After sun and bath...

Advantages: Moisturising

...of the islands2 as advertised on the sun tan oils and lotions. Instead it has less of a summer holiday smell, and whilst it smells fruity, it smells more like my usual moisturisers. Not unpleasant, and not disappointing, just a bit unexpected. Anyway, I don't think i want to be smelling so fruity after a day in the sun- maybe a bit neutral after a shower is a good thing. The after sun itself isn't really thick and creamy, because if it was, it would probably clog up the pump. However, partly because of the fact that it's not incredibly thick, it does soak easily into my skin and doesn't need lots and lots of rubbing in. SPF 45, cheap sun protection lotion.

Advantages: Cheap, good quality.
Disadvantages: Hard to find.

A Non Peeling After Sun

Advantages: no peeling, works quick, absorbs and softens skin

...So, last weekend was probably one of the hottest of the year so far according to me. I didn't actually realise how hot it was at the time of course so avoiding putting on suntan lotion. Advantages: Really works and hydrates your skin - so no peeling

...After the brief few days of sun we had last week I made the fatal mistake of falling asleep in the sun in my back garden and as you can guess I got sun burnt, I didn?t really have any sun cream etc in the house so popped down to Tesco?s to see what I could get my hands on only to discover one of the best after sun lotions I have ever used. Tesco's Finest After Sun Lotion was on offer for half price so i though that I would purchase it and give it ago and I can honestly say that it worked. Packaging It comes in a blue 200ml pump bottle which is blue in colour with little stars on it. Product: The bottle says that it rehydrates your skin for 12 hours, contains antioxidants, nourishes, soothes and calms your skin, and it did exactly that for me. It worked okay as an after sun, the rather runny lotion was fairly easily absorbed into your skin and didn't leave a sticky residue, plus the scent wasn't unpleasant and not too overpowering or girlie. One 150ml bottle lasted the two of us approximately 5 days (we ended up using nearly 3 bottles during the 2 week holiday) It's the self-tan element that I have an issue with. Clinique After Sun with Aloe - Don't be a lobster!

Advantages: Really cools down skin, stops flaking
Disadvantages: A tad expensive, but worth it!

...been in the sun. It also really helps with moisturising my skin so I don't get horrible flaking skin, which is not a good look on holiday (or anytime!) I find that it absorbs in to the skin really quickly and is really effective in cooling burnt areas and moisturising. Another great thing about this lotion is that it is oil free, it is also allergy tested and fragrance free. Since the lotion was really good at soothing it really made me feel more comfortable and reduced and itching the sun caused me. Because the aloe cooled my skin I think that my skin was less red in the long run too. I really like the design of the tube, it is a mint green colour with a big yellow 'C' on the front of it and then a yellow band across the middle with 'Clinique After Sun' written on it. Nivea Sun Lotion for Children

Advantages: Great product, nice smell, lasts a long time
Disadvantages: Can be expensive if bought singularly

...of the bottle has the usage instructions and a long list of ingredients. The cream comes in the following SPF's: 25, 40 and 50+.The cream also allows your child to play in the water for 80-120 minutes without needing to reapply, but I would still reapply it more regularly just to be safe. It also contains Vitamin E to help combat free radicals & premature skin ageing. Nivea also do a BABY Sun Lotion which is SPF 50+ which has been specially developed for sensitive baby skin. The children's lotion also comes in a spray, which I am yet to try. I would definitely recommend this sun cream. If you buy on an offer as I did, it works out at quite good value, and it seems to provide great protection. I even use it on myself and I haven't yet used even half a bottle! Advantages: Aftersun & fake tan all in one, cooling and hydrating.

I usually take my leftovers of suntan lotion and after sun on holiday but I read an article last year that the stability of sun protection lotions is unknown and as a result the shelf life of these products may have been over estimated. I quickly binned the dregs and half empty bottles that were lurking in my cupboards. New lotions and after sun were bought for my recent holiday to Kos, Greece. I bought Garnier Amber Solaire moisturising protection spray and Garnier Amber Solaire After Sun hydrating tan maintainer. The packaging has changed slightly so I've included a picture of the actual one I bought. This after sun claims to "hydrate skin and intensify suntan". "Get the most out of the sun"

...Piz Buin In sun lotion SPF 10 ?GET THE MOST OUT OF LIFE IN THE SUN SAFELY?. This is one of the products I have used before when in the sun, and Piz Buin being one of my preferred makes, I know I will probably like this. WHAT IT DOES... This offers SPF 10 which is considered low but which I find is fine for my first week or so in the sun. It is UVA/UVB with helioplex which apparently provides photostable broad spectrum protection, whatever that is! It also contains Vitamin E which the information on the back of the bottle tells me will neutralise free radicals which cause premature skin ageing. The lotion is also water and sweat resistant, whcih is a claim most of these kind of products make but one which I am not entirely sure of. PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
