Almost instant heat, plug in and off you go
Review of Tesco Value MINI OIL Filled Radiator by brittle1906

Advantages: Cheap to buy, efficient and easy to use and install.
Disadvantages: No timer, electric heating is not the most cost effective

...TESCO VALUE MINI OIL FILLED RADIATOR It seems rather fitting to be penning a review about a heater in early April with snow falling thick and fast outside! This compact radiator is ideal for providing heat in small areas, as the name implies it is a small appliance. The radiator is white in colour,so would blend in with most colour schemes. It is very light and easy to move around, being freestanding, not wall mounted. It produces a remarkable amount of warmth for a compact heater and is neat in appearance. It is small enough to stow away in a cupboard when not in use. The maximum wattage is 700w. and it comes with a fitted plug as standard. It is a basic radiator and as such, does not have a timer function or any fancy programmes. There are two heat settings and an on/off light so you know the radiator is plugged in... Read review

CHALLENGE vs DIMPLEX Oil Filled Column Radiator
Review of Challenge Challenge by Deetzyb

Advantages: good amount of heat
Disadvantages: takes a while to heat room up

...Having no central heating and no money to install it, I had to buy heaters for every room in my house - enter the Challenge Oil Filled Column Radiator. I had already bought Dimplex Oil Filled Column Radiators for my bedrooms which are double the price of the Challenge Oil Radiator but needed one for my hall. I bought the Challenge OFCR (Oil Filled Column Radiator) from Argos on sale at #19.99 and is normally #29.99. It has two options of heat settings and a temperature dial which you can adjust accordingly. The OFCR is on wheels which you have to put on yourself (which takes a minute or so) so it is easily moved around if required. Its asort of light beige colour with bright orange dials for heat and temperature control which is not the best colour option for them to go for! The Dimplex OFCR is the same design - on wheels which you... Read review

Warm at last!
Review of Delonghi KH 770920 M by kelr101

Advantages: Thermostat, regulated temperature, quick heat, good price
Disadvantages: No timer, not suitable for small rooms

...When we purchased our flat in May 2006, it was the middle of summer, and hence the flat, which received direct sunlight for ¾ of the day, was very warm. However as the months passed, and the summer warmth faded we found ourselves resorting to the panel heaters installed in the flat. These panel heaters weren't very reliable and produced limited heat, mainly within a 2 metre span from the heat source, not very useful when you're trying to heat a large bedroom and living room. Having browsed through the Argos catalogue for an alternative heat supply, we decided on purchasing a Delonghi Oil Filled Radiator, currently available for £44.99. The Delonghi brand name is synonymous style, living innovation and successful products, so we were perfectly happy to choose this brand over another. The radiator we chose has the following key features... Read review

!!!!!Oil Central Heating!!!!!
Review of Central Heating Installation by honestlyopen

Advantages: Don't need British Gas
Disadvantages: A little bit of space lost in the garden.

...as to where the oil tank is placed, so it went at the bottom of the garden (which will be covered by trellis ONE DAY). The Combi boiler has been put into a small room I had uner the stairs and never used apart from hoarding stuff. In all i have 9 radiators and instant hot water 24/7. The main advantage with oil is because you need to fill the tank up, you actually pay for the oil before you use it. So there's no bill landing on my doormat on 27th December after another expensive christmas with the gas fire and heating on. Last year I filled my tank once costing £157.00 in March, and i expect to re-fill in a month or two. Oh Yeah there's also NO STANDING CHARGES.... Read review

Maybe a must for this winter.
Review of Delonghi TRD 0820 by dingoo

Advantages: clean, quiet, and quite cheap, small modern design
Disadvantages: none if your cold

.... In the same shop a week later all I could get was the less popular oil filled on I am writing about here. In essence I urge you to be prepared, even if it is a false alarm and it is a mild winter it is better to be safe then sorry, Think of the elderly how stuck would they be without electricity, I know my Gran depends on it, al day long for cooking and heating. Plus it is bound to get worse in the future as nuclear power goes of line and demand goes up for electricity and north see gas runs out and the prices shoot up because we have to import more and more then we do now. So back to the details I purchased a DeLonghi TRD0820T Dragon Range Oil Filled Timer Radiator 2Kw. DeLonghi is a good brand and it cost £ 80 from a local independent high street retailer. It has 2kW of power, which is more, then enough to heat a medium sized room... Read review

