Numatic Henry, the Cleaner's Cleaner!

Numatic "Henry Hound" - a doggy prayer answered.

Advantages: A simple, bombproof, highly efficient, and lovable piece of engineering.
Disadvantages: Plastic hoses, no on-board stowage of accessories.

...As a retired dog owning batchelor cleaning is not my priority in life but removing long white German Shepherd hairs from every square inch of my flat is an ongoing nightmare that just has to be addressed. I borrowed a few vacuum cleaners to see if they would cope including a Dyson which, as an engineer, I thought was a brilliant but over complex concept. It also seemed to have the longevity of a take away container. Eventually having tried a Numatic Henry wet 'n dry which had great "suck" but no powered head I took the plunge and ordered a "Henry Hound". On arrival, and with some trepidation, I unpacked it, connected the hoses etc, put on the 24v power head [which was quite heavy] and pressed the button. My "test" lasted half an hour by which time every corner of the flat was devoid of dog hairs, dust, and even chewed wood...

...This is my personal opinion on the rugged Numatic vacuum cleaner called Henry. You will recognise it as soon as you see it because it is the one with the smiley face. This model is available in four different colours, red, green, blue, and the less common yellow. The Numatic Henry is marketed as a barrel vacuum cleaner and is cylindrical, it stands upright, and floats on superb castors, it also has a rubber fender around it, so does not mark walls. It is very easy to move about. The first experimental models were built using old oil drums. The suction, is brilliant, the cable is simply wound up on it's own drum by turning a handle, a selection of tools are supplied, plus a filter, and the machine itself is light enough to be carried up the stairs. ...OK, a review about the Henry Numatic Vacuum cleaner. You may recognise this model as soon as you see it, because it is the one that has that smiley face, it also comes in four vibrant colours, red, green blue, and yellow. Now they have added another to the range - Pink. Actually this one is called Hetty, but is otherwise the same . The shape being cylindrical, on end, or stood up. it is not unlike a five Gallon oil drum, but it also has a handy rubber buffer around it, which avoids marking walls. Excellent Girl...

Advantages: Solid Build, Powerful and Long Lead
Disadvantages: Umm, It's pink.......but I knew that when i bought it

...Having gone through 4 different vacuums over the last 10 years including 2 Dyson's that packed up. So far the Hetty has been the most reliable I've owned to date, no suction problems and can be used without bags. Got a Hetty instead of Henry as she was cheaper due to damaged packaging. She is a bit bulky but has a very solid feel, has already fallen down a flight of stair with no damage whatsoever which can't be said abotu other brands that I've owned. The cord is more than long enough (at 10 metres) to start hovering upstairs if you plug into a socket on your landing, work your way downstairs and carry on for most of the house before having to unplug it! Numatic claim the cleaning range is 31.8m and I'd say that's pretty accurate! The hose is 2.4 metres long. It has a pretty powerful 1200w motor. It's not hugely noisy either. It...
