...For this, my final installment (for now) in my crusade to get people to know my favorite female vocalist, I bring to you the latest album by the singer Noa (or as I know her, Achinoam Nini) - Now! Whereas, I previously thought that her previous album (Blue Touches Blue) was a step in a different direction, I have to say that this album is more like a leap. This collection finds her no longer under the wing of Pat Metheny - which was never a "bad thing", to be sure. Still, one wants to see a real talent such as Noa's find her own way in the music world, since I believe that too much mentoring could actually lead to undue influence and possibly even to the stifling of natural direction and style. I think that in Noa's case, she picked the precise moment to find her own way, and this album is proof that she was totally ready for this...

Disadvantages: You can get sick to death of hearing about it

...of months, I have found it absolutely unbelievable to witness the news coverage devoted to the pre-World Cup shenanigans. It comes to something when David Beckham breaking his foot is headline news over stories such as the Middle East conflict and murder. I may have missed something here, but isn’t football a team game? Surely if it’s all doom and gloom because our “star player” is injured, then that means we have a crap team, doesn’t it? (I’m showing my football ignorance here, can you tell?) I've seen Toyah's knickers

Advantages: Great to see and hear all the old 80's sounds
Disadvantages: Makes me feel old now

...I didn’t actually want to see Toyah’s knickers, but they were on display for all to see at the next in a series of 80’s concerts touring the country. I saw the Here & Now tour 2002 at Birmingham NEC on Saturday 20/4/02. I have already written a review of the Here & Now 2001 tour which featured T’Pau, Nick Heyward, Go West, Heaven 17, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Kim Wilde and Paul Young, which I really enjoyed and ‘forced’ me to buy tickets for this next concert. On the way to the venue, my friend’s brother was playing 80’s music in the car to get us in the mood. We had some Spandau Ballet and Soft Cell and I was drifting off remembering myself when I was younger, BIG hair, far less wrinkles, far more energy and far more make-up! ...As all of you who read my op on the great KM herself know, this is my favourite person. And that I went to see her in concert, on the 8th May 2002, on her KYLIEFEVER tour. Well, let me tell you, this was the best concert that I have ever seen or been to. It really blew my mind, the athmosphere from her many many many adoring fans and the amazing special effects added to it but the real reason I enjoyed it so much is because Kylie was there, of course. As it was so good, I couldnt wait for the DVD to be released. I already had the Live In Sydney DVD, and so badly wanted the Fever one, too. So much so, I pre-ordered it on the internet. It did not turn up for ages, so I rang my local HMV store to see if it was in stock and hurried on down....... (I am now the proud owner of two copies of this DVD...) ---HOW MUCH WAS THE DVD...

...The time is NOW Now magazine is a celebrity gossip magazine. It costs £1.30 per week. Now is my guilty coffee break pleasure. From looking at the front cover you will see that the magazine is always glossy and shiny and features about 6 or 7 celebrities all the front, all with various headline grabbing captions, teasing you into wanting to read more and thus having to buy the magazine. At £1.30 it is not as costly as some other gossip magazines, such as OK or Hello but it is a lot thinner and not as good in my opinion but if you're after a bit of gossip and a bit of fashion, then this is the magazine for you! The first 20 pages or so feature the stories that are alluded to on the front page. These are accompanied by lots of glossy photos and about half a page of text telling you about the story. ...Every now and then a movie will sneak up and catch you by surprise. So it was for me with Paradise Now, a film I knew nothing about, other than a website blurb about two potential suicide bombers. Co-written and directed by Hany Abu-Assad this is a story set within the West bank in Palestine, with two friends, Said and Khaled, being offered their chance of martyrdom (hence 'Paradise Now') by carrying out a suicide mission in Tel Aviv. Both the men react to the invitation with a mixture of relief, confusion and elation, though it is Khaled who seems the happiest to grab the chance. Said is more thoughtful, altogether darker, about the whole affair. Wiley's Gettin' That Scrilla Now

..."See Clear Now" came as the third (/fourth) album by Grime artist, Wiley. This one acted as his breakthrough piece as it has him finally standing in at a level where he is recognised in the mainstream as Dizzee Rascal did before him. Using Dizzee's tactics at doing so, he has moved away from te darker Grime music (which is the UK equivalent to America's Rap) as he moves into proper songs, and with this he does both this Pop and Electronica to boost his career, working off the hype of "Wearing My Rolex".
