Advantages: Versatile, nice design, internet facility, storage, large amount of features.
Disadvantages: Physical problems: buttons breaking/falling off, common shaker breaking probelm.

...become very annoying as this also seems to be a common error and friends have had to completely remove the buttons from the phone which destroys the look. Unfortunately this brings the rating of the phone down, as far as the software is concerned the phone is perfect it is only the physical problems that spoil the W850i....

World Beating OCR

Advantages: Brilliant with typescripts
Disadvantages: upgrade to v6 too expensive

...I scan and OCR a lot of typed manuscripts and old typewritten magazines, and for years I've dispaired of ever finding software which can do a good OCR job. Programs which work fine with proportional fonts fall over with monospaced typing - even though the regular letter spacing should help enormously. I eventually settled for Omnipage Pro 11, but it still wasn't very good. Then I saw Abbyy Fine Reader Pro 5.0 for half price in PC World, and noticed that it was Russian. Surely if it could cope with lots of different alphabets, as promised, it could cope with a typewriter! I downloaded the free trial, and found it was brilliant, so I rushed down to PC World before they sold out. I've been using it for months now, and wouldn't go back to anything else - it's every bit as good with proportional fonts. I'm really amazed how accurate it is...

Shoddy Software lets down a great playerr

The main downfall of the iPod is the software behind it. If you have a large collection of .mp3, or in my case .wma files it is often tricky to get them onto your iPod. Apple seem to insist on using the AAC format, which requires long periods of time to convert the files. If you use Windows Media Player on a regular basis, this is definately not the player for you. This is not directly a fault with the player, but more a fault with the iTunes software which I find to be unnecessarily complicated.
