food. Disadvantages: The smells, some scruffy areas, not much to keep you entertained for more than a few days
Lille is so quick and easy to get to from London, you could visit for the day as a lot of people do. We went for a few just for a little break in which we weren't spending our whole weekend travelling. There are loads of places to stay and everywhere within the city is easy to locate. Advantages: great position.Everything in walking distance Disadvantages: our room was small
...The hotel is in the old part of Lille. everything is in walking distance, even the Eurostar station (only about 5-10 mins on foot)
The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The breakfasts had no 'hot' dishes, just lovely French sticks, croissants, pan au chocolate , the usual cold meats & cheese, cereals etc. Tea & coffee out of those big flask things! No bar.

Hotel Lille Europe is a 3 star hotel situated right next door to the Euralille shopping centre and the main Eurostar station, and a very short walk from the centre of old Lille.
