OUT WITH THE OLD

Advantages: Having a good clear out
Disadvantages: Takes a lot of time and hard work

She then sent me into her loft, where we found an old guitar and yet more bits and pieces. This was not so bad but inspired my boyfriend. He decided that we should go up into our loft, as despite having moved in eighteen months ago we had never ventured into the loft space. Whilst up in the loft we found a huge number my boyfriend's grandmothers's nick knacks. Obviously some family members were keen to keep photos and some of the old books, but nests of tables and boxes upon boxes of glassware were added to the car boot fund. Theatre of Dreams - Old Trafford

Advantages: The best team in the world, good facilities

...I have visited Old Trafford twice in 2 seasons now specifically for the United v City Derby. The ground has good transport links to Manchester via Tram, Bus, Car and "Football special" train. Initially I had some reservations about attending the ground for such a "hard fought" fixture, however the reception of fans and organisation was most excellent. I would recommend catching one of 3 special football trains from Manchester Piccadilly (on match days) to get you to the ground in around 10 minutes.... these trains are two commuter style trains that are joined together - arrive totally empty and can generally find space, with some standing, for everyone who is waiting. The train drops you off by the south Stand, which is not far from the away section, major entrances to stands and the club shop. Match days are very well policed...

Old Man of Hoy

Advantages: Beautiful scenery and an unusual natural sight
Disadvantages: Walking is necessary-although that isn't really a disadvantage at all!

...from Stomness (foot passengers only) or from Houton a couple of miles east if you are wanting to take your car. Personally if you do have a car it can be worth taking unless you are prepared for a lot of walking as public transport is scarce. The village of Rackwick is the usual starting off point for a 3 mile walk to the cliffs facing the sea stack itself. This is a really beautiful walk and since there are not roads out to the Old Man of Hoy it is necessary if you want to see the stack. I was told to give 3 hours for the walk there and back but I would not count myself as at all fit (and I'm asthmatic) and it took around 45 minutes each way. The walk is really beautiful as at the start there is a bit of a scramble up one of the hills near a cliff edge and then stunning views over the island, beach and across to the rest of the Orkneys. Hardwick Old Hall

Advantages: Historical, interesting, great views

She started Hardwick Hall itself in 1591; she obviously decided pretty quickly that the Old Hall wouldn?t be grand enough. LOCATION: The Hall is located on a National Trust estate just of the M1, between Mansfield and Chesterfield. It is reached by leaving the M1 at junction 29 and then following the brown signs for Hardwick Hall. There is a car park where National Trust and English Heritage members can park for free, otherwise the cost is £2. PRICES: The Old Hall is a little bit of an anomaly as it is on National Trust land but it is administered by English Heritage. Brilliant infant car seat

Advantages: Excellent for safety, comfort and totally practical

...I used this for my daughter and used it from birth right through to the upper weight limit which is actually higher than most other car seats in this category. She always seemed so content in it and happily napped when travelling. The sun canopy is excellent, great for protecting the baby when driving and carrying about. Sun canopy also stores away easily when not in use, remaining attatched but out for the way. I also bought the easybase which made loading and unloading baby from car very quick and easy - especially when its raining which it so often does here. Also purchased mosquito net & Raincover both excellent purchases and in the UK I certainly needed them. I liked the fact that there were internal pads that could be removed as she grew to enable more comfort and space for her within the seat. Covers are easily removed for washing...

...I bought this when I had my baby as it was apparently the best on the market and I really can't find fault with it at all it has been the most reliable of our baby products and can't rate it highly enough. This car seat is different from others as it is suitable for up to 9 months whilst the majority of others are just up to 6 months. The seat is well padded and has a 'head hugger' so it is safer for newborns. This headhugger can then be removed once your baby is big enough. The straps also can be adjusted once your baby grows so that it is still safe and comfortable. The straps are easy to use- at first they were fiddly but once you have the hang of them then you know what you're doing they're easy! once you have strapped your baby in you then pull on the straps to make them tight so that your baby is safetly in place...
