.
Oak trees are one of Britains great old trees. The village green where I lived as a child has several really old ones and has a few new saplings too. I have great memories of the old oak from my childhood. I could climb among its lower branches.
I often went there when needing to think and be alone. . I made a den under the oak it was my place to be.
There are about 400species of oak/Quercus over the whole world. A including our native pedunculate oak and sessile oak, a red leaved oak and a cork oak the cork oak tree is an evergreen. An oak tree can live in excess of 700 years. They can grow up to 45 metres high have a circumference of 400cm...

Review of Oak
Advantages: Historic house with friendly staff Disadvantages: Very limited disabled access to house.
...During the Civil War, when King Charles II's enemies (Cromwell's Parliamentarians) won the battle of Worcester in 1651, he needed somewhere to hide. This is one of the homes where the inhabitants helped him. While in fear of searches being made of the house, Charles II hid in a now famous oak tree in the grounds, after which a lot of pubs where named The Royal Oak.
The original oak no longer survives but its descendant does, and saplings with a Certificate of Authenticity can be brought for £9.99. (As our garden isn't big enough to have an oak tree grow in it without risking the roots causing damage to buildings, we weren't tempted by this offer.)
When we first arrived at the house, we were firstly greeted by ducks in the free car park, which is next to their pond. No doubt they were hoping we had a picnic to share. We met...
Advantages: The bed was clean.... Disadvantages: Poor Decor, Poor Service, Expensive, Poor Food
...So, work has been taking up most of my life at the moment and in the quest to earn myself enough money to remove all of my debt and get on the property ladder, I have been working all hours that God sends and also travelling all over the country being a salesman, pre-sales and techie. This means that I have been staying in huge amounts of hotels. The ones that I have found on Ciao, I am setting about reviewing them.
So, onto the Royal Oaks in Sevenoaks. I was in Sevenoaks to undertake a techie course to enable me to design and analyse networks better and subsequently offer more services to our clients. Since the course was in Brasted and all of the hotels had been taken due to the inability of my company to book anything more than 10 minutes in advance, Sevenoaks was the nearest viable place to stay.
The royal oak hotel...
Advantages: All of it Disadvantages: None at all for me
...The Hilton hotel located on Post Oak Boulevard in Houston, Texas is where my fiance and I spent 6 nights of our recent trip to Houston.
Booking and Prices
---------------------------
The Hilton website has a separate page for each of its hotels across the globe. On these pages you can get information on all the facilities that are on offer as well as check photos and virtual tours.
To book, there is a room availability checker that allows you to see if there is space for when you would like to stay and which types of rooms are available, of course the prices are also included here. These can be viewed in both US dollars or UK pounds. I really liked this feature, as at the time, we were booking well in advance of our trip. I found it helpful to keep an eye on the price of a few weeks and look in both dollars and Pounds to see if...
Advantages: Sturdy Disadvantages: None that i can think of
...This side table is fantastic. Iv'e always loved oak. The table it's self is very sturdy and looks pretty hard wearing (especially when my little neice desides to jump all over it). It looks great in the bedroom or in the dining room (Iv'e had it in both). It also looks stunning if the lights are off and you have a candle or two on it. I recommend this side table to anyone who needs a sturdy table that looks great and is built to last. Also if it gets anything spilt on it which stains or tea rings from hot cups you simply put a piece of grease proof paper or an old cloth over the stain and use a hot iron on it in a circular motion for 10 to 15 seconds and the stain is completely removed. This works on any varnished or painted surface. This means that the side table is practically indistructable and is perfect for people with kids.

Advantages: Great for wildlife, and some of life's wilder moments Disadvantages: Just a tad on the big side for most gardens
...I do have other interests besides gardening and alcohol. For example . . . well . . . er . .
Okay, let?s just concentrate on these two for the moment. And be thankful that they are so integrated. But of course this is a gardening op, so let me turn your attention to those majestic trees which from little acorns grow.
And indeed they are majestic, which is why oak is generally an unsuitable tree for a smaller garden. Two which remain in manageable proportions are Quercus pontica (Armenian Oak), an oval-headed tree with very long leaves, and Quercus ilicifolia, which has smaller leaves, dark green above and greyish below. The latter gives particularly good autumn colour. Both grow to only about 6m (20ft), both are deciduous, and neither is particularly tolerant of exposed conditions.
For those with a little more space, however...

Review of Oak
Advantages: Good shady plant Disadvantages: Takes a long time to grow.
...This is great as it allows me to share my vast plant knowledge with you all.
I studied for an HND in Amenity horticulture between 1992 and 1995 at Writtle College in Chelmsford and the majority of the course comprised of plant idents and studies.
I can therefore share many of the things about plants that may interest you.
Firstly, I will discuss the oak.
The Oak tree comes in many varieties and types throughout the world and is not confined to the tree we all know in this country, the Common English Oak.
The Latin for Oak is Quercus. It is found on most continents and widely distributed throughout Europe.
They are extremely slow growing trees and take hundreds of years to reach full maturity.
Oak trees are famous for their lobed leaves, fruits of Acorns and their strong hardy woods. They have been used by carpenters...

Review of Oak
Advantages: Varied activities and inexpensive. Disadvantages: Needs good weather.
...The Major Oak is the tree that legend says Robin Hood hid in. Although the story is good, the facts do not match as the tree is not old enough. However, it is a very old tree and well worth a visit.
The tree is at Edwinstowe, just a five minute drive from Centre Parcs, in the heart of Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire. There is a very well laid out, clean visitors centre near to the tree, and from the visitors centre as well as the walk to the tree, there are a number of other very well marked walks through the forest of different lengths. Most of these walks are wheelchair friendly, and one particular walk has been set out for visually impaired people. There is a large car park at the centre, which is free during the week, but there is a moderate car park fee at weekends (currently £1.50).
About a quarter of a mile from...