B&Q Oil Filled Radiator
Review of B&Q OIL Filled Radiator 1500W by Hsaxo

Advantages: Small, heats the fulll room, bargain price
Disadvantages: takes a whle to heat up

...B&Q Oil Filled Radiator Bought one of these around 6months ago our heating wasn't going to be working for a couple of weeks so bought this for the bedroom. Went to B&Q as knew they had quite a selection didn't want a huge one as we don't really have much room in the bedroom. We bought it as a replacement for the halogen that we had been using which the dogs kept walking past and singing their tails in. It takes quite a while to heat up even when it is on full power but once it is warm it is more than enough to warm our bedroom up. It has various settings of heat so once the room is warm you can turn it down which is a really useful feature, the dial for doing this how ever does not have numbers on it and I do think it would benefit it if it did so you could turn it down a set amount and know which setting you usually use. Once... Read review

OLBAS OIL with apologies to BILLY CONNOLLY
Review of Olbas Oil Inhalant Decongestant by anneyo

Advantages: Cheap, convenient, effective
Disadvantages: Just don't get it near your eyes!

..., is one of life’s little indispensable wonders. It costs as little as £1.99 for 10ml, which will last for ages. It can be used for all age groups, with the exception of babies under 3 months. For children from 3 months to 2 years, a few drops should be sprinkled on a tissue and the tissue placed near, but not touching, the child. I used to place the tissue on the radiator in my childrens’ rooms so the air was filled with its scent. If you haven’t tried it yet, then get some! It’s either that or keep your wellies on until Summer!... Read review

It's getting hot in here
Review of Igenix 1.2 KW Halogen Heater by AK-47

Advantages: produces instant heat, lightweight, low energy costs, safe
Disadvantages: the plastic finish does look a bit cheap

...In the interim period after moving into our new home and the installation of a new gas central heating system we found that the house would drop to sub-zero temperatures resulting in many layers of clothes, hugging like penguins and inevitably running frost bitten noses. As a solution we looked at oil filled radiators that could be plugged in as well as conventional fan heaters that blow out air warmed by a filament. Both of these solutions proved to be considerably more expensive than a Halogen solution, and the purchase of three Igenix 1.2 KW Halogen Heaters were purchased from Wilkinsons for only £8.99 each. Bought online they retail for around £20 each so a real saving was made and it worked out at around £75 cheaper than using oil filled radiators. Standing 60cm high and 30cm wide the heater produces thermal energy from three strip... Read review

Popolinos are Austrias best selling nappy
Review of Popolino Snap To Fit by Sukey113

Advantages: Cheaper and better for the environment.
Disadvantages: Need nappy buckets, washing machine and tumble dryer

...I bought Popolinos from Little Green Earthlets, an online environmentally friendly store. They recommended 20 nappies with a couple of wraps for each size. The Popolino nappies are adjustable with poppers and should last until my little girl is potty trained... then I can use them for any other little ones I may have in the future! I decided to investigate reusables as they are a cheaper and better alternative for the environment than the plastic ones we fill our bins and landfills with. I have been very pleased with these nappies. They are absorbent and Jasmine (my 4month old) has never had any problems with nappy rash, etc. When soiled I use a nappy bucket 3/4 filled with water and 5 drops of tea tree oil ( a natural oil known for its anti bacterial and antiseptic qualities ). When I have a full bucket I can just bung them... Read review

Bionaire BOH1000 - The cavalry of heaters!
Review of Bionaire BOH1000 OIL Filled Radiator by liam_coops

Advantages: Cheap to run, Very safe
Disadvantages: Small

...My Experience… Well living in a 1930's council house with no other heating system and single glazing the Bionaire BOH1000 has been a life saver, and quite literally could be for the frail or elderly. In the past this product has been quick to heat up and cheap to run. You can leave the heater in a room, so you're not tied down worrying about whether it'll catch fire like you would be with dangerous antiquated electric blankets and fan heaters. Simply switch it on, and leave it, there is an intricate system of safety cut-offs on this product, in my opinion, making it one of the safest things in the house! Design… The BOH1000 is a handy and practical 1 foot wide. It easily fits into any room, apart from the bathroom of course - don't put electricals in the bathroom. The product works by heating oil and radiating it out into the room via... Read review
