Disappointing Boys Toy
Review of O2 XDA 2 by
bradders39
Advantages: Everything in one device
Disadvantages: Dreadful battery life. O2's dismal coverage
...I bought the XDA II for my workplace as myself and colleagues needed to be able to acces email on-the-go.
I was expecting great things, boy was I disappointed!
The major disadvantage is the battery life, if you're lucky the battery lasts about seven hours and thats without making any calls on it. However this was also partly due to O2's dismall GPRS coverage as the XDA is constantly hunting for a signal and using the battery.
The good points of the XDA II are the good quality camera for a PDA, has bluetooth, avery large clear screen which makes working on it easy, and loads of functions. (Although in hindsight maybe too many functions) The cradle for the XDA II has a slot which enables you to charge a spare battery whilst the XDA is on charge. This is a major plus because you will need the extra battery!!!
I would not buy this XDA II...

The Phone That Does It All
Review of O2 XDA by
Liberty1985
Advantages: The huge range of features
Disadvantages: The size
...Produced by www.Online-Shop-Guide.co.uk (my own site)
What would your ideal phone be able to do? Would it have a huge colour screen? The ability to play mp3's or movies? Access the World Wide Web while on the move? The phone you are looking for is the XDA.
The basics
Pocket PCs have been around for a while. They operate like miniature laptops and normally include a built in windows operating system and popular software such as Media Player, Word & Excel. The XDA however is the 1st time the world of pocket PCs and mobiles have been merged into one. The first thing that hits you upon viewing the XDA is the sheer size of the screen, sizing up at 8cm by 6.5cm it takes up almost the whole face of the phone. This of course does mean the phone is larger then most of today's modern phones, it will still however fit comfortably into any...

Is the XDA the best gadget?
Review of O2 xda by
ste231191
Advantages: Slim, cool nice
Disadvantages: Connecting to internet
...Some of like gadgets and I for one, love gadgets, when I first saw the O2 XDA I thought that there was no other gadget in the world that could beat it, at the time I wanted a PDA and a mobile phone but I had to choose one of them I took my time thinking about this and then I came across the XDA which was perfect for me but it was a little bit pricy, at first when it came out it cost £800 which is very very expensive.
Is the XDA worth all of that money? If so what is so special about it?
Well whether you're a business man or a kid who likes showing off his gadgets the XDA suits all with its wide range of features it supports. The XDA has special features even though it's a pocket pc it is a mobile phone (people may say you have a brick) it supports the features of a mobile phone: you can call (obviously) you can send and receive text...

O2 XDA Mini S Has Everything.
Review of XDA Mini S, PDA/Mobile Phone by
antdamm
Advantages: It's more than a desktop computer, in a package the size of a mobile phone.
Disadvantages: Not much onboard memory, but can easily be fixed with an SD card.
...The O2 XDA mini S is the all in one PocketPC, there is nothing this does not have:
-Mobile Phone, with all the features of a mobile, SMS, MMS, GPRS
-Internet (HTML, not WAP!) can connect using WiFi, GPRS, Bluetooth or Dial-Up GSM, so you are guarenteed to be able to get online
-Wireless LAN, connect at work or in WiFi Hotspots like cafes, airports or work with broadband speeds.
-Full QWERTY keyboard that makes typing SMS messages to full MS word documents as easy as on a PC.
-Camera, with 'Flash' I feel this is the downpoint of this phone, but it is the same with all PDAs the cameras are near useless, do not buy it for the camera as it only works in daylight conditions.
- MS Windows Mobile 5.0, install and delete programs at will, with so many programs availible for free and at very small prices availible online there is a program to do...

You can swivel the top half.
Review of XDA Exec mobile phone by
gollum3273
Advantages: Large screen, seperate keyboard, 3G
Disadvantages: big and bulky
...very clearly.
The XDA EXEC only became available on the 1st November 2005, so it is a very new phone,
I have had mine since 6th November and am still finding new things that it can do,
You can buy in-car holders from both the o2 and T-mobile stores,
This phone can retail at around £400, just for the phone, but there are some very good deals around.
The battery usually last for 2 days depending how much you use your phone,
There are so many features that this phone has, that i didn't think they could get into a mobile,
The only one thing that i have to say that i wasn't too sure about was the size, as i thought it was going to be big and bulky, and look very silly,
But after using it for a few weeks, it isn't much bigger than my old Nokia, and weighs about the same, and it comes complete with its own case,
And as for looking...

O2 xda
Review of O2 XDA by
gpk115
Advantages: Good screen
Disadvantages: pricy although can be bought second hand for cheaper
...The xda comes in a box that can comfortably fit a small pair of boots. However, the actual device is a more reasonable 13cm long and 7.3cm wide, with most of the box taken up by accessories.
Accessories include a charger, which also provides USB PC connectivity, a leather pouch and belt clip, spare stylus, earphones, a couple of manuals and a CD containing Active Sync.
For the technically minded, the xda includes an Intel StrongARM 32-bit processor at 206 MHz, which puts it at the lower end of Pocket PC PDAs.
The touch-screen of the xda runs at a relatively standard 240 x 320 resolution, with 4,096 colours. Most of the buttons are found on the screen, for instance when dialling you press a screen-displayed keypad. The stylus is stored in the aerial.
Above the screen are two hotkeys to "contacts" and "calendar", although these can...

XDA II - More than I thought
Review of O2 XDA 2 by
corblimey
Advantages: Versatile, easy to use, great for work and fun
Disadvantages: tomtom sat nav is dodgy, photo quality is poor.
.... This has been invaluable as I do use my XDA II for work as well as play.
THE XDA II AS A PDA
This product does everything I would expect it too.
The memory was a little small but easy to upgrade, as I have.
Simple and easy to use and has given me great benefits.
PROBLEMS
1. The picture quality of the camera is very poor.
I was expecting something a bit better. Especially given the clarity and size of the screen.
2. Handwriting recognition is very difficult to get to grips with.
I tend to use the on screen keyboard which although very small has a predictive function which is very intelligent and does aid the speed of typing enormously.
My next purchase will be a plug in fold away keyboard.
Other niggles include;
when using 2 or more programs at once it can sometimes be a bit of a pain toggling between them.
Sometimes freezes after...

Great bit of kit
Review of O2 XDA 2 by
Trendyvic
Advantages: All in One Machine
Disadvantages: Size
..., and addressbook. Great for doing things on the run. It has bluetooth and GPRS connectivity and can join wireless networks - so you can be online even when away from home without paying O2 for the connection.
I wouldn't be without mine, but may think about changing for the new model out, which is a little smaller....

Don't get it if you need a phone!
Review of O2 XDA 2 by
ConsumerBoy
Advantages: PDA and phone all in one
Disadvantages: Hopeless battery, too many quirks
.... OK, the size is great for using as an operating system and the screen is very well defined, but imagine taking it to the pub on a Saturday night or down to the beach in the summer - wihlst you might take your mobile but not your PDA in an ideal world, you don't have this choice with an XDA2. I have seriously considered getting a cheap PAYG phone for social events!
You really need a case for the phone and your options are two fold - the leather O2 case which protects the phone well but doubles the size, or an aluminum case which opens like a book. Both make you look like an 80's stockbrockerwhen you're on the phone. How I have been ridiculed on occassion!
2. The battery life. Even just using as a phone on standby, I have to charge it every 24 hours. My previous Nokia would go at least a week without needing charge - and this is very...
