Numatic "Henry Hound" - a doggy prayer answered.

Advantages: A simple, bombproof, highly efficient, and lovable piece of engineering.
Disadvantages: Plastic hoses, no on-board stowage of accessories.

...As a retired dog owning batchelor cleaning is not my priority in life but removing long white German Shepherd hairs from every square inch of my flat is an ongoing nightmare that just has to be addressed. I borrowed a few vacuum cleaners to see if they would cope including a Dyson which, as an engineer, I thought was a brilliant but over complex concept. It also seemed to have the longevity of a take away container. Eventually having tried a Numatic Henry wet 'n dry which had great "suck" but no powered head I took the plunge and ordered a "Henry Hound". On arrival, and with some trepidation, I unpacked it, connected the hoses etc, put on the 24v power head [which was quite heavy] and pressed the button. ...We bought the BT Quartet 1100 as a replacement for out existing cordless telephone, which had a bit of an accident with the floor - it was never the same again! PRICE We were basically looking for something at the cheaper end of the BT range, having previously had problems with a lesser-known brand phone. The BT Quartet 1100 seemed to be a great price, especially as it was in the sale. This was something we later regretted as I suppose sometimes you just get what you pay for. DESIGN I like the look of the phone a lot. It is white, so does tend to fit in with most decor. Unlike our previous model, it has a more curved body and sits in the moulded base very well. It feels very comfortable to hold, which is a great asset when you spend ages on the phone. It also seems quite robust and has put up with many months of daily use...

Bt Studio 1100 = Perfect Efficiency

Advantages: £35 - called id, assign ringtones, 300m outdoor range, appearance=perfect
Disadvantages: only 3 melodies! no txt messaging/answerphone

...Studio 1100 can have a range of 300m outdoors! and stores 30 numbers in its phonebook. (has 100 hour standby time and 10 hour calltime life) you can also assign a ringtone to each member of your phone book! These are its main great features along with call display: I am with BT as a phone company and for an extra 50p to the bill I get caller ID so now i see the number on the phone when it rings, and if the contact is saved in my phonebook i will see their name when they ring. Disadvantages of the phone is that it only has 3 melodies, only 1 of which are decent (melody2) The phone doesnt have its own answerphone but this is minor as BT provide one (accessed by call 150) The phone is great and does actually support its 'digital clarity' claim and is 'DECT certified' (Digital European Cordless Telecommunications. ...OK, a review about the Henry Numatic Vacuum cleaner. You may recognise this model as soon as you see it, because it is the one that has that smiley face, it also comes in four vibrant colours, red, green blue, and yellow. Now they have added another to the range - Pink. Actually this one is called Hetty, but is otherwise the same . The shape being cylindrical, on end, or stood up. it is not unlike a five Gallon oil drum, but it also has a handy rubber buffer around it, which avoids marking walls. The cleaner is mounted on decent castors, so it is very easy to move about. OK for now, so, now for the suction part of the review, I can only say it is brilliant, the cable can be wound up neatly in it's own drum by simply turning a handle, all the tools are included, and the cleaner itself is light enough to be carried upstairs, what...

BMW R1100RS SE

Advantages: Comforable; Reliable; just a great bike:
Disadvantages: Oil inspection glass means getting on hands and knees!!

...I first purchased my BMW in April 2003, it is a W plated RS1100 SE, had 3,500 miles on the clock and cost £5,500. If you read my Moto Guzzi review you will see that I came back into biking after a 35 year lapse, and although I like and still have the Guzzi, it developed a problem (no spark) and is currently garaged. Also I had a couple of occasions to call out the AA, in London to fix a few 'minor' problems. I decided I wanted a superior bike, a one which had received good reviews and would not only be reliable, but would just go on and on forever. The only bike I could think of therefore was a BMW, and not being a sports bike person or a Harley man (cannot get to grips [sorry about the pun] with the heavy clutch in commuter traffic, a problem with my hand!!!) BMW R1100RT. The riders bike.

Advantages: Weather protection, comfort, handling, fuel range etc.
Disadvantages: Poor headlamp, people think you are too old for bikes when you buy a BMW

...The BMW R1100RT is by far the BEST moorcycle for someone who likes touring at high (or low) speeds, and who likes to cover large distances at the same time. I have been riding for 37 years and have riden every type of machine there are. I feel the bMW is the best machine I have ever owned (up to now) I like the comfort. The weather protection, The handling, and the performance. On paper it isn't that quick, and to be fair it isn't, but we all know that figures are not true to life. This bike will (with a good rider) give most sport bike riders a run for their money. But when they are getting off to renew their circulation and filling up with fuel, you will be flying past, leaving them in your wake. Typically 200-250 miles without stopping is easy to achieve.
